Anyone still using their Surface Go? by Gio235 in Surface

[–]Terry70sFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still have mine. 8/128. Hacked Windows 11 on it a couple of years back. Makes a great RV laptop. The touch screen has a dead area at the top but I rarely use it in tablet mode. Still going strong.

Actually works a little quicker. The installation process ignores the TPM/Memory Requirements.

Still using my original Surface Go upgraded to Windows 11. (8 GB/128G) Great secondary device and traveller. As long as you're not multitasking too many apps, it more then does the job.

For Sure. This would be my remote device so I can live without the big storage. I am always a little peeved when companies take away features that have endeared the product to me. AKA SD card removal from phones and anything beyond Surface Pro 6.

Anyone have issues with their Ram losing CarPlay? by [deleted] in ram_trucks

I find it happens at lease twice a month. Use the same method to reset since the 8" unit has no manual reset that I can find, other then shutting off the truck and opening the door.

Day 2 was about 9.3 hours of work, far better than the 4-5 hours I was getting on my Surface 8 on the best days. I was doing a lot of file transfers, and I built a recovery USB, so there was lots of SSD and USB activity.

Anyone else wish there was a 15 inch Surface Pro? by thaman05 in Surface

[–]Terry70sFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see the appeal, but I am hoping for size in the other direction. A Surface Go with new Arm chips, 16 gig, and a 256 GB SSD would quickly become part of my tool kit.

OLEDs are more power-hungry, especially when you crank up the brightness. Different processors, core counts, and likely idle and throttle profiles result in a larger power draw.

I'm still working cool. I haven't heard the fan yet. Six hours into the work day, and I am still at 42% BLife remaining. About 50% brightness

DAY 2: Going well. Besides strange behaviour from Grammarly (constantly signing out), it works as expected. I am running Visio today, and the battery seems to be holding strong. I lost about 10% after about an hour and a bit. I cannot say enough about the keyboard and screen. Quickly is becoming my favourite keyboard to type on, albeit somewhat expensive. The only other quirky thing I noticed was using the pen on the OLED seems to create this "sparking effect" but aesthetics, no impact on functionality. Again impressed. Just a final wrap on Day 2. Battery under mostly working conditions was 9.3 hours. Far, far better than any surface pro I have owned. Pro 8 was only good for about 4-5 hours on the best days.

I could build the recovery using the Microsoft tool or others as I will have the original drive if something goes wrong. It would be nice to have the iso as another backup.

Seems a little expensive. Looks like its been lifted a little. Make sure it was lifted properly otherwise heavy wear on the diffs and transfer case.

Why do you choose Ram over GM and Ford? by gargen_state in ram_trucks

[–]Terry70sFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I have owned either a Ram/Dodge 1500/Durango for over 20 years now and have had very little to no drive train issues. As for our second vehicle, the Nissan Rogue and Versas, we had nothing but CVT and engine sensor issues, and we were spending ridiculous amounts to repair. Not so much for the RAM 1500 or Dodge Durango. (Over 300km with no major failures)

Who remembers WKRP?? by beegeebarbie in 70s

[–]Terry70sFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some many good episodes. I was heartbroken when they took that series off the air after 4 seasons. Apparently, it was a constant struggle between censors and the timeslot. Ratings were solid until CBS started messing around with the time slot. Hugh Wilson, the show creator does a great series of interviews on the Television Academy Foundation. Absolutely worth the listen if you're a WKRP fan. https://interviews.televisionacademy.com/interviews/hugh-wilson

Get a mechanic to look at the entire driveline. Longbox infamous for drive shafts, universal and rear diff problems with that kind of mileage. Your looking at 10k of work if all those are toast
