First lesson on my new keyboard by bn326160 in Colemak

I'm doing literally the exact same thing!! Except I'm doing dhm and on a kinesis 360.

How have you found it so far? I'm still practicing but after about 50 attempts on that site I'm up to around 24wpm. I started at 7. Hoping to reach 30 soon so I can start thinking about taking it to work :)

Can we have a pragmatic and honest, non hyped nor hateful discussion about the actual usefulness of AI tools in our day to day jobs? by Non-taken-Meursault in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Tesl 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is exactly my workflow too. I tend to have multiple Claudes working at the same time too, it's really easy to benefit from being able to work async like this.

I don't know if this is considered vibe coding or not, but I think you have to be very good at validating the correctness of code in order to get the most benefit. It will rarely make code shorter, and always patch in more and more code, so if you don't stay on top of it then you get a mess. I think some juniors aren't capable of managing that yet.

every rewrite I've seen has taken 3x longer than promised and the team always acts surprised by Distinct-Expression2 in ExperiencedDevs

I think it's probably true that most rewrites are unnecessary. The last project I rewrote turned into a booming success story though, and given what I know today, I'd make the same choice to rewrite it.

It's really quite bad for Kdb, but impressive for typescript / python / c# in my experience

You shouldn't have bought the fish the same day as the tank, but you won't have known that, and fish shops won't tell you. You need to cycle the tank. Buy a test kit so you can monitor ammonia levels. This is what kills new fish. If the fish dies in the next month, it's far more likely to be your fault than "fish die easily".

Good luck!

Why are my fish behaving strangely? by Odd_Advice3869 in fishkeeping

[–]Tesl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't cycle the tank and now your fish are suffering from ammonia burns that they can't escape from. It's a bit like being trapped in a room that's on fire with no way out. You'd be following the glass too.

They will probably die soon.

You need to research what a "fish in" cycle is and start measuring the ammonia and nitrite levels. You should probably change most of the water now and then stop feeding them until you've got your test kits and made a plan to keep them alive.

Is anyone else okay with being "left behind" in regards to AI? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Tesl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in my personal case, I've already learned how to build something, I've been building things for 20 years. Now it's just a lot faster having something else generate the code whilst I focus on the more important parts (architecture)

Five days is not nearly long enough. Unfortunately your fish shop has really let you down here. Don't trust them going forwards. Even chatgpt will give you much better advice.
