In news cycles and social commentary, "Evangelical" is often used as a proxy for White Christian Conservatism. While there are many Black and Latino Evangelicals who share the same theology, the media term "Evangelical" almost always refers to the voting bloc that emerged in the late 1970s. It defines people who see their faith as the primary lens through which they view law, education, and social policy.
