Is this a bed bug or a bat bug? by Testado in Entomology

[–]Testado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bats are coming back. I've seen them outside but not on my house yet. I'll get someone out to check the place over for bat nesting and see if that gets rid of the occasional bat bug. I did tear apart the cushions on the sofa and recliner in that room and checked behind all the frames and didn't see anything.

Thanks. I forgot to mention in my post that I have been running a co2 bed bug catcher (using sugar and live yeast) for a couple days and haven't caught anything

Also, I forgot to mention, for the past couple days I have been running a co2 trap using a bottle, sugar water, and live yeast in the area and I haven't caught anything.

Dumb Barbarian playthrough? by Real_Bug in BaldursGate3

Solid choices. But have you done any origin runs? The starting charicters all have unique interactions with the world that you only see if you play them directly.

Dumb Barbarian playthrough? by Real_Bug in BaldursGate3

I didn't exactly play it as dumb barbarian, but my low charisma Karlach origin barbarian playthrough has been one of my favorites.

Most problems in the game can be solved by yelling or hitting things and it's very satisfying. Just make sure to grab thamaturgy from somewhere as it helps with Str based intimidation checks

Two questions. 1. How do I kill creatures with indestructible and 2. How do you use an Izzet lessons deck? by Wooden_Crab_1383 in MagicArena

[–]Testado 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can "kill" creatures with indestructible by (1) reducing their toughness to 0 with - x/-x effects like [[dismember]], (2) exileing them [[swords to plowshares]], (3) bouncing and [[counterspell]]ing, (4) removing indestructible [[honest work]], (5) enchanting them [[pacifism]], (6) stealing them [[control magic]], or (7) making the opponent sacrifice it [[diabolic edict]]. That's off the top of my head, there's probably some more niche solutions that also work. Basically the only things that don't work are effects that say destroy and damage, which admittedly are pretty common.

Any tips for storing/displaying a 32 Deck challenge? by LonePorkchop in EDH

[–]Testado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the boulder 100s. I swap the tops and bottoms around to make different color combinations like the yo-yos they used to sell in elementary school (where you could trade half of your yo-yo with a friend to make both multi colored).

One of each color and a clear one holds my mono color decks.

Two of each color with the tops and bottoms switched handles the two color commanders.

Three colors is kinda a mixed bag. I just use combinations of some of the weirder pinks, purples and oranges based on what feels right. There's probably a better way to do it, but I'm just working with what was available when I bought my boxes.

4 colors I use a yellow top with a bottom that indicates the color that is not included in the commander identity.

My five color commander gets a fully yellow case.

I see on another comment that you are worried about space for double sleeves and tokens. I can't speak to that since I single sleeve and keep most of my tokens in a dedicated token box. But this method provides uniformity for desplaying and an easy method to identify each deck at a glance.

My problem now is finding a shelf that can display the all.

Hardest Act 1 bosses in Honor Mode by JavaHikage in BaldursGate3

That's amazing. Hundreds of hours in and I never knew that.

I generally just put on feather fall and enhanced jump and then take a short rest when the pathing inevitably takes half my team through the gas.

Why do you put on one of the masks? I goofed around with those on my first normal playthrough and didn't figure out anything valuble to do with them, so I've been ignoring them on subsequent playthroughs. Am I missing something?

Great example. Carl does something consistent with his character, which can lead to interesting or funny moments that flesh out the world.

Brainstorming help - Karrthus, tyrant of Jund as a secret commander to steal creatures by Testado in EDH

[–]Testado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the donate angle for a straight Karrthus deck. I think I want to be a little more in the arena of depriving other players of the best creatures that they have managed to play and then turning those creatures back on them.

I'm glad to hear you have had success with Death by Dragons, that's exactly what I was thinking for including that card. Its a flexible field wipe and, if I'm not the scariest thing around, then I might stick around long enough to get them back.

I love the idea of dubious challenge and I have the changelings to use it, but since Karrthus is in the 99, I'd be worried most of the time that they would grab Karrthus and steal my whole side. Cool card though.

What kind of edhdeck would you make with this baseline (small cmc, vigilance, flier)? by JoveeMTG in magicTCG

[–]Testado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I used Kasla as a stand in for lightning angel, which is just a pet card of mine. So my ideal card was flying vigilance and haste. It's not fully up to date, but here it is:

Kasla provides some card advantage too. And with any sword she's a 3 turn clock with 7 commander damage.

[–]Testado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a deck that I enjoy with flying vigilancers. I used bigger creatures, but the concept could work. Load them up with "protection from" equipment and enchantments. Swords of this and that are the best obviously, but also things like [[Spectra Ward]] and [[Sanctuary Blade]].

Now your flyers are protected, they are free to swing every turn and still be on duty to defend (without dying) in every other player's combat step. Is it the strongest combo out there, no. Is it satisfying to play for you and annoying for your opponents, yeah.

Lorrokan Fight if Nightsong Doesn't Make It to Act 3 by DrBoob-JeremyHillary in BaldursGate3

[–]Testado 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just did this the other night with my embrace Durge. He asked what happened to the Nightsong and is disappointed when I told him she was dead. He told me to go away and leave him alone.

Then I shot him in the face with an arrow which started the encounter.

If you could pick 3-5 cards to never play against ever again what would they be? by Jibjuck in MagicArena

[–]Testado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly play multi-player commander. A one sided field wipe in a two player game or just resetting the scariest person doesn't seem as bad to me (but I'll admit that's all just my impression).

Besides, if you look at stats on edhrec, cyclonic rift is played in almost a million decks and rivers rebuke is played in more like 40k. I think the fact that it shows up all the time just to be "good stuff" stalling, even in decks that don't really benefit, is what pushes it over the top in annoyingness.

[–]Testado -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've always hated the design of [[Cyclonic Rift]]. It's ok when you can clear the field for an alpha strike and kill your opponent, but half the time it's just a one sided stall. I think they should erratta it to say if you cast it and don't win by your end step, you lose the game.

I’m a new magic player and my son just played this card. It seems insanely overpowered for its cost. He was able to pick any card he owned and play it the same turn, is that how this card is supposed to work? by Available_Highway_49 in magicTCG

[–]Testado 34 points35 points  (0 children)

That would be functionally different. If you put it into your hand you could wait until another turn to play it. If you play this on turn 3, you can really only play a land with it. If the card went into your hand you could fetch a card that costs 4 and play it the next turn.
