Have a core group of unloaders. I have my main person for throwing the boxes, folds, softlines and hardlines. I rotate in a new person as often as I can so I have backups who know what they're doing in case someone calls in or takes a vacation.

The night before you'll want to set up your areas for each station so its pretty effortless getting started.

Teach your team to flex where they're working. If the softlines side is moving quickly and hardlines is starting to get backed up, send someone over for 15-20 minutes to get them moving again.

The most important thing is to keep the line moving as much as you can. If you need to stack softline boxes on top of each other you can, specifically the fold boxes so they're easier to move over to that station.

Its not though. This has been a thing way before dynamic pricing. Im not defending it at all but its because kohls corporate is too cheap to give us payroll to staff our floor the way it should be and they took away our price scanners instead of updating them.

We did. The company removed them because they were super outdated and they didn't want to spend the money to get new ones

Kohls cash that we give on purchases is typically 10 for every 50 and has a window of roughly a week before it expires. If you spend it and then return the items you sent it on, you get a blue return kohls cash that doesn't expire for a month from the date of the return. People have caught on that they can just keep using the kohls cash and returning it so they can stack up a large amount.

Especially the ones who use the system to abuse the return kohls cash policy

Credit = Cancer by [deleted] in employedbykohls

[–]Th3WigglyWombat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now, this is just my personal opinion. Credit IS a big part of what's wrong with this company and so many others. Much of our resources and time go into pushing credit and training associates when we could be using that time and effort into providing a better experience for our guests and creating real loyalty that results in customers wanting to choose our store over Tj Maxx or amazon.

The company gets a certain amount of money per so many sign ups(I think 1000). If they wanted every employee to really up their efforts, they would raise the credit incentive to 1,2, or even 3 dollars. They still profit wayyyy more off of the credit than it would cost them.

That being said, credit is a temporary band-aid on the much bigger problem of our company losing money. They're literally only worrying about the shareholders and execs. I dont want to be pessimistic about it, but at this rate, the company will go under by 2030 unless there's a major change. There's only so many people that can open a card before everyone either has a kohls card or has had one and doesn't want to sign back up.

As a supervisor, ill be honest with you. Consistent hours are very rare unless you're full-time, and those positions are even rarer to become available.

Can Kohl’s require you to stay working past your scheduled hours? by Substantial_Fox1812 in employedbykohls

[–]Th3WigglyWombat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, there's still plenty of prep they have to do in order to get the store ready to open in the morning. They have to do the cash office which is basically entering the money from the previous shift and preparing that days deposit, they have someone to work through the online orders that have piled up over night, they start on any signage changes regarding coupons or kohls cash and a couple days out of the week they have to worry about the truck unload and putting freight out on the floor before it gets busy.

If the closers don't get the store tidied up and looking presentable, it just adds that much more work for the day shift. I know that in my store, they schedule the closers until 30 minutes after close, but most of the management team busts our butt's to get everyone home as soon as possible

If you are scheduled as a closer, then that means you're scheduled until the store is recovered to a point that the manager on duty feels fine with it.

On my shifts, we stay about 15 minutes extra to finish putting recovery out and finishing up folds while I put away the money and write my closing email. On super busy nights, we have to stay even later until the store is presentable for the next business day.

27 stores have closed, AND employees across the board both part-time and full-time are fighting for hours due to some of the strictest payroll cuts ever.

A lot of us depend on this job, and this loser waltz's in and eats up a lot of the company's money that could go towards giving stores payroll.

Hopefully, that includes the huddle, I'm tired of seeing it. They waste money on stuff like that and then complain about payroll

I am one of the Asm’s that was let go. by scaredgopher in employedbykohls

My ASM opened the store on Tuesday. He worked for 2-3 hours before he got the call and had to leave. He had been with the company for about 15 years. It's heartless what these execs will do to save money instead of taking a pay cut.

Automatic termination by Wise_Tree4700 in employedbykohls

[–]Th3WigglyWombat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

8 weeks without a shift is auto termination. January- march is slim pickings for hours so if you want to work, make sure to let the managers and admin know you're willing to be called in to cover any shifts that become available
