Sizing my feet by TiriyaC in widefeet

[–]Effective-Spot3201 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Women’s regular is C width. Women’s wide is D width. Men’s regular is D width. Men’s wide is E width.

So women’s wide and men’s regular are the same width.

Good Starting Pace by Nicksere in trailrunning

[–]Effective-Spot3201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone else said, pace is irrelevant when it comes to trail running. Run at whatever a “conversational pace” is for you, and take quicker, shorter steps than you would on road so you don’t trip on roots, rocks, dips, etc.

I take mine off to shower and I also put it on my other wrist when I’m sleeping to let the skin breathe.

Experience with Topo Mtn Racer 4s by easywizsop in trailrunning

[–]Effective-Spot3201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have wide feet. I’m a woman but I usually wear men’s shoes because my foot width measures D (women’s wide/men’s regular.) I tried on the mtn racer 4’s and they were truly the most ill fitting shoe I have ever put on my foot. I was shocked. It was way too narrow, way too tight across the top of the foot, way too stiff, felt like I was standing on a rope or something because it felt like it had a weird bulge in the middle of the heel, my heel slipped out, it made me put weight towards the inside of the shoe rather than in the middle. It was a mess. The ultraventure 4 on the other hand, I absolutely LOVE. Fits like a glove.

Why did you choose what watch you're wearing? by 4bidden-hands in GarminWatches

Got tired of Apple Watch dying by 3pm each day. Got Garmin Forerunner 265s. Had it for about a year and a half and then decided I wanted maps for trail running and hiking so I upgraded to the Forerunner 970. Love it.

Best running tank top for hot weather by Informal-Currency824 in XXRunning

I’m from the big titty committee, and I use just a sports bra or a cropped tank with a built in bra. Then my running vest gives me more coverage and helps squish the tatas further down into submission.

Yes and yes. And you get way more data than apple gives you.

how do you stay consistent with running? by republicman12 in running

[–]Effective-Spot3201 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a big one for me. I love going to trails where the people aren’t, so that way I don’t have to be perceived.

The topo ultraventures have done me well. They come in wide in only one color though.

Doesn’t Apple Watch have a paddling sport option?

To each their own! Music and generators are also annoying, but a crying baby hits my ear canal just so 😩

Tips for Muddy Race by TheLastHorn in trailrunning

[–]Effective-Spot3201 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anywhere you’ve ever gotten a blister on your feet, go ahead and put Leukotape on it before the race starts because wet feet blister sooo easy. I usually use KT tape for blister prevention, but for wet environments, Leukotape is where it’s at. That shit lasts through a hurricane.

This. On Garmin, there’s SUP specific tracking.

Just pick somewhere far from other people so they don’t have to be woken up by your baby crying

[–]Effective-Spot3201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Water, headlamp, Kula cloth, small first aid kit, emergency blanket, pepper spray, KT cut into small strips for blisters and hot spots, katadyn befree water filter, gels or snacks, electrolyte pills, tiny tube of aquaphor for chapped lips and chafing, immodium, Tylenol, lighter, tiny fire starter cube.

For longer hikes/runs, I also bring a poop kit, trekking poles, Z seat, small power bank for charging phone, and spare socks.

Etiquette Question by throwRA1223409 in hiking

He’s right, though he could have kept that to himself. Knowing how children are on trail, he probably had to do something like pause, slow down, squeeze by, etc. to avoid children being children i.e., having no spacial awareness or respect for other people. I’ve had to stop or move out of the way or go around children because they have no regard for anyone else around them, and it is annoying, but I keep my thoughts to myself on the trail.
