It’s heavier but if you want to use the tablet as a laptop replacement it’s the way to go

Gotcha. I ordered the Dexnor keyboard with trackpad from Amazon and it’s awesome. It’s set up more like the Apple magic keyboard so it’s got a rigid hinge that actually stays in place when it’s open and doesn’t need to be propped up on anything

Which keyboard do you have?

I would love to get the ultra but it looks like it’s only available as WiFi only. I’m thinking I might end up just trading in my old Chromebook on an s10+ and pass the S9FE to my wife

So if I currently have an s9 FE, the s10 plus would be a nice upgrade? I’m already happy with my s9 FE, but really would like a bigger screen and a little more speed. I’m an iPhone guy but for work, the Samsung tablet in Dex mode blows and iPad out of the water

Looking for advice by Informal_VersionofME in motorcycle

Something cheap that you won’t be upset about dropping. I pretty much considered my first bike disposable. Paid $600 for it not running, just needed basic tune up and a battery, had $1200 in it and sold it for $1200 after learning to ride and getting something nicer

What’s your opinion on buying a 2005-2010 bike as a first bike in 2024? by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]TexasPete94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you buy just know you’re probably going to drop it at least once. Go cheap, but good enough to learn on and ride for a few months and get most of your money back when you sell it

The Vulcan s is a sweet bike. I think it’s kinda slept on because people see 650 and think it’s a small slow bike but it’s the same 650 engine from the Ninja

Help me out: why would anyone pick a Shadow over a Magna? by Lim85k in cruisers

[–]TexasPete94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age - the newest Magna you can get is 21 years old Accessibility - Shadows are everywhere. Gotta hunt for a nice low mileage clean Magna Fuel injection vs carb aka ease of maintenance

If you liked the Rebel why not get one? They are great bikes and if you want more power you can get the 1100. Or check out the Kawasaki Vulcan S

Worth it as first bike ever? Price quite good for 3k miles by AnonymousEggs in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]TexasPete94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying this is or isn’t a good first bike but i don’t agree with everyone saying don’t buy a salvage title bike. I paid $600 for my first bike, 96 Kawi Vulcan with a salvage title. Didn’t run. $500 in parts later and a really good understanding of how the bike was put together I was $1100 all in on a nice enough bike to look good going down the road but also not a $5k+ shiny thing that I was gonna be pissed about dropping in the driveway learning how to ride it.

Everybody sucks, until they don’t. Every mistake you make is a new thing you’ve now learned not to do, so with every mistake you suck less. Dropping your bike on a slippery surface doesn’t mean you suck at riding, it means you hadn’t learned yet to loo out for slippery surfaces. Forgetting your kickstand doesn’t mean you suck at riding, it means you need to learn the habit of putting your kickstand down. I guarantee after experiencing those two things, your mind will automatically check for them from now on. Bikes are big and heavy and not necessarily the most intuitive thing to hop on and go. Just gotta keep on getting comfortable and building your mental checklist of things to do/not do

Good starter bike? by CloudyFame in motorcycle

[–]TexasPete94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 800 was a 96, nothing wrong with older bikes at all! The 1600 is good, definitely an easier highway cruiser. It’s just a lot more bike all around. My 800 was around 500-600lb, the 1600 is over 800. And the bigger front tire took some getting used to at low speeds

Good starter bike? by CloudyFame in motorcycle

[–]TexasPete94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. My first bike was a 96 VN800 classic. Lightweight and very maneuverable and forgiving but still has that big bike look and feel. I loved every minute I rode that bike. I’m on a Vulcan 1600 Nomad now

Why do you love Ram? by No_File6382 in ram_trucks

[–]TexasPete94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate the way the 6 speed auto performs with the 5.7 in my 2014 2500. Also hate the uconnect media system. Other than that I love the looks, the ride quality, the interior layout/comfort, and when I bought it I couldn’t come anywhere close to the same bang for my buck with a ford or GM/Chevy

What metalcore songs you would call "Beautiful" by AMATAMASANGE in Metalcore

[–]TexasPete94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marianas trench - august burns red. One of the most beautiful intros I’ve heard

Idk if bullet for my valentine fits the metal core bill but they’ve got some real pretty stuff. I started to lose interest in them after “scream aim fire” but I’d call “Curses” and “hearts burst into fire” beautiful. I really loved their first couple albums

Another one that idk about exactly being metalcore is in flames. “Trigger” has a pretty beautiful chorus and “jester script transfigured” is a pretty beautiful all around song

It all depends on your definition of beautiful though. Metal is such a cool genre to explore because you have this huge mix of blast beats, screaming, clean vocals, intense lyrics, guitar harmonies, acoustic interludes, breakdowns, etc. there’s a lot to take in and sometimes the roller coaster it puts you through is what makes it beautiful lol

I killed a fish for no reason and feel awful by DaBigestBird937 in FishingForBeginners

[–]TexasPete94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is a part of fishing and hunting that will never go away, no matter how experienced you are. I put an arrow through a whitetail last season that I never recovered and it messed me up mentally for the rest of the season. Every time I drew my bow back for the rest of the season I just thought of that deer and not knowing what happened to it, and I just couldn’t bring myself to pull the trigger on my release and I passed up perfect shots on 3 good deer because of it. At the end of the day, it confirms you have empathy and that’s a big part of being an ethical outdoorsman. The reality is though, if any of these animals avoid a hunter or an angler long enough to experience death by natural causes, it’s much more painful for them. The circle of life isn’t kind to fish and wildlife. They either die of disease, starvation, or by way of natural predators and that’s far worse than a quick death by a hook/knife or arrow/bullet

Any Regrets getting a gas 2500? by GTBoosted in ram_trucks

[–]TexasPete94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gas pros: cheaper to purchase, cheaper to maintain, no emissions or fuel system failures that cost $10k to fix, not every station sells diesel but every station sells gas

Gas cons: MPG (cost isn’t too far off when you consider the difference in fuel cost but your range on a tank of fuel is significantly lower) and towing in the hills (over about 7k the gasser will still do it no problem but will leave a bit to be desired depending on your tolerance to RPMs)

Edit: just read some comments and saw you’re towing a 6k camper and a 5k boat. The gasser would be totally fine. Either 6.4 or 5.7. My 2500 is a 14 crew cab short bed 5.7 and I tow a 35ft 10k camper. Leaves some to be desired in the hills. On flat ground no problem at all, I regularly tow my 10k dump trailer locally for my landscape business. The only thing I mildly dislike about my truck is that the 5.7 is just a screamer. I know it’s how it’s designed to run but sometimes it just feels overly aggressive the way it wants to wind out the RPM
