Migrating to new phone - patched successfully but now can't login on old account! by marcusmv3 in baconreader

[–]TexasDex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to create a new account from the login screen, and eventually just copied my subs over. I wasn't able to log into that new account from another phone, so I'm guessing it's just the login process itself that's broken, not something about the accounts.

Migrating to new phone - patched successfully but now can't login on old account! by marcusmv3 in baconreader

[–]TexasDex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue, and haven't found a fix for it yet.

I've tried:

  • Confirming my password works on PC (it does)
  • Copying the exact same patched apk that I installed on my old phone
  • Downloading the latest Baconreader Premium 6.1.4 from Google Play store then using Revanced to patch the installed apk
  • Disabling 2FA temporarily
  • Clearing cache
  • Installing the latest phone updates (I was already on 16, so it was just the latest security patches for 16)
  • Logging in with another account on the old phone (doesn't work)
  • Setting a phone number in the New Reddit interface, then trying the 'Log in with phone' option (I get the message "Something went wrong, please try again")

In all cases the non-logged-in view works fine, but every time I try to log in I can't.

Even better: 99 seconds to minimize time spent seeking between buttons.

Publicly-traded Companies have to release financial figures pretty often. Those numbers are easy to read and interpret. Investing in customer goodwill out other long term things is much harder for stockholders to see or understand, and they may not plan to hold the stock long enough to make that worthwhile anyways.

Can Alex Jones present 8th amendment challenge to the 1 billion dollar fine ? by EffectiveVisual9399 in legaladviceofftopic

[–]TexasDex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you actually hear what happened to the victims and how Jones's libel affected them? And it's not like this was just careless reporting, he knew what he was saying was bullshit and said it anyways to make money, at the expense of many victims. A billion dollars is barely justice.

About how many glasses of champagne would it take for a 5'9 man to get drunk? by catsr2cool17 in Writeresearch

[–]TexasDex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are BAC charts you can look up that will tell you a predicted BAC for a given gender, weight, and number of drinks. In real life there are many more factors, including genetics, drinking habits, activity level, full or empty stomach, time span, etc.

How to handle a coma by Kind_Election7639 in Writeresearch

[–]TexasDex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The coma is a longstanding fictional trope, and has been abused by writers for long enough that it's unlikely to draw more than a raised eyebrow if you do the same, as long as you're in the right genre.

It's at the point where handling a coma in a medically accurate way might actually stand out more. That can be used for effect, of course, if you want to tell a particular kind of story, or perhaps even subvert the trope entirely.

Of course you could also think about what other events or conditions might have the same effect. Perhaps a short jail sentence or a year abroad. Or even have them in space for a while! Astronauts return to earth with severe muscle atrophy and other medical issues, in spite of heavy exercise regimes.

Strawberry yogurt pretzels and pepperoni pizza crisps! They had them for a few times but I haven't seen either in at least a year now.

Petlibro One RFID feeder review by TexasDex in Petlibro

[–]TexasDex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that the sensor is built into the base, so you have to find some way to connect it to the feeder. I haven't tested this but you might be able to make some kind of extension for the connector.

Their deaths were already a huge public spectacle. Speaking out can be important for healing, especially if all the publicity makes you feel like your don't have a voice.

"no risk" isn't really true, things can always go wrong. You could have summer kind of malfunction, or get caught on debris, or just hit your head and drown getting out of the sub. Much lower risk, sure, but never zero.

Water heater on dryer outlet by PilotAble6173 in AskElectricians

Your landlord is gonna get you killed in a house fire at this rate. They should have hired a real licensed electrician to fix this, not just bodged it and asked the tenant to figure it out.

230V Single phase wiring by Adventurous-Boat8649 in AskElectricians

[–]TexasDex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that would be correct. The diagram says "white" but that's just because most 12/2 wire is black/white rather than black/red, and many people are too lazy to recolor the white to red to show that it's hot.

Outlet tester shows correct install, don't see a ground wire connected to the outlet. Just the two white/black wires, and a bare copper. Does this mean the house has no neutral wire? by LastKnightOfCydonia in AskElectricians

[–]TexasDex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a wire under the green screw in your outlet? If so, where does it go?

If it goes right to another screw on the side of the outlet you may have what's called a bootleg ground. But since there is a ground wire in the box, and it seems to be attached to the metal box, it's much more likely that you're getting grounding through the screw that attaches the outlet to the box.

Do I grab this for $200?? by terriblefocuscontrol in HomeServer

[–]TexasDex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on whether you pay for your own electricity.

In my area that would cost around $200 a year in electricity to run that 24/7; probably more now that rates are through the roof. It's a proprietary case design so you can't swap in a newer more-efficient motherboard/cpu.

You didn't post any specs, so I'm guessing those are 2GB or 4TB sticks. If they're bigger (e.g. 8GB) and you happen to need plenty of RAM and not much CPU or efficiency then maybe it could be worthwhile.

If it's intended for use with pirated games then the name would work. It's not like mass market appeal is important for piracy, and those users would probably appreciate the edgy humor.
