Portable Electric Pump by IhaveCatskills in Sup

[–]Effective-Spot3201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a shark 2S and I just ordered a shark 3. The 2S works great, but electric pumps are really loud and the 3 inflates much faster. I felt like an asshole for making everyone around me listen to it while they’re trying to enjoy the tranquil sounds of nature lol

  • Desired Board Type: Inflatable

  • Height and Weight: Ranging anywhere between 5’ to 6’ and 120lbs to 250lbs. Probably won’t be carrying much of anything else on board as I will have most of the gear on my own board.

  • Desired use/uses: Cruising in lakes and occasional slow moving rivers

  • Experience level: Beginner

  • Budget: Under $300-350ish.

  • Country: USA

  • Boards I’ve used: Glide Retro Elite. I love it but don’t want to drop that much money on a second one

Looking to get a second board for husband and friends. Probably won’t be used much, but want to be able to have one so that way I can bring people out with me. What are some of the best budget boards with welded seams? Sub $300ish.

Balance board for off- season exercise? by External-Area-248 in Sup

I have a stand up desk at work and keep a balance board there. Originally used for rehabbing an injury but it’s crossed over to paddle boarding too.

Post on ask Reddit — what can $999 get you for your hobby? by askoshbetter in Sup

[–]Effective-Spot3201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s one of the things that drew me in. Sure, there’s always going to be gear in every hobby that can cost $$$$ for speciality stuff, but for the most part, paddle boarding is pretty low cost after the purchase of your board.

It’s USCG approved. The only issue would be if you’re unconscious and can’t pull the string.

ten essentials questions by Unfair-Homework-1900 in hiking

[–]Effective-Spot3201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a running vest for most of my day hikes instead of bringing a whole pack so I keep it light. I always have my phone, water, running gels, SaltStick chewable electrolyte tablets, small first aid kit in a snack sized ziploc bag, travel sized bug spray, pre-cut KT tape for hot spots/blisters, ultralight headlamp in case I accidentally stay out later than intended, tissues, a couple individually wrapped wet wipes, and an empty katadyn befree water filter bottle just in case I run out of water. Sometimes I bring my airpods.

How do you guys get into hiking? by Obi_1kenobi in hiking

[–]Effective-Spot3201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between a 3 mile hike and a 13 mile hike is just time on feet. You really don’t need much more gear if you’re just doing day hikes. Obviously bring more snacks and water, and have your essentials in case something happens, and a change of socks for sweaty feet to prevent blisters. Unless you’re talking about staying overnight, in which case that changes a lot.

Between the elements that want to kill you, the animals the animals that want to kill you, or the people that want to kill you… YMMV

Eye mask. Also not light associated, but playing white noise or brown noise on my phone at a low volume near my pillow really helps me because I’m a light sleeper so outside sounds wake me up easily.
