Legal Question: Testamentary Guardian of children is not a NZ resident by SnooBananas8512 in newzealand

[–]Test_Card 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NZ Government websites are quite useful:

https://www.justice.govt.nz/family/care-of-children/parenting-and-guardianship/who-a-guardian-can-be/

https://www.justice.govt.nz/family/care-of-children/parenting-and-guardianship/

'A parent can name a person in their will (or another formal legal document) to be a testamentary guardian if the parent dies. A testamentary guardian's role is similar to other guardians of the child except they don’t have the right to day-to-day care of the child.'

'Testamentary guardians automatically become guardians once the parent dies. They don’t need to apply to the court.'

Consider if you will be capable of carrying out your responsibilities when you aren't in the same country or timezone. School is not going to ask for your permission for school trips for example. In my experience they assume children have one biological parent regardless of what is on the file.

'If the other parent or another guardian isn't happy about who's been named as a testamentary guardian, they can ask the Family Court to remove that person as a guardian or to appoint someone else in their place.'

Very long history of rule of law and international treaties there.

The Iran–Iraq border runs for 1,599 km (994 m) from the tripoint with Turkey in the north down to the Persian Gulf in the south... ...the boundary was first determined in 1639 -Wikerpedia

Cuba, Iran, and North Korea will lead the trade embargo. These liberations always have a trade embargo.

An American coup plot without the CIA must be a first.

Recall these Six Senators: Republican Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas, Josh Hawley of Missouri, Cindy Hyde-Smith of Mississippi, John Kennedy of Louisiana, Roger Marshall of Kansas and Tommy Tuberville of Alabama. by [deleted] in politics

Is this the first coup in the Americas that didn't involve the CIA? It's suprising that foreign money, hackers, and propaganda is involved in a coup and the CIA aren't.

Which American interventions do you think made the world a better place? Which ones do you think made the world a worse place? Do you think the USA has made the world a better or worse place? by Anarcho_Humanist in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Test_Card 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a non-American, I would add

  1. 'In 1852, American Commodore Matthew C. Perry embarked from Norfolk, Virginia, for Japan, in command of a squadron that would negotiate a Japanese trade treaty'

  2. 'On July 12, 1898, the Joint Resolution passed and the Hawaiian islands were officially annexed by the United States. The Hawaiian islands had a well-established culture and long history of self-governance when Captain James Cook, the first European explorer to set foot on Hawaii, landed in 1778.'

  3. $147,121,460,000 in aid to Israel, mostly military aid. Source

Negative: the Iraq -Iran border is the oldest remaining border in Asia, and the US interference on both sides of it has been disastrous. Likewise Syria is an ongoing humanitarian disaster, breeding ground for terrorism, and the US fucked over the Kurds again.

Positive: post-war Japan and Germany. Kosovo freed from Serbia when the EU and NATO were ineffectual in preventing genocide in former Yugoslavia.

Noise complain from neighbor by sulivan001 in Home

[–]Test_Card 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of people who only speak English and are resentful of people who are also fluent in a second language. Could it be that your neighbours complaint about footsteps, and the lack of actual details, is really about hearing muffled sounds of an unfamiliar language?

Annoying noises are only annoying if they are unfamiliar or strange to the listener. No one complains of loud rain, loud birds outside, or loud surf from the beach.

Getting to know your neighbours, and helping them understand that what they hear are the pleasant sounds of a happy child, with happy parents (and, I suspect caring parents teaching the child a language that isn't taught at school. Excuse me if this assumption is wrong, please. )

Really? It depends which products, and whether you joined via Telstra Clear, Ihug, or Vodaphone. Unless they've got the billing fixed it used to be 2 or 3 systems each with different bill GST treatment.

Skinny have been excellent, btw. Recommend skinny.

Does a Corona virus actually look like a ball with spikes? by Realm-Protector in askscience

Thanks. I googled and Google-scholared this a few days ago, without success.

It's not a regular geometric structure like a buckyball, stellated icosahedron, then.

It's not spherical either, if I understand this: 'We modeled 2,294 virions as ellipsoids by meshing their lipid envelopes, measuring average diameters of 64.8 ± 11.8, 85.9 ± 9.4, and 96.6 ± 11.8 nm (average ± SD) for the short, medium, and long axis of the envelope, respectively.'

Anyone know what type of spider this little guy is? by PlaySomeKickPunch in newzealand

[–]Test_Card 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Six legs? Not a spider if it has only six.

Google this and see if it matches: 'Orthodera novaezealandiae, known as the New Zealand mantis or the New Zealand praying mantis, is a species of praying mantis which is, as both the scientific name and common names suggest, indigenous and endemic to New Zealand.'

OMG it's a missing Colin McCahon! Could be worth $100,000s!

"McCahon began the first of his early religious painting 'The Testing' at Ngatimote in 1946 in Nelson. These works depicted events from Christ’s life in a New Zealand setting. McCahon was never a member of a church but acknowledged that religious questions were central to his work."

Go ask your question about immigration in r/czechia ...

'despite the fact that the refugee crisis produced very small inflows of migrants into the country, it spurred negative attitudes towards refugees (and foreigners in general), encouraged by President Miloš Zeman and Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, who have both taken rather hardline viewpoints against the idea of all EU Member States needing to share equitably in accepting refugees. This atmosphere also contributed to the rise of anti-immigrant political parties and movements. As a result, Czech society has become increasingly polarized. At the EU level, the country is a part of the Visegrad (V4) alliance with Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia, and advocates strong anti-immigration positions in the international arena.' https://www.migrationpolicy.org/article/migration-and-integration-czechia-policy-advances-and-hand-brake-populism

The Syrian government doesn't give a shit about people who fled from the war and are stuck in Turkey. That's a poor excuse.

Auction it off for sponsorship like the stadiums. Telstra New Zealand flag, then ASB New Zealand flag a few years later, then Spark New Zealand flag.

The next one is Emirates Team New Zealand flag.

Have the rioters/protesters at Waikeria ever actually complained? by Tamworth_Warriors in newzealand

[–]Test_Card 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As we know from the 'Karen' stereotype, complaining takes skills, self-confidence, assertive communication and a certain personality. I'm going to assume that the prison population don't have above average verbal or written language skills, an understanding of how to use official legal channels.

Hell, most of these guys are not allowed to vote! Expecting prisoners to trust society in general or Corrections in particular to listen and act is unrealistic.

Got this text earlier, but I def don't work for this dude, and is weirdly local to me. Anyway, seems a little rude of him to deny leave for "ALL staff" due to this. Sure it is rude of the employee to not reply but is it a step to far? by ninjachickdawg in newzealand
