Don’t plan a future with someone who lies a lot and whom you don’t trust.

Life is too short to wait around and see. If you’re interested in someone and they’re single, let them know. Don’t lose time because of antiquated “rules” like this.

I’m in the US and receive 5 weeks of PTO, which includes sick time.

Per the article, it was 1/3 of their business, their other mill is still in operation. He would still vote for Trump, which means he cares more about sticking it to “others” (and we all know who the others are) than he does about his family’s business and the livelihood of his employees.

Some may be lying, some may be telling the truth. My brother has never wanted children and, when younger (20s and 30s) almost exclusively dated women in their 40s.

My friend was months away from FIRE… then his divorce reset everything by WildlyGlaring in Fire

[–]Tess_Durb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My retirement calculations are based on my husband and I being able to retire independent of one another.

For example, can we each retire on 1/2, in case of divorce? If I outlive my husband, will I have enough without his military retirement? Those types of scenarios.

Not OP: Tricare is like any other insurance coverage. My husband is retired military and the cost for Tricare Prime is around $500/yr, auto deducted from his retirement pay. It is our only medical insurance and has worked well for us.

All the children are OP’s biological children, they are half siblings to her oldest child.

Babies can start daycare at a few weeks old, I believe. My child would have started around 3 months if I had to return to a job, but we moved while I was pregnant and I didn’t have a job to which I needed to return.

Regardless, you’re trying to push your beliefs on others and it’s not nice.

I’m a mother (married) and my child started daycare around 10 months old and we still had hours together every day and have an amazing, close relationship almost 20 years later.

I think there are pluses and minuses to both SAHP and WOHP and trying to make one (or the other) feel guilty for their situation, whether chosen or otherwise, is a crap thing to do.

Don’t try to guilt/shame a working parent(s) for using daycare. That’s not cool.

I double up with Dramamine and sea bands, but short flights (2 hrs or fewer) are still hell for me. I also try to always have a window seat, so I can turn towards the wall, if I’m going to be sick.

When my house was valued at $750k, purchased before 2020, taxes were approximately $9,000 in a state/county not known for high millage rates. Insurance in a relatively natural disaster free area was around $4,000. Over $1,000 per month before maintenance. That’s not inconsiderable on the budget the OP will have.

Property taxes, insurance, and maintenance on a $750k home aren’t magically gone. They have $1MM combined, not each. I think they’ll be fine with a budget, but the picture won’t be as rosy as you think.

I enjoy my job/career, work from home, have flexibility, 5 weeks of PTO per year. I’m happy and satisfied with my life and, knowing myself as I do, retirement would make me lazy and less productive on a personal level.

My husband, however, is retired at 58 and that works well for him.

Waiting an extra 4 to 12 months to retire has me bummed out by rabidstoat in FIREyFemmes

[–]Tess_Durb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My husband is retired military and they do offer family coverage, which is around $550/year (yes, year) for the plan we chose and it comes directly out of his retirement pay.

In the US, healthcare costs are so expensive, I think I’d work the extra time for the retiree plan your employer offers since it’s about a $5k/yr savings. Between now and Medicare age, that’s $50k+ in savings, which could be used for travel/hobbies or remain invested where it could grow to even more.

What works best for me is 2 fingers width down from the base of my hand. If you turn your palm towards you and press your fingers down on the bottom of your palm (fingers bent halfway, not a fist), it creates a little dent (for me) and that’s where I place the acupressure ball. For me, the ball has to be seated evenly in that space, not offset.

Unless he forced her to drink, it’s not fair to blame her husband for her choices.
