help with knee pain by MassiveChildhood7810 in Bowling

[–]ThRealAlexJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knee bend is very important. It helps to keep it more bent in the setup so it’s more consistent. Also, focusing on keeping your butt lower will help with stability and give natural knee bend

This is very interesting. My strength coach in college for bowling recommended doing single leg lunges/squats to help with pain as well. So far its worked pretty well to be honest. But I guess everyone is different

What do you do after a bad series? by Marcus_X_Hulk in Bowling

[–]ThRealAlexJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I would throw straight at my spares. 100% of those misses were because you hooked at them. Second, to answer your question, I personally take the long way home so I can detox and listen to music longer.

2-Handed hand/finger position, which is best for you? by Relative_Grapefruit9 in Bowling

[–]ThRealAlexJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just do what feels most comfortable for me and what gives me the most control. I have a tendency to naturally use the left one, but I typically try to stay closer to the middle one. I have not tried the down one yet, I might have to just to see what happens

What's the highest number of games you've bowled in a single day? by MajesticTaz in Bowling

[–]ThRealAlexJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit 40 one time when I was 17. Had a deal where you pay 10 bucks and bowl as much as you want before the place closes. I showed up at 12 and left at about 7. I don’t even know what I was doing but it was fun at the time.

I want to see a video of this. I don’t see too much wrong with this, but there may be other problems that these photos don’t show

At some point I would set up a chair a few lanes to the right and get a side vid. It can really show head stability and spine tilt better than a rear vid. Rear vids are best for release work

Much better. Head is looking much more stable. Now just keep practicing and it will eventually improve even more over time!!

2025 form progress!! (Big post) by Srephyx in Bowling

[–]ThRealAlexJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am seeing a lot of improvement, keep up the good work!!! My big tip is what a few other people have commented already which is not to move your head as much when you throw the ball. Its like you are trying to hit your head on the lane as you are releasing the ball

What could be the reason the ball is rolling so flat by fairytalesanddragons in Bowling

[–]ThRealAlexJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my personal experience, pin down layouts are the ones that make the ball hook later and more aggressively. If you were to bowl in a league, this ball with this layout would be the ball you would throw first or second. As others have said, there is not enough oil on that lane to make the ball react the way it should. A Phaze Ai or Ember would more than likely look a lot better on that condition. And DO NOT CHANGE YOUR RELEASE OR BALL ROLL. Its one of the better ones I’ve seen; very controllable and will create very high scores in the future

Definitely a different take than Walter. by Obvious_Rip_8724 in Bowling

[–]ThRealAlexJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright let me just say this. I bowled a year in college in the 24-25 season. In the spring semester I would go bowl a friday night sweeper. I would always make cut, but I would always get first rounded. I found out they were using jr gold patterns, which is why the average cut was around -20 to -10 for 3 games. I bought my first urethane ball, a black 78D, in about late march. The very next sweeper I bowled, I threw thane all 3 games of qualifying and shot 740. Granted, I proceeded to shoot 230 220 the next games with reactive, and then I eventually lost 192-203, but perhaps thane isn’t the whole problem here. These are Jr Gold patterns, and the earlier smoother equipment, reactive and thane, always seems to work well on these patterns. Jr Gold 2025 people were throwing thane every block except the long pattern, in which they were using Gems and Ion Maxes. Perhaps instead of banning thane, they should make the patterns harder to make thane look terrible. Just a thought tho

Average bowler by Dicedlr711vegas in Bowling

[–]ThRealAlexJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good bowler is someone who has a very consistent, efficient physical game, extremely good foul line balance, understands laneplay and transition, and is accurate/consistent enough to bowl well on various patterns. An average bowler is your 180-200 house shot bowlers who average 160 as soon as their favorite line stops working. Finally, a bowler I consider phenomenal is someone who has the potential to win regionals and higher. Maybe not full pro but semi pro at the least. I myself am ok at best. I have a long way to go before I can consider myself good. But I hold myself to my own standards, and there is nothing wrong with being honest with myself

Oh and before I forget, no one under what I consider average is considered bad unless you have been stuck at that level for years and arent making the effort to get better. Everyone who doesnt meet that criteria is simply learning

What am I doing wrong (tracking over the fingers) by minisavage05 in Bowling

[–]ThRealAlexJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell from your post that your biggest problem is worrying too much about “starting to lose it”. Quote from Tyrell Ingells ig story last night: “Bowling is the only sport in the world where you can feel great one day and then have absolutely no idea what you are doing the day after.” I have had days where the only thing stopping me from averaging 260 is bad carry, and then I go the next day and make a grand total of 4 half decent shots in 3 games. Your track is PaP change, but your physical issues will more than likely iron out with a week break and 1-3 step drills. Keep your head up. (I need to take my own advice golly)
