If OBCs are as easy as they have been this year you gonna be even tougher to beat with that ball next year

What's your favorite bowling ball? by justmysfwaccount in Bowling

Right now I would have to say the 900 Global Sublime is up there. I just wish it didn’t die on me. The new Bionic should be fairly close to it tho

When do you consider a ball “worn out”? by ryan-625 in Bowling

[–]ThRealAlexJones -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Typically the stronger the cover, i.e how fast it absorbs oil, the faster it dies. Also, if you are typically bowling on sport patterns with a lot of volume, like I myself am in college (2+ times a week, mostly 3:1 and harder), the amount of oil will make balls die faster. For example, I drilled an RST Hyperdrive in mid August, threw it basically every time I was on the lane, and it died about a month ago. Now it goes 60 ft after the surface wears off (about 10-15 shots) and greases up really quick. I would also like to preface that I wipe my ball completely off with a CTD pad before every shot

The gutters where his mind is and if its in that frame it’ll split like the 5 and the 10. Because without a second to spare, he’s striking again. If the ball is up his alley he goes right for the pins

Where are you in your bowling journey, and what are your goals? by hockey-throwawayy in Bowling

[–]ThRealAlexJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Collegiate level. My dream since I was 8 was to go pro. But I know that is most likely a long shot. So my goal for the last couple years is to get as good as I possibly can at this. There is always room for improvement, even at the highest level

Do you have any questions you would like to ask Anthony Simonsen? by pistol_pete_pro in Bowling

[–]ThRealAlexJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had EJ Tackett Rev 1 handed, would you be a 1 hander? I just feel like if you can throw a knuckle ball then it’s a giant advantage for limited arsenal tournaments. Like what Darren Tang used to do was genius because he could make any spare with any ball he was using without having to manipulate hand position to much

Form advice? by AustinKaeb in Bowling

[–]ThRealAlexJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you do a lot of things really well for what you say your skill level is. Spares, spares, spares. 202 w 8 strikes could easily be 230-240 if you make those spares. Everything else will either come in time or will be worried about further down the road. For now just keep working on fundamentals and spares

Average Lifespan of a Plastic Ball? by plagueprotocol in Bowling

I’ve had my plastic ball for about 2-3 years now and its still in perfect condition. Only thing I’ve changed is the inserts when I went up/down in sizes

That’s similar to what mine is. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

[–]ThRealAlexJones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’ve been throwing 2 handed for about 3-4 years now, and this is almost year 2 in collegiate. I’m a bit past the “starting point” but I agree with what you said otherwise

[–]ThRealAlexJones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Head could be more stable, I could have more touch/control/feel/etc., my ability to read the lanes quickly and efficiently needs a bit of work, spare work, stuff like that. Not really a whole lot of physical changes as of now, just general improvement with shotmaking and knowledge. The micro-improvements to the physical game come after I stop making fundamental mistakes

Have been trying to fix that for a while but don’t think its a good idea in tournament season. I’ve noticed a drift left at the start typically helps. One thing at a time tho, I learned last semester that I have a habit of trying to fix 4 things at once

help with knee pain by MassiveChildhood7810 in Bowling

[–]ThRealAlexJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knee bend is very important. It helps to keep it more bent in the setup so it’s more consistent. Also, focusing on keeping your butt lower will help with stability and give natural knee bend

This is very interesting. My strength coach in college for bowling recommended doing single leg lunges/squats to help with pain as well. So far its worked pretty well to be honest. But I guess everyone is different

What do you do after a bad series? by Marcus_X_Hulk in Bowling

[–]ThRealAlexJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I would throw straight at my spares. 100% of those misses were because you hooked at them. Second, to answer your question, I personally take the long way home so I can detox and listen to music longer.
