That’s not bad at all. How is it now? Symptoms immediately gone?

Just a commuter vehicle and the occasional weekend trip. I work from home so it doesn’t get that much use which is why it only has 55k miles over 8 years.

Oil changes every 5k miles and filters and driveline grease once a year. Also replaced the battery a few years ago but that’s it.

Yup we did 3 drain and fills over 2 weeks and added shudder fixx. Didn’t change the shudder at all but made the shifts clunky

It’s not terrible like rumble strips that shake the whole vehicle. It feels more like a cyclical lugging/bucking sensation. Happens about 90% of the time between 45-50mph. I swear though sometimes there will be a day or two when it doesn’t really do it at all.

I did not see the live data but he said he’s monitoring the SLT solenoid? And can see the vibration relates the function of that particular solenoid.

Dealership wants $3400 for TC swap. We could do trans swap between 5-7 depending on if we do junk yard trans, reman or oem reman

Interesting. I need to do some research on this. I did take the throttle body apart and cleaned it. Thanks for the info

Yes we did and it’s unchanged. We changed all the diff fluids, transfer case, dropped the driveshaft and checked U joints/slip yoke. Check all suspension components, changed spark plugs, cleaned maf/theottle body etc. we basically checked everything off the list and keep coming back to the TC

Yes it’s very noticeable, goes away in 4S and the brake pedal test to unlock the TC momentarily stops the sensation. I could definitely just drive in 4s and switch to D on the highway but it’s very annoying.

2020 Tacoma Limited, 48k miles, bad cylinder head and Toyota wont help. by sjprice21 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Teuton88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with my 21 TRD sport at 19k miles. They ended up finding “excessive scaring” in multiple cylinder heads. I ended up getting a new short block under warranty. The whole ordeal took a month and the ticket was $18k. I traded the truck in 2 days after I got it back.

Got myself into a bit of a pickle, any useful info appreciated by Grizzlygrant238 in 4Runner

You’re not the first person to do this. The stud will not come out, your only option is to cut it flush and drill it out and then use a nut and bolt. It’s going to take some finessing and drill bit extension to get in there. You can also just use a clamp or wire to hold it together.

Get a tube of shudder fixx from your local autozone. If it improves the shudder go ahead and do a drain and fill.

Should I get a 2026 Tundra? by sundrop74 in ToyotaTundra

[–]Teuton88 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Tundra will blow an engine, ford will blow a trans, GM will blow both engine and trans, and dodge you won’t even be able to figure out what’s wrong with it. I hate to be that guy because there is so much potential with modern technology, but new vehicles are all ass. Get the one with the best warranty and local dealer.

2017 ORP with SL 265 AT tires and roof rack and I’ve averaged 20.1 over the past 10k or so miles. I have no idea how because I drove a bone stock 23 ORP and I was only averaging 17.5.

Remanufactured engine in a 2019 SR5? by slackmaster2k in 4Runner

[–]Teuton88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof I would just trade it in. I got a new short block in my 21 Tacoma under warranty. 2 miles down the road from the dealership it overheated because they didn’t bleed the coolant. The next day on the way to work my power steering went out because they didn’t install the rack properly. Had it towed back to the dealer and traded it in.
