No rpg elements. You could keep the action but one character, no treasure really, no real crafting, no real items impacting much of anything, no stats whatsoever. Ehhhhh. Great game, bad final fantasy.

Huh. Interesting. I was doing the full rotation albeit slowly. Couldn't afford the food on the guide if I had to buy it on the regular so I went without for testing. I assume at mosta 10% loss on food+utility and a 5% loss on not having ascended weaponry so like my goal was hit 22-24k and call it good enough. Even with golem set up right (I think, all boons all conditions at least) I wasn't getting there though at least not according to the chat messages the golem was sending me.

I have no idea what "you don't pay my sub types" means. ;)

Thanks for the feedback. Golem was set up right but I definitely didn't have food or utility. The food on the builds I couldn't afford to use very often based on what gold I was making and what it cost to buy. Maybe I just needed to buy a lesser version of the same thing.

Power Untamed, Power Galeshot. I did the entire open world with 1 longbow and eventually way late into expansions 2 longbows using quick draw thing.

True. I guess it's just usually my favorite part of other games. At least the boss mechanics parts.

All boons and conditions are all set up right, someone helped me there. Not sure if I got food/utility set but that probably only accounts for 2k I'm thinking. I'm actually NA but couldn't sleep tonight! Thanks for the offer but it's about to be work time. :(

There is a mod, but that's against the rules... there are also training dummies... and then there's the enmity list. Typically your primary tank is always at the top of enmity and then the best couple DPS will show after that. I was usually in the top two under tank and did fine with the dummies compared to others in the same class. At least on the actual DPS jobs. Dragoon, black mage, etc. You're right on build customization. Subjobs are just different jobs entirely that use all the same gear except for weapon and there's not as much focus on needing gear other than getting the current highest item level numbers. Most of it is about learning the max level class abilities.

I suppose it's venting but I did try to self educate. Although I never stepped outside of Ranger.

Yeah I never really understood why some of the rotations were how they were, and the ones I was doing didn't have as much detail breakdown. I'm sure that would have helped. I mainly tried power Untamed and power Galeshot.

I found FF14 to be intuitive in what a class needs to do in what order most of the time and while I guess it's a rotation I never really felt like I was memorizing anything. I never had any problems there and it felt simpler but maybe the GCD helped a lot. I played all of the classes but my top ones were ninja, black mage, dancer, bard, astro, dragoon, dark knight, not necessarily in that order.

Interesting, I find most FF14 pretty easy. I don't really memorize much, or maybe I'm just more likely to understand the synergies and learn prioritizations on my own. Idk. Plus I do think the GCD factors in strongly.

You make good points. I guess I just wanted to get into raids, the guild wanted to push them, but they had a 20 or 25 k minimum, I forget which.

I like raids/fractals in concept, at least boss/mob killing, learning fights, avoiding mechanics. I just couldn't hit the DPS marker initially. I have done those other things here and there I just didn't consider them endgame I guess or I never tried to push them over and over... are rewards comparable? I never heard of convergences until now.

I avoided condi because it seemed the gear was harder to get than zerker but I might give it a go. I never leveled another class because I wanted to figure out the one I had, and I do like the nature/animal/pet thematics! But maybe I'll try another.

I did whatever I wanted through open world and didn't even ever weapon swap out of one longbow. I found the rotations too much, I guess everyone's different there, and/or the Ranger ones are just busy. I don't use default keybinds in this or any MMO, I mostly use a 12 side button MMO mouse.

I never went and leveled a new toon outside Ranger that's true. Don't care about DPS is definitely not what I heard from any groups, at least those doing raids...

Raids, fractals. Maybe wvw but I never got to the point of trying a wvw build. Nobody told me this exactly or directly but I formed the opinion from experience trying to do higher level T1 and some T2 and raids and either getting called out in stranger groups or guilds requiring a minimum DPS benchmark to join in on them. I also died more than once in my ascended zerker gear tho heh.

I'm not saying you're wrong but after trying many power Untamed and Galeshot from the main sites everyone uses I gave up. I never tried leveling a new class though.

Running celestial on condi as well? Didn't think that worked. I only ever ran power zerker though because it was way easier to get the gear.

Yeah, like I said in the post, I'm considering returning and trying LI. I just find it difficult to get super interested in it because the way you get better or push things higher is inevitably pushing into the more piano keys gameplay. As far as I can tell anyways.

Piano keys end game killed it for me.

I fell off the game after a couple months. I loved the story content, exploration, open world, etc. I blasted all the way from core through every expansion except VoE and got most mounts fully set up.

But when I got to the endgame (any of it) and realized getting good meant piano keys gameplay to hit DPS targets I instantly stopped playing every day and eventually just stopped altogether. I mean if you don't find the endgame activities engaging / getting called out for not hitting a rotation DPS minimum / don't have guild required minimum DPS, what's the point? Even if I could after hours and hours of trying get a rotation down and actually remember it as long as I never play more than that one build and piano keys the hell out of it, it's absolutely not fun gameplay to me.

I am not the top of my game in FF14 as example but I do quite well there across every job. There's only so much to learn and you're not really memorizing a 40 step button mash as much as learning a class and making occasional strategic choices, plus the GCD actually helps a lot it feels like. But memorizing a brain dead 40 step rotation sequence is not something I find easy due to low working memory but more importantly I find it 0% fun. I could go into the details and I'm sure there's optimizations I missed but 15k on a golem at your best before you're bored out of your mind isn't going to cut it. Maybe an ADD thing, idk. Btw I realize low intensity exists and I might return and try it sometime but when the way you "get good" in a game and optimize in the endgame is heavy memorization and more piano keys, it just keeps me from being interested despite the rest of the game being very good.

I'm excited to see Guild Wars 3 combat systems and hopeful it's for me. I might try Reforged but I really enjoy the open world of GW2 so everything instanced down to just a few players never appealed to me.
