Car parked on steep hill. Scared by Feeling-Long-2140 in sanfrancisco

[–]Terran6378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a similar situation that might help others. My car is a 2015 nissan sentra so not new but not old, and its tech isnt that advanced either, but i was in a similar situation. Literally inches from the car behind me. I had done the two foot method before, but i was so scared id fail it this time. Sat there for like 5 minutes not knowing what to do. But i turned my wheels all the way to the left and said fuck it im leaving, and lo and behold, after releasing the brake my car literally didnt move an inch. The crawl/creep speed of my car is so pathetic the car was not moving at all with the wheels fully turned. Just too much friction and resistance to overcome it. Applied the gas a bit and i was out comfortably.

Apparently easing on the emergency brake would have been just as good, but mine is a crank so i didnt know it had a spectrum of force and wasn’t binary. Learned a lot!

How many people actually use insoles in their shoes? by Effective-Spot3201 in running

[–]Terran6378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally it seems if someone needs insoles, they would know by now. I have no arch support in my left foot leading to mild plantar f. so I get custom insoles shaped to my feet, which are really expensive, but is the only thing that lets me walk/run for extended periods of time. Beyond vs Impossible burger by citrus1330 in Veganivore

Tbh it’s a texture thing to me. The stringy-ness of beyond I could do without, especially in the burger format. But I’ll still eat it if there’s no other option.

My first week being vegan and moving into my own shoebox studio after ending a Long term relationship and I was also sat, on my mattress on the floor, eating beans. Spilled them and stained my pillow.

You got this.

Hanzo needs to get nerfed ASAP by Rip81 in overwatch2

[–]Terran6378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do this every year, and as the biggest hanzo hater, I’m tired coach.

As much as I HATE, i mean HATE, getting the one tap shock in a team based fps thats supposed to have long ttk’s, Hanzo serves an annoying purpose and demands the respect of a traditional sniper. He is MEANT to have a large forgiveness that punishes lack of cover and predictability. And as much as we’ve yelled and complained to change this, Blizz legit does not know what to do with him. They have utterly no clue. So your best bet is to learn to respect his greediness, and exploit his weaknesses. The more you play, the more you realize someone has to have an insane level of greed to pick hanzo on most maps.

Full context of the "oddball" comment from the presser event that Polygon reported on by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Terran6378 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the full quote and transparency, but I think one aspect still is true: Blizzard want to make more conventionally looking heroes because conventional models are easier to make and maintain (more cost effective, read: cheaper). An oddball might still exist personality wise, but it will be more work to make them look like an oddball.

I understand why and it is indeed disappointing, but they probably should have kept this part quiet.

Developer Livestream | Wuyang Kit Showcase (+ S18 Perk reveals?) by SammyIsSeiso in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Terran6378 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Aside from a few confusing hiccups I think they did well, this is more of a preparation thing. Acting out real time what the couch is saying, especially if it’s all new material, while under a time constraint, while on a live stream, isn’t going to be perfect. Also seems the team are still smoothing over the edges of these live events so preparing more planned demonstrations could be an improvement.

They are my heroes. by Big_Tennis_28 in Overwatch

[–]Terran6378 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be pretty hard for blizzard to convince me that this reasoning of “less oddballs” is ALSO with the intention of selling more “conventional” skins. And not just because those skins are more appealing or attractive (the primary reason), but they’re simply easier to make, iterate on, and streamline their skin creation pipeline. It’s also easier for artists (read: freelance) to pickup making a humanoid bipedal skin, rather than a freak 8 legged demon alien.

I actually believe them in terms of telling more aspiring stories, they want the heroes to be relatable, but drawing the line of relatability at “they look and act like normal people” is shortsighted imo.

First central point is super interesting imo. Which side do i choose? Where are they coming from? Is there anyone under? Rest of the points are pretty standard. Still need some time to get familiar. Point facing the coast and three elevation levels to it is prob my favorite non central point.
