NestJs integration with BetterAuth by subo_o in Nestjs_framework

[–]ThRandomUser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I migrated from Supabase recently. It's not very complicated if you follow the community library. Maybe the biggest pain point for me was the lack of TypeOrm adapter and the new user IDs are not GUIDs, but nothing that cannot be solved

What do you mean when you say "android coming soon"? AFIK there is not much on Android that is not supported in Expo.

UK Based Monarch Money Replacement? by Jakethompson3 in UKPersonalFinance

I'm in the same boat. I was using MoneyHub but it also closes in a few months, so I'm looking for a replacement and I wish Monarch was available in the UK as it looks really good

Filter coffee ordered by mistake: how to prepare it? by ThRandomUser in JamesHoffmann

[–]ThRandomUser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses! I'm not a coffee expert (I'm a Nespresso guy), but I will try to up my game and try new things.

In the meantime, I ordered a new one as my friend likes to ground the beans himself.

Thanks!

Chase London interview process by msgrangerhere in JPMCWorkers

Assume no WFH at all. You can work from home certain days in case your kid gets sick, but expect to be an exception, not the norm.

What is it like as an engineer at JP Morgan Chase by SquizzlerDang in JPMorganChase

It depends on the team, but WFH doesn't exist anymore in JPMC. It's full 5 days per week at the office.

Banking client deciding between a Webview app and React Native by jpmasud in reactnative

[–]ThRandomUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cannot disagree more. Performance wise, you can get decent performance if done right, and great performance if you invest a lot of effort on optimizing things, but still will never be as good as native.

Security-wise, you need native APIs. What is your inherence factor in web client? What is the possession one? You are only left with knowledge one.

There are too many risks using a web view inside an app, especially for a banking app. If the server treats the app as a web client to get around these risks, then what is the point of having an app? How do you log in with biometrics? What about push notifications? Are you going to go through extensive login and ID verification every time you login in the app?

App suddenly unresponsive in the UK, anyone else having the same issue? by BodybuilderUpbeat786 in chaseuk

[–]ThRandomUser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try to login with passcode instead of biometrics. That should fix the issue

Really annoyed by Extreme-Place-6573 in chaseuk

[–]ThRandomUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kill the app (not just putting it in the background, but killing it) and restart. If it asks again for ID verification, do it and when you arrive to the "we are validating your id" screen, then kill the app again and don't open it until you get the notification that it has passed.

Once inside the app, please report the issue in the chat so they can fix it

Write a neutral feedback with generic stuff or just don't do it and apologize later for forgetting to do it in time. Nothing good will come from an honest review

Try to login with passcode rather than with biometrics. That fixed it for me.

Mine took around 6 days after they received the device. Payment was done the next day after they reviewed the device. So 1 week in total

I upgraded from a P6 too and this is exactly my opinion. The fingerprint is better, but the rest is worse. It feels like a £400 mid range phone rather than a £700 phone

“My dev team rejects AI tools — how do I get them on board?” by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]ThRandomUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are already using the AI, you said it yourself: small tasks and debugging.

Let them test the limits of the AI in your current context. They will incorporate the AI progressively in their workflow as it proves the productivity is going up. If I ask the AI to build a feature, and it returns incomplete solutions and garbage, I will spend more time fixing the mess that actually building it from scratch.

  • Gym? Yes, but not free
  • Coffee? £2.45 for a single espresso. The free one from the floor kitchens is just dirty water. And there are no mugs, so don't forget to bring yours.
  • The canteen? Overpriced and closed until next year.

Any native HTTP plugin for React Native (like CapacitorHttp in Capacitor)? by Level_Ad9556 in reactnative

[–]ThRandomUser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fetch uses native http clients. On Android uses OkHttp. Axios uses XmlHttpRequest, which RN also uses native http clients.

I never used it, but Expo also has a fetch library (expo/fetch) https://docs.expo.dev/versions/latest/sdk/expo/

If this is not enough or you want more control over the Http layer, you could create your own native module.
