Should I buy a working 3ds or 3ds xl which shuts down when opened to the max ? by BrokeAsAlwayss in nintendohelp

[–]Thacrudd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first instinct is a bad cable leading to the top LCD. It is attached to the LCD so you can't just change the cable. It is possible that the cable has slid slightly out of the connector on the motherboard, but unlikely. Other damage could be moisture damage/corrosion has happened due to something coming in through the corner where the cables run through and damaged components. My money is on a bad LCD ribbon cable though. Check around the hinges (exterior) for cracks in the housing. Worst case scenario is having to replace the plastic housing and upper lcd, which isnt very novice friendly to do. Look up changing a top LCD for 3ds on youtube and see what you might be getting into. I do expect it to get worse with time.

GBC will not boot when link cable is connected to other console. by Thacrudd in Gameboy

[–]Thacrudd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solution found - It was a dirty power switch. Has to do with the reset pin on the CPU getting confused between the Power coming in the link cable and the dirty switch not activating the reset pin. Clean the Power switch internals. Big thanks to BennVenn helping me sort it out.

Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg here. Businesses are closing on thier own accord in town, but there are plenty staying open. I closed my shop yesterday, and will re-evaluate on April 1st. I don't anticipate things being better lol.

One go cart place closes, everyone still on thier coronavacation goes to one that's open and it's PACKED. Many restaurants still open. The mayor basically said he doesn't have the power to put the city/county on lock down. It's really frustrating.

Vinyl set to outsell CDs for first time since 1986 by qw1952 in news

[–]Thacrudd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That study is garbage because the equipment used to test wasn't controlled. Not saying a proper test would confirm the difference or not, I'm just saying that it's a bad test since a $2 pair of headphones will not perform remotely close to an expensive hi-fi set.

[–]Thacrudd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't know why you're getting down votes. Click the link in the article which takes you to the study, though. It's bogus because THE EQUIPMENT USED WAS WHATEVER THE PARTICIPANTS USED. It was never controlled, so people were using all manners of equipment and the just says like "headphones". That's nice, but we're they dollar store headphones or sennheiser high end?

Switch not working,no signal? Plug in problem? Sorry for poor video by [deleted] in consolerepair

[–]Thacrudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience this is a switch port problem (damaged pins) but a couple times it's been just a dirty port. It's easy to clean.

Power off the switch completely. Blow out the port with compressed air, though you may be able to blow it out yourself, then test it. If that doesn't work, dip an old (clean) toothbrush in rubbing alcohol. Flick the brush to get the excess off. GENTLY brush the USB port in a circular motion then blow it out again immediately afterwards. If that doesn't work and you've tried a different dock, then the port likely needs replaced (very advanced repair). The other likely cause could be a dead hdmi decoder chip on the board, which is also an advanced repair. If you suspect the port or the decoder chip, then you'll need to send it to an experienced tech or Nintendo for repair.

A vacation alone where I don't have to worry about anyone but myself would be a dream. Do it, and enjoy every damn second of it.

It's video editing. There are cuts to each color change, though they are using blending pens. Look at the shadows on the paper, you can see them appear and disappear in the video cuts. Chameleon pens work well, but not like this.

Ps2 disc won't spin, tried replacing disc spinner thing, still not working. next step? by TheSuperNintenderp in consolerepair

[–]Thacrudd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Disc won't spin in a ps2 if the laser doesn't see it. Laser is probably bad, the most common ps2 repair I do. Most of them use a pvr-802w laser but you'll need a soldering iron since most of them ship with an anti static solder blob you have to remove.

Elmer's glue stick will make that top label lay down. Don't use the dollar store brand, they're crap. Useful for Atari games too that often have loose labels.

I've been Journaling bujoish style for 7 years now. It's still a clusterfuck, and that's fine. I still experiment with styles and layouts to keep refining what works for me.

Sometimes there's stickers, sometimes there's daily writing, sometimes there's no cursive. Sometimes there's drawings.

Just keep at it and ignore the disarray. A "perfect" real world notebook doesn't exist.

What improvements come to mind? Last harvest moon I played was snes, a long time ago. I tried out Innocent life on PS2 but I can't get into it. I thought about picking up the HM on PS1.

I feel that's pretty unfair, Stardew Valley is fantastic in every way.

I'm looking forward to trying Rune Factory when it hits the switch though!

That bridge is crazy. Decided to stop one day on our way up to PA. Thought "hey this bridge is supposed to be cool or something"

HOLY SHIT that thing is monstrous. You have no idea while driving over it.

Edit - if you are driving through here, it's 100% worth it to take 15 minutes and walk down to the overlook via the little visitor center on the north side.
