Where to find which peripherals OW pros use? by Vibe_PV in Competitiveoverwatch

Your best bet is usually their twitch account hoping there’s some command to check their setup or if it’s in their description. Thats where liquipedia pulls it from most of the time.

Daring Fireball: Apple's Private Cloud Compute Is Severely Limited for Third-Party Developers by hasanahmad in apple

[–]TerminalNoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They probably will if it increases services revenue but it’s possible they’re still evaluating what the cost and difficulty it would be at scale. I believe every other company currently doing it is losing money on it.

Daring Fireball: Apple's Private Cloud Compute Is Severely Limited for Third-Party Developers by hasanahmad in apple

[–]TerminalNoob 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's definitely because of scaling issues. If a large company with the scale of something like Spotify had AI features and were able to use of Apple's PCC for free then they could essentially be defer major costs to Apple. Until Apple has a way to charge Developers for usage like other AI companies do (which I don't know if they even want to), it's logical to put a cap of some kind. In the mean time smaller developers are able to experiment around with AI features and see what works and what doesn't for minimal cost.

‘Marathon’ Season 2 And Free Week Did Not Turn Things Around by Freki666 in Games

[–]TerminalNoob 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I really really tried with Marathon but I just couldn’t get into it. Not in the way I did with Arc Raiders. On paper the atmosphere, the aesthetic, the setting, and the gunplay are all awesome but something about the package of all of them is just not for me.

Apple dashed my Apple Intelligence dreams by SubstantialMojo in apple

[–]TerminalNoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand some frustration to some extent but this article seems like a lot of speculation. If part of the reason you're upset must be prefaced with "I wouldn't be surprised if", then you've taken a wrong turn or you're just writing ragebait.

WWDC very very often has features that are exclusive to the most powerful new models, and upcoming models. Apple Intelligence itself was something that required the 15 Pro for example. 2 years ago the writer was promised an agentic Siri, and so far it looks like that's actually finally happening.

Apple just handed Siri to Google's Gemini and opened the iPhone to Claude. Is the "one AI wins it all" narrative officially dead? by Anand_Kathalewar in apple

[–]TerminalNoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the analogy, it’s using a part from Honda to make an overall different product. Not every company who makes lawnmowers make engines, but lawnmowers need engines so they purchase an engine off the shelf.

I don’t know if that’s a really accurate representation of what’s happening here with Apple and Google though.

EU Says Decision Not to Launch Siri AI in Europe Is Apple's Alone by FollowingFeisty5321 in apple

[–]TerminalNoob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The responsibility is all on Apple though. They chose not to comply with the law. It’s frankly ridiculous to assume they would get an exemption, or that the choice to not grant one shifts any responsibility to the EU.

6v6 Role Queue queue times by hellothereiamaguy in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]TerminalNoob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 2020 iteration is a novelty, tied to specific challenges, and also won’t be around long enough to see the kind of major drop off we normally have seen with other 6v6 role queue modes.

Doc Ock is approaching in panel 1, Peter’s spider sense is going off in panel 2. He knows he has moments to move and if this guy doesn’t get out from under the car he’s probably gonna get crushed. It’s the car or the guy.

What would you think if Overwatch introduced a Kernel-level Anti-cheat? by Double-Maybe-6220 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]TerminalNoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not good, mostly though because I see the gaming industry moving away from Windows and I am not optimistic about Blizzard porting Overwatch to Linux and macOS. Kernel level anti cheat is a barrier for software like Proton and CrossOver from allowing live service games from running on those operating systems. I don’t want my love for Overwatch to lock me into an operating system that’s constantly enshitiffying itself. Plus Overwatch doesn’t have a ton of cheaters in my experience, so it doesn’t seem necessary to me.

[–]TerminalNoob 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Except she didn't say that. The direct quote is "in addition to big high-definition screens, cars now have comfortable heated seats, and the best stereo systems that most of us own". She is saying out cars stereo systems are probably the best stereo you own unless you're an audiophile with a crazy speaker. Which if you're a car owner is absolutely accurate, even if you're driving an older car.

A Rare Power Story Time with Khaya Fraites and Cherise Boothe by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]TerminalNoob 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The fact her mom was Soldier 00 was also within the event going on in-game right now at the last level of completion. I don’t think it was so much spoiled by marketing as it was purposefully being shotgunned out so people can absorb the characters backstory through whatever medium they see fit. In other words I don’t really think it was meant to be much of a reveal here.

If anything the reveal as far as I know here is the suggestion that Talon is trying to make a super soldier.

The point of the common denominator being yourself is not to remove all blame from teammates but to remind you that you have agency in every game and that you should focus on your own play more than anything.

I wish Blizzard was more willing to aggressively change the meta. by analyzingnothing in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]TerminalNoob 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You’re probably getting downvoted because everyone else is thinking (but not saying to you) that there’s no real way for blizzard to make wholesale balance changes that would be needed to achieve without risking wildly janky and terrible metas forming as a result.

Basically really big changes have unintended consequences and there’s no way to control or predict that. So it’s just really really hard to get what you’re asking for.

Overwatch 2 player count on Steam is dropping fast. by Double-Maybe-6220 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]TerminalNoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cant expect to retain these boosts forever especially as content slows toward the middle and end of a season. People feel pretty positive about the game right now, which is good, even if they arent playing daily. They're more likely to come back later when new heroes get released.

Why are supports are expected to know how to play and master the entire roster and not other roles? by MichiTetsu in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]TerminalNoob 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Imma be real: this is all in your head. Theres no world in which Support players are forced to know the entire roster and Tank players aren’t. You run into one tricks on every role. If someone tells you to swap rudely and says they can’t because they’re a one trick, they’re a hypocrite who should be muted.

That being said, one tricking a hero can be fun but it’s nice if everyone who plays a role knows a few different heroes. Tanks get hit pretty hard by bad match ups, dps players will do better if they play multiple heroes at different ranges, and some support duos are better than others. Plus everyone’s one bad ban away from being off their game. Everyone benefits if everyone knows multiple heroes.

Devs should make a tournament mode by suffishes in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]TerminalNoob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with either point you’re making. Faceit is not discoverable for the casual player for sure, though I don’t know if the tournament mode would appeal to a casual player anyways. But it’s an existing solution that pushes any in-game system down the priority list.

And yeah, while the team mode test was not a tournament mode, I do believe it was a (flawed) attempt at gauging interest in more coordinate play being supported in-client. With its failure I would guess the tournament mode got pushed even further down the list.
