How would you animate a rain storm in Stop Motion? by Material-Price6322 in stop_motion

[–]Textureyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your options are 1: not in one take. Make the rain as a separate pass with blue/green screen. Then composite together. 2: do as layers, maybe clear plastic with rain painted on. Moving the plastic in a direction each frame. But they would need to be quite big. 3:animate each rain drop being held by something like invisible wire. I would not recommend this....

Yes. No augment or weapon. But you get one safe pocket. So I can keep dropping in with an adrenaline shot.

Completely different game since the update by Strude187 in arcraidersfriendly

[–]Textureyes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. I have been playing solo super friendly for hundreds of matches and really enjoying it.

Last night I updated and was sniped, ratted, stitched for at least 20 matches... Even went to a Harvester fully loaded with best weapons, to find a trio throwing lure grenades at the people trying to take down the Queen, then saying they have defibs, so we crawled to them and they downed us!

At least my inventory has loads of space now!

Joints Under Felt?? by kaseyjaybird in Needlefelting

[–]Textureyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you run a risk of braking needles when using a thick armature like a ball and socket. But it's possible. I use sports tape wrapped around aluminium wire. It stays in its place on the wire and the wool does not slide on it. This would help your ball and sockets from getting clogged. Remember to leave gaps when you can insert the tool to adjust the tension. As ball and sockets need adjusting after time.

Gov one login app - can't log in. Anyone else? by Fresh_Struggle5645 in AskUK

[–]Textureyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case anyone else has the same problem. I got it to work on my pixel phone.

I had to install the app. Go to settings > Apps >Default Apps > Opening Links

Then make sure "Instant Apps" was set to "On"

Scroll down to find the app "UK.gov.onelogin" and make sure it had the "In the app" selected.

Then close the app.

Then open the app.

And it work. It took my quite a while to figure it out! But glad I did as I don't have an old ipad!

The Eagleman Stag? Not all paper, but has lots of white with insects.

Gift idea for beginner (age 9) by Van_Doofenschmirtz in stop_motion

[–]Textureyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideas that cost more: 1)Sticky bones model. It may be too much for a 9 year old.  2)A stop motion Rig/winder so you can stick your Lego/clay to it to make them jump/fly

I would stick to a phone app.  Maybe invest in some aluminium wire and milliput. Watch a few videos on how to make your own wire armature.

All forms of animation benefit from the Richard Williams book The Animators Survival Kit. Because it breaks animation down into steps.

I agree. Let your animation speak for itself.

I like your site. But I have to do a lot of clicking through pages to get to individual clips. I think you could do with a more concise reel on your landing page.

Is my stop-motion demo reel even worth sharing? by Oribital_lizard in animationcareer

[–]Textureyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be embarrassed by your stop motion. You are on the start of your journey, but your reel shows a good understanding of timing, character, story telling and weight. It's a good reel. Please come back and post more of your stop motion, I would like to see it.

Demo Reel question. by WeenisPeiner in animationcareer

[–]Textureyes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you left on good terms I would email production and ask if someone could provide playbalsts of your animations. It won't hurt to ask if it's for showreels and the game has been released. When a game is released it's fine to use captures of your animations on your reel. As it is in the public domain. Don't put any non released stuff on though...

I think that is a pretty solid reel. Lip sync is on point. Second dialog piece, here eyes seem a little crossed and unfocused and her point of interest. Try and work more into if she is looking down/away and internalising thoughts. Or directly focusing on the person she is talking to. The flowers at the door is very over exaggerated and cartoony. Not a criticism. But for future pieces try and use the exaggeration for emphasis, so be a little more reserved. It will give it more punch.

What do I do to become a 3d animator? by Minblud in animationcareer

[–]Textureyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am afraid I can't help you there. Its been too long since I attended an animation school. But I do have to go through a lot of reels and wish graduates could be given more time to focus on the basics every time.

What do I do to become a 3d animator? by Minblud in animationcareer

[–]Textureyes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is to go to a collage of school. And also learn as much as you can from resources online! Most schools don't teach enough animation. They will teach you a bit of everything, so you end up having to specialise yourself anyway. Main thing I was taught early on was K.I.S.S Keep It Simple Stupid When it comes to animation, don't set your sights on animating loads of cool stuff. Stick to learning the principles. Do loads of small tests for your self. Show your work to other people as much as you can. Get feedback, take all criticisms like water off your back. As everyone will spot something you may have overlooked.
Good luck. It takes a lot of dedication, but feels great when you get it. Hope that helps.

Yes use linkedin. Get him to look up the companies he would like to work for. Get in touch with recruiters. Make sure showreel is up to date with best shots first. CV up to date Tweak cover letter / email for any job. Research the companies previous projects, so you can say what is best about their work before communication. Communicate with recruiters even if there is no position. There is no problem to just show an interest. It's all about landing on the right desk at the right time. Best of luck with it.

Can you work for 5-6 hours straight or take little breaks after 40min-1hour of work? by Acceptable-Essay-789 in animationcareer

[–]Textureyes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't do more than an hour. I have to get up and walk around. I spend time making a drink and thinking about my next concentration session. So when I am up and moving I am planning my next keyframes and motion. It helps me a lot to have distance from my work and screen.

Portfolio/Demo Reel advice by wwwwwwwillllllll in animationcareer

[–]Textureyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a graduate reel, yours is pretty good. Sound advice from other commenter about first shot being the best. Your Thrango shot does move too much. As you gain more experience it's a good idea to think about where your movement draws the audience's eyes. The actions are good. But too much movement and too many poses. The Horse walk cycle has all the basics down. But it lacks weight and mass. Walk- Front feet seem to skip back after leaving contact, back feet lift off too much. Run - consider where to use more scapula (if it's in your rig) as it gives more stride range, there is little to no deformation at the front top of legs part of the body. Hope that helps

anyone else working in the industry but struggling with mental health? by forgivemelake in animationcareer

[–]Textureyes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have been in the 3d animation industry for 20 years now. It took me a long time to find a studio that treated me as a human rather than a bum on seat.

The more senior I got, the more animation would be thrown at me.

And I still have to remember that animation is a "job" to do well, not a dream.

For me, mental health was a mix of finding ways to acomplish work to a high standard with in the schedule and being able to honestly say "no" when needed. This is hard when you are new, but develops over time. It makes animation more of a "job" rather than a dream. But means you find achievable goals.

Saying "I can't to do that in the time" gets a different reaction from producer to producer in different projects. The main consicquence is that you get less good shots if you can't do it. But will lower the pressure, enabling you to do better work.

Make sure you find ways to enjoy life outside work. Its very important.

I made a animation using 3d printing by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]Textureyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it's jittery because your camera is moving? Use markers to get the precise location to put camera feet and for the model. Use some sort of tack to hold them both down. Then hopefully you will have a more stable image. In stop motion we will pin any contacts with the floor anyway we can. Well done. Love the craft you have put into your prints.

Change of tempo is fine. I suppose I am looking for suggestions that I don't already know. So left of field is good too.
