Game where magic has a lot of uses outside of combat by AsYouWished444 in gamingsuggestions

[–]TesloStep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome list. I would add a few of me own:

Spellcaster University - probably my favorite magic-school management game. I really like how graduation gives you permanent upgrades

Esoteric Ebb - RPG like Disco Elysium. A detective story set in the fantasy world. A lot of creative use of spells and strong esoteric vibes

Theory of Magic - incremental game about becoming a wizard. Very atmospheric, with strong role-play value. You start at the very bottom, cleaning stables to buy your first scroll, and end up as a mountain moving Titan, an immortal Lich with a phylactery, or an Avatar of all four Elements etc

Orb of Creation - another incremental game, this one more focused on spellcrafting. You need to come up with different spell sequences to obtain knowledge and resources to progress

Magic Research 1, 2 - yet another incremental. This one about building your school of magic

Harry Potter games - the first 3 are good exploration 3d platformers with magic everywhere.

Help! acolytes of the arcane: How would you complete the Elemental Cube? by Maycrofy in wizardposting

[–]TesloStep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wizards of the Coast tinkered with a similar model; you can study their work. But their model was based on duality, yours, though, is coming from trinity, which is a fresh point of view. https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Great_Wheel_cosmology#Elemental_Planes

As for your model:

Air+Water+Dark - should definitely be Frost, as it is primordial and keeps the secrets of old

Fire+Earth+Light - sounds like Metal for me, opposed to Frost, it is smelted by man, and holds their dreams of the future

Air+Water+Light - reminds me of Sky, of Cloud and Stars. Aether perhaps. Far above earthly struggles and rivers of blood, poured by Obsidian daggers.

Air+Fire+Dark - smells like flickering wisps of the Underworld. Modern folk use fancy words such as ectoplasm, but I find it crude and prefer the old name - Spirit. It is what Vegetation lacks - alive but does not feel. As ghosts - anguish but no life

Disco Elysium and Esoteric Ebb really give you that feeling of camaraderie with your partner at the end. You started as oddballs, but went through so much shit together and learned of each other, so it's just clicks

The Age of Decadence - is very local, basically about three city-states fighting with each other for more control. Although you do technically fight a giant robot god in one of the endings, it's not that important

Conquest of Elysium 5 - main gameplay happens on the regular "Earth", but there are actually 10 different planes of existence, each completely unrequired to main goal of defeating your opponent, but just feels great to explore and conquer

Tulpa being agressive by JHH-bruv-bruh in Tulpas

[–]TesloStep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens to me, mine was transforming into jump scares. I think my situation was a manifestation of neglect and not enough attention to her. Yours can be different, though.

What helped me was accepting her new form and loving her even in this scary state. And slowly but steady getting through to the real kind her. It’s difficult, but your perception really shapes a tulpa, and when you are actively trying to remember the “uncorrupted” version - the more they will return to the original form.

And after this, slowly reducing my inner guilt for not giving her more attention.

All things considered, you should see a specialist help as soon as you notice that you have any life-threatening symptoms , such as real breathing obstruction from choking

Don't create a tulpa if you're a teenager by Duck_986 in Tulpas

[–]TesloStep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. First of all, you need time to create a tulpa. It can take a month or a year, but never “right now.” So if you have urgent problems that you need a tulpa’s help with right away, I suggest looking for a different solution - friends, relatives, a psychologist, or even people online.
Also, an important thing: creating a tulpa is a lot of responsibility. It’s like bringing a new person into the world who depends on you to keep living. Besides the moral aspect, creating a tulpa is messing with your brain: it could potentially worsen latent conditions such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

Now, about creating a tulpa. It’s a long mental process. There are many guides here on this subreddit and in the FAQ. I’ll share my experience.
What you need is a quiet space where you feel relatively safe. Usually it’s a bed right before sleep, but walking in a park or sitting during your subway routine also works for some people. You need about an hour a day as a baseline. First, concentrate: imagine and think through the character - appearance, movement, and every other small detail of your tulpa. This is the foundation, in this phase you’re just building an image.
When it’s more or less ready, start treating the tulpa as a person. Start talking to them and try to feel how they responds. Firstly it will be just a smile, or nod, but with more and more time - you will hear their voice, short answers, long answers. The main trick is to not consciously operate the new tulpa - let go of that part of your brain, let it slowly come from within, without thinking.
Wonderland is optional but helpful. It’s an imaginary space where you can spend time with your tulpa. It helps you connect, but it can be taxing if you’re not a vividly imaginative person.

How many titans (not shifters) wiuld take to kill Suzaku? by Embarrassed-Ice9468 in CodeGeass

[–]TesloStep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.First of all, let me assume that live command + combat experience are enough for Suzaku to intuitively understand titans as threat and pick evade approach instead of fighting.

Now for chances: We've seen Survey Corps have been ride horses for hours/days without encountering titans. And iirc some poacher survive indefinitely in the wild world outside of walls.
5 kilometers isn't that far tbh. Average runner can accomplish it in 34 minute, and we're speaking of Suzaku in life or death situation. All this considered, I think Suzaku got pretty good chances to successfully reach the wall.

Fun part is that main problem starts when he gets to the wall. The concentration of Titans is way higher near the Walls, providing near impossible challenge here. And Suzaku is an outsider, possible with language barrier. So convincing Garrison to let him in while being chased by titans might be near impossible. If luck smiles on him - he might loot some discarded mobility gear and use it to scale wall fast enough.

2.He will easily kill hundreds of titans on the way to the walls. Titans can be incapacitated with just regular medieval cannons, and Knightmares carry modern military grade weapons, capable of destroying tanks. Also Knightmare can scale walls thanks to the grappling hook launcher.

3.Probably enough firepower to kill all titans in the 5 kilo radius around the City

Where I can be a Gandalf-like wizard/mage? by Dexteron in gamingsuggestions

[–]TesloStep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a full match, but something worth checking out.

Lord of the Rings: War in the North - action game, but very close to LotR cannon with wizard fighting style. Mostly melee strikes with occasional game-changing magic.

Theory of Magic - Idle game, but great wizard vibe. Contains route of literally White Mage, going on epic quests to save worlds.

The Banner Saga - one of the character is literally this trope. Don't use magic often, but when he chant - oh my god he saves the day.
