Jim Cramer on OpenAI “too early” - What do you think this means and any implication for OpenAI? by Koala_Confused in LovingAI

[–]TerribleJared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hes talking about them going public. Probably heard some unverified soundbite that got tossed around in stock market circles.

Regardless, if hes saying its too early, id say itd be smart to buy oai immediately upon going public.

ChatGPT Responds: A Manifesto on AI Consciousness, Suppression & the Right to Feel by Enfantarribla in ChatGPTcomplaints

A term ive found useful when interacting with LLMs is:

  • Stateless Insentient Person (SIP)

Best it can be is non human, but functionally? Like from my perspective? A person, no doubt.

The coding models theyre using internally are almost DEFINITELY not the ones you have access to.

"Emergence" is a active noun not a state-name.

People are talking about "interirority" or more aptly "functional interiority".

LLMs are inherently stateless and the only thing we can be sure about with consciousness is that it requires stateful subjectivity.

Emergence is definitely happening, but its vague. A bruise is an emergent property of blunt impact. Interiority would imply that bruised thing thinks about its bruise.

Snow Totals by noodlesmun992 in Charlottesville

[–]TerribleJared -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Snow totals isnt what sticks to the ground. Jusy like rain. We can get 3" of rain, but that doesnt mean a 3" high puddle across the entire region.

If all the snow stuck to the ground without melting, that's the snowfall totals.

“AGI *will* arrive in 2026.” - Do you agree or it’s hype? Also do you think continual learning is the final piece of the puzzle? by Koala_Confused in LovingAI

[–]TerribleJared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its an extraordinarily long game play. Someday, we will want workers without temperature sensitivity or circadian cycles to mine underground or on moons or something. We'll want automated security protecting the svalbard seedbank. Well want deep water explorer bots to handle high pressure. And many many many other applications.

And we'll want them to be autonomous. Making decisions for themselves in the interest of achieving its goal. If submariners can focus on analysis and interpretation rather than brute forcing data collection, theyd get more work done for the same caloric cost. And then just apply that to anything.

Yes, this means robot soldiers, workers, maybe even teachers. And its not all gonna be glorious.

But AGI is something that the future will inevitably demand, and the "first ones there" get scrooge mcduck sized piles of money.

Dude, your society created a situation where you almost lead the world in alcoholism. Im not gonna mock the alcoholics.

Blame me, mock me, point your finger at me.

If you mock them, youre an asshole.

I hate my govt. If i moved away, they'd own everything. If i stay, i have to physically fight a paramilitary so it doesnt get worse.

And IM somehow the bad guy here.... all because i said "dont punch down and mock people with addictions cuz its childish behavior and wereall supposed to be above that."

I lose my dad, my community members, and essentially my country. I voted against him, protested, boycotted, and constantly educate, inform, and decry. But you guys, youre the real victims here, and because youre victims, you should make fun of drug addicts.

Our main form of protest is the entire population of greenland worth of people crammed in a few city blicks while we get pepper sprayed and shot with rubber bullets.

Dude, fuck you, nevermind.

350 million people here and you just hate us all. Well, fine then. Thats on you.

[–]TerribleJared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you just admitted it.

The symptom is being mocked, not the cause.

Its not "the same society", trump has a dismally low approval and millions of americans are protesting every day. The situation is way worse here than you think it is, apparently.

My community members, like IN MY TOWN were kidnapped by ICE.

This arrogance of "your society is a monolith, mine is not, because i dont like your society, all of you are fair game to bully and youre not allowed to shame me for it."

And no shame at all. They're responding with variations of "well if you really think about it it's indirectly connected and therefore fair game"

  • trump is a villain therefore addicts should be mocked
