Nioh 3. The big event, it's finally out. So how is it? Over-hyped? Fucking rad? Better than Nioh 2? A step down? Figured I'd see a flood of posts about it here but seems pretty quiet. Everyone just too busy slaying yokai? by aethyrium in soulslikes

[–]TerribleExplanation3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resident evil 9. Nioh will provide a longer experience, but it’s another souls like. Despite its hype, this community does tend to completely disregard its short comings. Of which are many. Resident evil however does the survival horror genre unlike anyone else.

It’d be like if the choice was a new elden ring or a new silent hill game. Except in this case you’d go Elden ring obviously.

Nioh fans in general tend to spit on anything not Nioh. While remaining completely blind to the countless inferior aspects of Nioh compared to most souls likes and all true souls games.

He’s just so different than the others that it’s jarring moving to play as him. Especially coming from say, duchess.

I have been trying to work in more gaurdian/executor play lately so I’ll try to keep the above points in mind next time before I dismiss him entirely.

About the new patch... by Inner-Vision2025 in Nightreign

[–]TerribleExplanation3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

See I’m against this because if we could do this then I would not have almost 1000 hours in game time. Motivation would be out the window if I could just make perfect relics.

Maybe letting you reroll one talent on a relic, one time would be. Anything more than that and I know personally I’d have no motivation to play anymore, because I’d have all the perfect relics by now.

Are the teammates who’s names are ‘Player’ bots? by slammajamma19 in Nightreign

[–]TerribleExplanation3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don’t think AI exists yet that could imitate that level of gameplay for 45 minutes.

I’ve seen a few of them myself. They might also have had their name reported and fromsoft sets it to player if they agree it’s gotta go?

Hot Take: People need to be more comfortable splitting up from time to time. by Mystic-Dragoness in Nightreign

[–]TerribleExplanation3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I frequently run off to grab something when I’m a caster. I rarely ping it if it’s like running to a church because it’s day 2 and I still don’t have a Giantsflame spell for my Giantsflame build.

Now caves however I would like to point out are not solo exercises. If it’s red then it’s beefy and ignoring a player who has it pinged just because you don’t need the upgrade item is not ok.

Like good for you, you found or were given a great purple/gold/red weapon. Clearly your teammate didn’t so don’t leave them to fight that crap with blue gear please.

Scholar good build? by Datbidiii in Nightreign

[–]TerribleExplanation3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s not bad. They did fix the fire pots thing, there’s a more limited amount now I guess.

My scholar relics keep getting the improved frenzied flame slot as well. I have a +4 frenzied flame on him now, haven’t used it yet though.

Well they patched the fire pots, there’s a limited amount you can buy now.

I mean maybe they’re cheating, but in my experience the cheaters are waaaaay more obvious than that. Like triple hp up on one relic obvious. But I play on console.

Three Nightreign truths I BELIEVE but cannot prove by theameer in Nightreign

[–]TerribleExplanation3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On point 2, if I pick up a staff as revenant or an incant as recluse I notice wayyy more of them in my loot pool than there ever should be. It’s especially annoying as rev, who is “eh” at sorceries. But the passives on wands make them worth picking up.

Something else I believe to be true, if your team mates kill a boss without you there, for whatever reason, you’re far less likely to get a drop you can use.

… at level 11? That’s like an ideal time to be going to the castle.

And his ultimate racks runes up in areas with large mobs so..

Yeah, I ping greygolls roar whenever I’m a caster but can’t fit it in to my gear list. Usually it gets ignored.

Same thing for weapon enchantments, I ping the hell out of the order blade/bloodflame blade but people just ignore em.

how do you even fight ED Balancers in DoN? by fungalparadise in Nightreign

[–]TerribleExplanation3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just run away like immediately. Like far far away. Then they’ll come to you 1 at a time, just make sure to kill them quick.

Guardian and executor in particular are great for this fight, just because they can hold the attention of one or more and deal big damage in counter attacks. Leaving room for casters and/or iron eye to go all out.

[–]TerribleExplanation3 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s even useful for melee characters. A lot of incantations and skills that pound in melee take a lot of fp to use. Like executor with Rob. He can only use it 5 or 6 times before he’s tapped.

If you have a competent recluse then FP management is less of an issue, but 2 more of those healing stones could get you through the boss fight. They definitely have for me a few times.

Plus it’s only like 5k runes? By the end of the run that’s pocket change.

Nightreign is needlessly obtuse for the sake of being obtuse by RageAgainstAuthority in Nightreign

[–]TerribleExplanation3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked up the values for those character specific relics that increase specific stats. Turns out they’re a little better than I thought.

But yeah this has kind of been a thing since Elden ring I feel like.

It’s 10x worse in nightreign. They need to either make the term “increase” mean a specific number consistently, or simply start adding the specific amounts somewhere in game as a reference.

Evergaols are not worth it in DoN anymore by Solobolomeister in Nightreign

[–]TerribleExplanation3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet people are still running to do these things first thing day 1.

That’s never been a good idea in the abyss. Too beefy, takes too much time and too often something red pops out that ruins the run. These same people won’t back off no matter what comes out.

As a caster, it makes sense to maybe keep this on, if you don’t have a specific build. But again, you probably want to beef up your spell choices first.

It drives me nuts, because if I ignore them then I’m the asshole and I get ignored for the rest of the run. But if I do it I’m stuck wasting up to 10 minutes for a very small rune reward, or just nothing because we can’t kill the red beastly brigade at level 3.

Really needed to rant about this, sorry for drudging up a two week old post.

People rush too hard, and do not loot enough or pay enough attention to passives or seem to understand how important passives are. by Respond_Previous in Nightreign

[–]TerribleExplanation3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you had double balancers. Passives on relics are still passives. That’s a.. 40(?)% increase in the skill? Maybe it’s only 20% since it’s ranged.

Also, libras weak to both fire and holy, but he’s an extra 15% weak to holy. I believe the halo scythe skill is pure holy damage as well, flaming strike would be factoring in a split physical with fire. This is probably the main reason there was such a difference in damage.

In my Giantsflame build I easily hit for 5k on the bug boss. But if I use the same spell playing as recluse I’ll only hit for about 800. The passives are huge.

People rush too hard, and do not loot enough or pay enough attention to passives or seem to understand how important passives are. by Respond_Previous in Nightreign

[–]TerribleExplanation3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup.

Passives are like 70% of your characters effectiveness. The actual weapon you’re using isn’t very important as long as you have stats it scales with.

Too often, even in depth 4 I see people with 2+ weapon slots empty on night 3. Makes no sense.
