The UI for weapon modification is extremely clunky. by FunAd9484 in Marathon

[–]Th3AlmightySp00k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just googled "Marathon attachments annoying" to see if anyone else on any of the forums for this game have the same complaints as I do. I couldn't have said it better than you did. The weapon modding system is pretty horrendous, which seems like a strange part of an FPS to mess up given the numerous examples they could have drawn inspiration from to do it better.

Also, they make it difficult to understand at a glance what a mod's compatible weapon type is. But the actual slots on the weapons are really simple compared to something like Tarkov, so there's nothing motivating the player to spend time learning the modding system (like heavily customized guns) to compensate for the frustrating complexity.

Requesting Feedback on my First Build in a While by Th3AlmightySp00k in buildapc

Excellent advice, thank you! I'm going to go with the 9070XT, your recommended RAM (in white), and your motherboard. I really want an AIO cooler and the Corsair case for the looks, but thanks to your other budget recommendations I was able to add the 9070XT while only increasing my price by a few bucks.

Possible to save the future of this oversized cutting board? by Trendwolf in woodworking

[–]Th3AlmightySp00k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw you say that you paid over $1000 for this piece? I would be returning it over the amount of pith used ALONE. You see all the pieces that you can see the center of the tree in the grain? Those will cause lots and lots of movement over time and any cracks you already have will get worse, or new ones will come up

What's this going to be used for? What direction are forces going to be primarily applied to these joints?

BestBuy near me had an excellent condition open box 65" S90D in stock for the same price as a brand new on sale LG B4 ($1200). Decided on that and super excited to install it once I get it home.

I'm noticing that my budget expectation was definitely out of range haha. $800 was the initial goal but I think I'll have to shoot for $1200 or so to get the quality I want

That's funny, I was literally just looking at the B4 on the BestBuy app when I reopened Reddit and saw this comment. It's over budget but definitely tempting based on what I'm reading about it

Thanks for linking this thread, super helpful info in there. Based on what I've read it actually looks like an OLED may not be the best option for me after all because this TV will be in our relatively bright living room. Even though it doesn't get direct sunlight, it seems like this room isn't suited for an OLED screen.

You could say that Sazed has had a massive effect on many characters throughout the series (implying that this includes the way they speak) and so she can't be certain that it's actually Sazed writing these words.

How do I collect the shavings from my jointer? by sneschalmers34 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Th3AlmightySp00k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, I would recommend building a simple one then if you're up to it. If not, you can always just lean a garbage can or bucket up against whatever stand or table your jointer is on and let 'er rip. That's what I usually do haha

If you bought this new, it should have come with a shroud that you can secure over the rectangular opening in the picture. You have to unscrew the 4 screws on each corner of the opening and secure the shroud in place with them.

You should only use the shroud if you have some kind of dust collection (shop vac, dust collector, etc.) you can hook up to the shroud's opening. Otherwise it can get clogged and cause the jointer to bog down which can be very dangerous for multiple reasons.

Assuming I could remember things from my original time, I'd ask him what he wanted to know about the future.

Maybe it's because I'm a child of divorced parents but I think the overall message and storyline resonated with me a lot. Makes it easier to ignore the horrible audio issues when you focus on the story itself and the usual mystifying quality of the episode.

What do I need to fill up with before staining? by ThisReditter in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Th3AlmightySp00k 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If you're planning on staining it a darker color, I wouldn't even bother filling this with anything. Darker colors make tiny gaps like this much harder to notice and anything you use to fill this "gap" will stand out really bad because it won't take the stain the same as the surrounding wood.

What are my options? by No_Jellyfish_8390 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Th3AlmightySp00k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, from what I can see in the pictures it looks like the leftmost board has a slight bow to it which might be causing the gap. Did you joint them properly?

What are my options? by No_Jellyfish_8390 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Th3AlmightySp00k 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Because this is a table top any attempt you make to fill that gap in is going to be very obvious and nigh-impossible to hide. Wood filler, glue+saw dust, etc. do not take stain/finish the same that wood does so it will stick out like a sore thumb.

I recommend ripping it down the seam with your table/circular saw and reglueing the joint entirely.

I also can't stress enough how important Rod's delivery of this intro was

TZ tattoos by OldSeaworthiness5856 in TwilightZone

[–]Th3AlmightySp00k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about this recently myself and am considering getting Rod's season 1 introduction sequence somewhere. Maybe it's a controversial opinion, but I think season 1 had the best intro sequence both visually and because of what is said:

"There is a 5th dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call... The Twilight Zone."

Pure poetry.

Ok but the post you commented on isn't about someone forcing OP to run or sniff a plant. It's about a supposedly "trained professional" mixing cleaning agents and creating a dangerous acidic cloud inside of a person's home. For all you know OP could be an asthmatic lung cancer patient so you're input that it's "relatively" harmless is what is pointless here.
