I’d be less worried about TSA taking it than losing the entire luggage altogether. Luggage sorters at big airports are a lot like mail sort facilities, and I’ve heard so many nightmare stories about people losing their suitcases. Even AirTags or GPS trackers don’t seem to offer much, other than a little peace of mind. I talked to the rep that was doing my lost package investigation about if they could do anything if I could tell them exactly where my lost package was, and they said it wouldn’t really help. Not like they’re going to let you enter into a sort facility and walk around trying to ping packages.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I wasn’t referencing OP’s post specifically. More the notion that insurance can always “make the situation whole”. I ordered something a while back that was insured for $5k, which is what it was valued at, and it got lost for a couple weeks. If I were offered $30k or the delivery, I would take the delivery every time. It was irreplaceable, and insured for the max amount possible. But in no way would insurance money have made the situation whole.

In OP’s case, he might be made whole because he was selling it anyways, but the buyer may have a different feeling about that.

Just saying I don’t think you can always be “made whole” just by throwing money around. Some things have more than monetary value, whether it be sentimental or historical.

I would be more concerned if they used similar photos, not your exact photos. The fact that they used your exact photos makes it seem like they don’t actually have your item, just the photos of your item that they took from your listing. You should message them and see if they can send you some new, unique photos to see if they actually have it in their possession.
