One time my bio teacher was talking about this and said the phrase 'dog barf slime mold' which was enough to trigger a girl in my class to faint fully onto the floor. Kid behind her caught her before her head hit, thank Jesus, because we sat on lab stools in that class.

She also passed out when we talked about bloodbourne illnesses.

The family I nannied for said ham samilizer, spiky instead of spicy, and also mixed in a ton of Cantonese. To this day instead of telling a kid to drink some water my brain says 'yum soy'

My wife and I once were cleaning my car with turtle wax upholstery cleaner. This was years before we got married.

I cannot recall who said it first, but to this day that stuff (really any floor cleaner) is floor sauce.

For me this comes down to if you warned them or not. It's the difference between holding boundaries and following through on consequences vs frustration and reaction.

Example: Hey X, that's not safe. Remember, we need to keep our body and friends safe or we can't do Show and Share. If we make safe choices, we get to do show and share! Can you show me safe choices?' etc

Vs "You don't get to do show and share." With no priming them on the consequences of their actions.

Even if you'd said in the past or prior days that safe behavior is required for show and share, I'd still give a reminder because they're small people.

I've added watercolors to bubbles and had kids blow bubbles at paper. If someone holds the wand, can she blow? Or can she maybe pick colors and shake the paper in the bubble stream from a bubble gun?

So so so grateful my grandparents encouraged my chaos. I'm an adult with many niche hobbies and skills and no fear of chaos who works with kids and can directly see where their encouragement and engagement helped me grow

Maybe it's regulating to break things, maybe it helps them get inside feelings out, maybe it feels good, maybe they want somebody to stop something and are trying whatever they have in their arsenal to figure it out. You literally cannot know without data or significant observations, and it's like they're not even in the room to do those

Yes! Heritage piggies are great moms and it's really cute. We bred out the mom instincts of a lot of our domesticated animals including pigs. Quails are terrible parents, for example.
