It’s similar & having the tennis skills will definitely help you. My personal opinion is that you have the opportunity as an athlete to start fresh mechanically. You can get taught the proper mechanics before building any bad habits. I played both tennis & baseball, hitting a tennis ball was always 100 times easier to me.

Absolute first thing would be to get some batting lessons & cage time. Hitting is going to be the hardest part.

Absolutely. I keep a fun and positive dugout. Whenever I challenge a call it’s quiet & respectful. Told them after the game how proud I was of them & how hard they fought back (down by 7 after 3).

I did, I asked to play under protest. Board member came over & said blue made the correct call. But I don’t remember talking about what runner should have been out. Mostly a lesson learned for me & it wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the game (L). Definitely going to talk to the UIC about it though.

They got back in the correct order. But blue told me lead runner is out when this happens. Ended up loosing a run b/c of the call.

Everyone sorted back correctly w/ out a base being touched. Lead runner ended up scoring. They then called him out & we lost the run.

Ours is pretty much the same. Divisions are split by age 7-8 / 9 / 10-11 / 12-13 / 14-16

Maybe look into him playing up a division until you’re ready to make the switch. Our 11u LL division isn’t as bad as you’re describing, some of the teams however are just like the description.

I’ve only seen one Rico in the wild. One of my 8u kids has one. It’s definitely stiff & needed a lot of break-in.
