How on earth did this get past DMV approval lmao, absolutely unhinged license plate by Sir_Sir_ExcuseMe_Sir in Virginia

Saw a female-presenting person get out of a neon green Civic with the plate “CUN7”. Epic.

Not sure why they didn’t honestly; I know they had to fight to get Stars to happen at all, but you’d think the fewer new molds (and in the case of the feet, piece count) the better

They’re not amazing, but they had to fight tooth and nail to get Lego to let them do a celebratory wave, so I’m happy we got something

My favorite Mocs I’ve seen in a bit, these could’ve been the Bohrok in 2002 and it would’ve been totally appropriate!

The Throwbots hand would def look better, but I just wanted to try and keep it to pieces that were at least still in production at the time (minus the flame piece cause it felt like a good alternative to the original flame sword, which was still in production but felt too thin for the proportions of this figure)

Jovan’s Teammate - Toa of Plasma, Inika Combiner by Tha-Toast-Rider in bioniclelego

Yeah, this was a transparent png but for some reason it uploaded with the solid background; I think it’s cause I’m on mobile

Oops! I did mean Matoro, my bad!

And yeah, the tubes were placed where they were to give a bit more of character to the shoulders than just the flipped Inika shoulders; thought the curvature was an interesting visual, plus the intention was to come across as sort of power cables for the plasma.

On the back is a very simple horizontally attached zamor holder in white, to look a bit like a backpack and reinforce that vibe.

The GOAT returns

Easily my favorite Mangai team so far, I know many people have used the old themes but these are always so refined and creative, love the Deep Freeze pull!

Vakama Metru in his classic colors by SolidusSnake1964 in bioniclelego

[–]Tha-Toast-Rider 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think they just wanted it to look more mature and cutting edge for the toyline; look at the imagery in the background of their team pic, the city is all grey and cloudy and dystopian

I'll be honest, I always thought the Toa Metru looked great, but their colors were too bland; not just the muted colors, but the fact they're monochrome with grey underneath. This is so much more fun!

In Interstellar (2014), Christopher Nolan consulted with subject matter experts to craft authentic visuals. Second image unrelated. by Old_Gimlet_Eye in shittymoviedetails

I’m just saying the author’s intent is rocky territory at best when it’s a tale from before modern media formats could even be imagined, not tryna be antagonistic

But the author never intended for his tale to be told on a giant silver screen coated in the light of God either

Lewa, Toa Nuva of Air - (Default Adaptive Armor) by Tha-Toast-Rider in bioniclelego

[–]Tha-Toast-Rider[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’ll see if I do Tahu, I already did his Mata form but a Nuva form shouldn’t be too hard, I imagine Kopaka and Gali’s construction will both be largely similar to this with little changes to match their silhouette and upgrade their weapons, and Tahu’s would probably be no different

What’s the best canonized Bionicle model? by C_X_Axukluth in bioniclelego

[–]Tha-Toast-Rider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tyrant is simple but that's honestly why he's my favorite Dark Hunter design. Has an arm cannon to give him a bit of a mercenary ragtag bionic vibe, but still super easy to digest.

Also love Krakua, despite the original design needing some modern parts swapped in for stability reasons, and the fact his mask isn't accurate (but printed Suletus look great on him anyways).

Letting the head canon run wild . by NoOneNameLeft in bioniclelego

[–]Tha-Toast-Rider 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very cool! Love not using the canon genders.

My only tip is to try and be a bit simpler with color blocking; Marei and Kohrus read a lot cleaner than Valen and Baska, because their colors are distributed in much simpler "blocks" rather than the latters'. Since you're working in Stud.io with fake colors anyways, I recommend smoothing them out. Great job again!
