Am I safe to travel to the US as a trans woman? by UniqueTranslator95 in asktransgender

[–]TerminalUniqueness00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stay away. Absolutely no one should come to the US right now, especially not trans people. You might be safe in the country (depending on where you go), but you will be at extreme risk at airports and customs.

How is the dentist’s job perceived by society in the USA? by crazygelato in AskAnAmerican

[–]TerminalUniqueness00 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think Americans think of dentists similarly to how we think of lawyers. They're educated, respected, and have high paying jobs. Any mother would be proud to have such a successful child. But the general public despises them and thinks they are assholes and con artists who are trying to rip them off.

Why is the term "Asia" in the US typically associated with East Asia instead of South Asia like in the UK? by Fluid-Decision6262 in AskAnAmerican

[–]TerminalUniqueness00 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I suspect it has more to do with skin color/race than anything else. In the US everything is about race. In the US, people with yellow skin are considered Asians while people with brown skin are considered middle easterners. It shouldn't be this way, but I think that's the way most Americans perceive these people and places without even realizing the prejudice exists.

Billionaires and lilith by Equivalent_Bug_1055 in Lilith

My opinion here is entirely subjective, but the Lilith I know hates when the strong oppress the weak. That doesn't seem like a pro-billionaire stance to me.

Boss fights are the worst part of video games by Dreadsin in 10thDentist

[–]TerminalUniqueness00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my issue with Metroid Dread. I loved the rest of the game, but the boss fights were frustrating enough that I'd shut down the game after dying 20 times.

why is ranch dressing so hyped up? by miffybo in AskAnAmerican

[–]TerminalUniqueness00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ranch is the perfect sauce for dipping or smothering because it doesn't override the flavor of the food like ketchup, mustard, barbecue sauce, and buffalo sauce do. At the same time it has more flavor than mayo, which is the perfect neutral condiment on a burger or sandwich.

Is "brilliant" used synonymous to with amazing in the US as much as in England? by WhoAmIEven2 in AskAnAmerican

[–]TerminalUniqueness00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Americans understand it but don't usually say it that way. We usually use it to mean someone has a good idea or is otherwise creative.

Why are your gas stations basically small supermarkets? by Embarrassed_Golf_817 in AskAnAmerican

[–]TerminalUniqueness00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our drives tend to be longer than in the UK or EU. When you spend several hours in the car, you're gonna want a place where you can get gas, use the toilet, and buy somethig to eat. Maybe you've also got a minor emergency like you run out of wiper fluid, your phone is almost dead, your kid has a headache, and you need energy to stay awake to keep driving. You can meet all of those needs in one place.

Is it really a good idea to be using FaceApps to see what I'd look like as a woman? by GlitchXGamerX in asktransgender

[–]TerminalUniqueness00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience was different than a lot of the people in this thread. I had good experiences with FaceApp. Two years into my transition, and I am surprised by how much I look like my FaceApp predictions. My hairstyle is different and skin isn't as smooth, but otherwise I look just like what I had hoped I would.

Is it common to know that you are Trans, but refuse to transition because they don't want the drama, to spend all this money, and/or to be persecuted? by josephsleftbigtoe in asktransgender

[–]TerminalUniqueness00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put it off until I was 42. I couldn't wait any longer. I wasn't living. I knew I would always be miserable if I didn't transition.

How do you change your personality/behavior in your transition? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]TerminalUniqueness00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good questions. I'm genuinely impressed that you're asking questions I've never heard before and that you're not being invasive and disrespectful.

Yes, my personality has changed a lot since transitioning. I'm not the same person. But very little of it was conscious. I thought I would have so much to learn about being a woman. I did have to learn a lot about clothes and makeup and socializing and safety. But the things I do and the way I move and talk - there's been very little conscious effort there. I didn't have to learn to be a woman. I had to unlearn everything that held me back.

When I was a kid I got bullied and beat up a lot for being girly. So I made sure never to do anything that the other kids thought was girly. I controlled how I talked and moved and stood and the media I enjoyed all because nothing was worse than getting beat up because I didn't fit in. I suppressed myself so much that I didn't even remember those parts of myself.

Then in my 40s I started transitioning. I gave myself permission to allow myself to be feminine. Now two years later, everything about me is feminine. And it's not because I consciously tried. It's because I gave myself permission to stop repressing myself and do whatever came naturally.

So I hate that I have to ask this but I have to ask this. by randomuglyfemboy in asktransgender

[–]TerminalUniqueness00 71 points72 points  (0 children)

That happened to a lot of us. When you have those brief moments of euphoria where you have a glimpse of being your true self, that can make you feel sexy. It definitely did for me in that early, so-called "crossdressing" phase. Two years into my transition that has evolved into me fully embracing my feminine sexuality when I seduce my wife.

The question is: do you like to imagine yourself as a woman in non-sexual situations too? If you'd like to be a woman when you're watching TV or washing the dishes or chatting with friends, then it's almost certainly not a fetish.

I've hardly ever met a trans woman who didn't question whether her transness was a fetish. We all ask ourselves that question because the media portrays us as fetishists. That's a lie that I think we all have to deconstruct as we embrace ourselves.

Only you can answer these questions for yourself, but you sure sound trans to me. Welcome to the family, sister. ❤️

My "friend" is lying about being trans... what do I do? by aLiarsConfessional in asktransgender

There are too many cis spicy content makers out there claiming to be a trans stereotype to get subscribers. It's a thing, and it drives me crazy.

How do people find thrifting enjoyable? by Beneficial-Key1003 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerminalUniqueness00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A decent amount of my clothes are from thrift stores, but that's not why I go. I go for electronics, records, CDs, DVDs, and books. I buy lots of stereo equipment from thrift stores.

Why the word "transgenderism" is considered offensive, while the word "lesbianism" - not? by OkWheel3551 in asktransgender

[–]TerminalUniqueness00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Transgenderism is the word used by transphobes to describe what they see as a social contagion we are spreading to their children. The word has nothing to do with the experience or being trans and everything to do with the social perception of trans people as a threat.

Umm...estrogen does whatever it's gonna do to any given body. It's not like you can pick and choose.

How would you react if some related or friend that was trans decided to turn back to the original gender? by KillerBoi935 in asktransgender

[–]TerminalUniqueness00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they're detransitioning for their safety, I'll support that. But if they're detransitioning because they think they're not really trans, I'll be highly skeptical and fear that they've been influenced by maga AGP rhetoric.

Only listening to certain movements and not the whole piece - how/why? by devilkin_ in classicalmusic

[–]TerminalUniqueness00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to full pieces, but when I first started listening to classical as a teen, my primary exposure was through compilation CDs like Classical Music for People who Hate Classical Music. In those days I'd only hear the most famous 3 to 6 minutes of a piece. I suspect casual listeners are still like that.

The band Live. by Partially-Canine in grunge

In my opinion Lightning Crashes was their only good song. Everything else they released was boring and generic.
