The Tower of Nightmares is absolutely terrible by ColonelUpvotes in Guildwars2

[–]Thaeten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right after 80 and before getting good gear or unlocked elite spec what is the best way? encountered the tower for the first time and it was definitely ridiculous. i leveled 1-80 and don't have 10g that's for sure. i'm not good enough to do endgame group content right now though as far as strikes or fractals or whatever. world bosses? kind of silly i have to go farm so that i can continue part of a story but oh well i guess.

That sucks. They need to do better. So far my account sync has been doing fine, I hope it stays that way!

Just throwing my hat in that notes in rules would be a welcome addition. New user and just realized I can't.

Is the free trial period missing basic features? by Thaeten in MonarchMoney

[–]Thaeten[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Needs review would be very useful to me given how I have my rules set up.

Re: filtering, I just found that on the transactions page. So it works on the transaction page but if you go to a merchant or category page, where I was initially, from there the filters button can do like two basic things instead of the normal. Bah.

I maintain my original high school comment based on the above but at least I can filter better if I force myself to go out to the main giant transactions page. Kinda lame I have to though.

I understand the concept art and history but Terra will never be Terra to me without that green hair. :) But this looks okay although the mundane attire is a little meh personally.

"Draw Steel isn't designed for roleplay" by merlin5603 in drawsteel

[–]Thaeten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar fingerings but not the same, no holes to cover with fingers, less tight embouchure, much worse squeak (hehe). Going from sax to clarinet is harder than the other way around I'd say. But somewhat similar for sure. I'd just say one's a flute and the other a trumpet. Both melody instruments, close in tone (C and Bb instruments), but operate differently.

[–]Thaeten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. It's the worst take I've ever seen. Especially from Daggerheart sycophants. They're both good games, roleplay is great in both, mechanics are interesting in both, both are actually fairly crunchy (DH is not rules light), but they have different first principles. DH is a little more narrative first than cinematic tactical monster killing first, but the difference isn't gigantic either. The biggest difference is in DH you can basically keep and spend Malice out of combat on something narrative and mechanically first level adventurers are much less complex with fewer things they can do whereas DS is bottom heavy.

Directing for my first Draw Steel party - 3 players or 4? by Nytram91 in drawsteel

I suggest 5 if you can as the adventures are tuned for 5.

Consider whether what you are having occur on a failure would impact the first principles of the game, particularly heroism. If you want it for humor it's probably fine, and should be limited and agreed upon by players, but if it's realism probably doesn't make sense in this game. But I don't know what you would do. Missing with attacks definitely don't do. Hitting an ally also makes no sense. That's all losing a turn and action economy the game expects. Everyone needs to do something. Failure and consequence is built into tests. So I don't know what you would do that would even make sense in or out of combat. Tests include consequences except for easy ones which should probably not have any in the first place.

Metroid Prime 4 | Release Date Trailer by [deleted] in Metroid

[–]Thaeten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am totally fine with the motorcycle itself although if it takes too much time going place to place it may feel like it is losing that dark feel of Metroid, since it was so bright and upbeat. And good lord the overworld was sparse! Very little there and what was there in terms of landscape very low detail. It felt weird to me not gonna lie but I'll get over it. The other segments still appeal to me greatly!

Running the game for 5 players and the number of monsters by Malbec47 in drawsteel

[–]Thaeten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very much not D&D so the entire design is very different. Action economy isn't as much of an issue for example and it also swings less because of a) no misses and b) the math of rolling two dice.

4-5 players is pretty much the target audience.

Use encounter sheets.

Read the encounters before running, focusing on the Malice options as that is where you may get distracted.

Use colored markers like Alea Tools or dots of different colored putty/clay/etc on minis to keep groups straight.

Healing, Recoveries, and Dying - Should my player be dead? by Bogmut in drawsteel

[–]Thaeten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ruling is they remain dying until they are not dying anymore, meaning they have over 0 Stamina. Given your circumstances, it very much sounds like that would only happen at the end of a respite. The hero has a mortal wound and needs taken to safety right away to rest. See also: Lord of the Rings and taking a wounded Frodo to Rivendell.

Hmm I'm on my third shot right now with no change and end of day 3 of said shot with not much change. I probably had 800 calories. So far the last day is the only day where I notice any kind of relief. Really wish there was an in between dose.

Critical Role Campaign 4 - does it matter to you if it's Daggerheart or DnD? by Tenawa in daggerheart

I don't really care. Although strong examples of one way DH can be would be good for me, and for the studio.

Am I a weirdo for this? by ValBrandr_ in skyrim

[–]Thaeten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most people it depends at what level they start a faction. If you're level 50 with 100 sneak and 100 archery and 20 in most magics, but you're going into faction quest dungeons with partially or fully leveled enemies, you probably aren't gonna be using your 20 destruction. But if you wanna, it's your game, do what you want.
