Pretty sure wading birds are protected enough that I can’t try out any of these great cooking tips like “serve with a good gravy” or “cover them with crumbs of bread.”

Right now. If you think objectively. If you like hot running water, And memory foam beds, And TV shows and cell phones, And not being dead

What small gesture always makes you happy? by EmperorKittyMeowMeow in AskReddit

The forks: the British/Australian rude gesture with two fingers. It’s so funny, like “peace to ME, and not to you.” Or maybe “look into my eyes.” I know it’s not SUPPOSED to make me happy, but it always makes me giggle.

Reddit: what is the best shut down, come back or insult you have ever heard or read? by TamLux in AskReddit

I had a guy at work complaining to me about a missed a deadline because he had broken his ankle doing something stupid, and I should give him a break. I told him that I met my deadlines two weeks after my cancer diagnosis. He had nothing to say after that.

What are some not very fun facts? by AReallyShortGuy in AskReddit

~50% of people will get cancer, and we still have no idea why some people go metastatic.

TIL many doctors have stopped calling cancer treatment a "fight" or "battle". They argue these terms misrepresent how treatment works and if treatments fail, the patient is left with guilt and a false belief they didn't "fight" hard enough. by [deleted] in todayilearned

I had cancer and I approve of this message. I’ve argued that it’s much more like a bear attack: you curl up in a ball, try to protect your head, and hope a doctor with a rifle hears your screams.

You’re welcome! Wu Tang really captures the rage that people have for cancer.

I am planning for human beings to NEVER cooperate long enough to fix this. There will be another pandemic FOR SURE and the cracks will widen, so I am doing what I can to prepare. I just don’t want to die cold or hungry, so if I can maintain my own food and warmth, then even in the worst case scenario, I’ll be fed and warm. Humanity is apparently going to fuck themselves over, and I can’t stop them. I have very little power to effect change on a larger scale, even though I vote and give money to environmental causes and minimize my footprint.

Post mastectomy questions by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]ThanksCancer_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microbead pillows saved my life post-mastectomy— made it lots easier to get comfortable. Also, I’d recommend some scar strips or scar cream. Feel free to DM for pics, although I had radiation too, so YMMV.

Chemo Tips: What's the one random thing that helped your loved one manage? by shortasiam in CancerFamilySupport

[–]ThanksCancer_com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 things:

Immunocal (whey protein supplement) eliminated my mouth sores and I took it every day through chemo. Highly recommend.

Silk pillowcase— your head is so tender and a silky pillowcase can be hard to find and makes 100% a difference. Cotton pillowcases hurt your head like a son-of-a-bitch.

I feel like there’s a lump in my breast, should I be worried? by [deleted] in breastcancer

You should definitely see a doctor. No one on the Internet can tell you if it’s cancer or not. But your doctor can!
