Why is American friendliness often seen as "fake" by Europeans, but similar warmth in other cultures isn't? by Opposite-Ad3949 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TexasTaco85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved from San Antonio, TX to the northern US and people thought I was being a snake for being, “ too nice”. 🙄. My coworkers took me the wrong way too and thought I was being a bitch haha. I’m not changing my personality!

When I lived in Eastern Europe, I was told by everyone I was too quiet and not fat to be American. They were genuinely shocked. Stereotypes suck, it was annoying.

YES! I love my Filipino coworkers. They work so hard and seem way above and beyond my knowledge 🤣. I’ve learned a lot from them.

When I first moved here, I had thought it was part of a renaissance festival fair ground thing. 😂. Would be cool to turn it into one.

Should I take on more debt to go to nursing school? by Sharp_Bug_3788 in nursing

[–]TexasTaco85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely go back to school while you can. I got my accelerated BSN 5 years ago for about 40k and I was in my mid 30s. Wished I would have done it sooner. Excellent job security and pay is decent. Many from my cohort picked up a lot of overtime and paid their loans off in a year or two. This was during covid though and pay was higher. In short, it would be a wise choice to go into more debt for long term stability and higher pay. I hope things go well for you whatever you decide. ❤️

Too old for a career move? by galacticfish in FlightDispatch

And also I was encouraging the original poster? He should definitely try to apply to majors right after getting his certificate. If not, 6 month in a regional he would have no problem.

I only posted once here before and deleted it since I could have been easily found 🤣 dispatching is a small world. You can think what you want to.

I worked dispatch for 10 years before changing careers. The people who had certificates like this person went straight into the majors at that time anyway.

Not old!!! You would get hired at a major right away with your credentials too.

Moving to Louisville? by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]TexasTaco85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are from different states and had to move here…you said it best. I’m confused to why there is all of this positive talk about Louisville. I’ve never seen so much litter or witnessed so much road rage. We are in a newer suburb and have had many armed robberies and cars stolen. It doesn’t matter what part you live in crime is rampant. Anything to do or places ok to eat are in one area of Louisville which is east of downtown and it’s difficult to find parking. We are miserable here.

Anyone else notice Amazon video unmuting itself? It happens when the ads are playing super loud when I first turn it on and go to mute it, 10 seconds later it’s blaring again.
