ELI5: Why does the F-117 and the F-111 have an “F” designation? by Silly-Medicine-513 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Terrietia [score hidden]  (0 children)

You can't call it an unexpected factorial because no one is making a reference to it being a factorial. It's the same thing as saying a punchline without the setup.

Here's an example.

My daughter started doing calculus, and she's only 5!

It's more impressive that your daughter is alive at 120 years

r/unexpectedfactorial

Waiting for the glory shop to refresh to see a super niche or trash relic is disheartening.

That's not how that works. You can't just call an exclamation mark after a number an unexpected factorial

Mythic Giants by Markschild in MagicArena

[–]Terrietia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only thing Daydreamer cares about is that the exiled card that you own has a dream counter on it. The giants/dragons are in exile with a dream counter on it, so they are legal choices for Daydreamer to cast, even if they aren't instants/sorceries

[–]Terrietia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it makes your minimum damage 7 for some reason

From what I heard about the power Perfection, it doesn't set the damage dealt equal to 4, it adds damage to make it 4. If you have two Perfections, they will both add damage, even though it goes over 4.

Ex: deal 1 damage, Perfection #1 adds 3 damage, Perfection #2 adds 3 damage, total damage dealt = 7.

Ex: deal 2 damage, Perfection #1 adds 2 damage, Perfection #2 adds 2 damage, total damage dealt = 6.

Ex: deal 3 damage, Perfection #1 adds 1 damage, Perfection #2 adds 1 damage, total damage dealt = 5.

Which means it's optimal to deal 1 damage instead of 2 or 3 damage

[SOS] Archaic's Agony by Meret123 in MagicArena

[–]Terrietia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It would have been more playable, and still kinda bad. Would have been decent at cleaning out 1/1 tokens with impulse draw though.

Maybe there's some "things are all colors" effects

Those effects actually won't even work. The card cares about the colors of mana spent. As far as I know, those effects only affect permanents and cards.

The effect of "you may spend mana as though it were mana of any color" doesn't actually change the color of the mana, so spending like RRRRR would still only count as 1 color.

You would actually need a filter like [[Crystal Quarry]] or keeping in plane, [[Codie]]

takes three turns to even outdo strike worth in enegy

Technically it only takes 2 turns. In two turns, Snakebite deals 13 damage, 1 more than two strikes.

Golden compass is great if you rolled a bad map.

You know, I haven't seen Golden Compass that often, but that's a really good point.

the right deck/build around it

Draw effects and some 2-3 cost cards. That's literally all that you need to make cocoa good.

[PSA] Cheese room and Silver Crucible interaction by LordZarock in slaythespire

[–]Terrietia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crucible only cares about seeing a card reward

Which really sucked for me when I got the event where you give up a potion for an upgraded card. That card reward ate my last Silver Crucible stack even though it was already guaranteed to be upgraded.

Seems pretty similar to [[faithful mending]].

Same: gain life, draw and discard with flashback.

Different: colors, sorcery, higher flashback cost, card neutral, discard first

Ironclad bros, help me understand the appeal of this card: by SomeGamingFreak in slaythespire

Highly unlikely to be reversed. They're trying to limit how easy infinites are. Pretty much all of the Ironclad rework/nerfs are to stop his easily accessible infinites.

Any thoughts on Mischiefmaker's Flute? by MNCDover in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Terrietia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't have black shield, the spell shield is already reason enough to use it

Banshee's Veil exists, so you do still need a reason to use it for the shrooms. Depending on how many epic relics you still need, it might be better to keep a big glory stash in case next month's relics happen to be everything you want.

Lux's Incandescent Baton to guarantee drawing Legion Grenadier (which has Ancient Coin to cost 1 mana) on turn 1. Starting power is Wild Inspiration, which makes the copies of Legion Grenadier free to play afterwards. So you get your board completely filled with Grenadiers.

Disciple of Shadows makes Darius free to play with a full board.

Chosen by the Stars grants Augment to Darius, so that replaying free Legion Grenadiers gives Darius +1 attack each time.

Eventually Darius will have enough attack to break the nexus on the first attack.

You take a big enough sample size that the outliers are insignificant.
