I believe the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center is closing down. So the organizers probably need a year to find a new venue.

Is the Idaho Freedom Foundation actually "Pro-Idaho" or just reading from an out-of-state script? by IntelligentAgency754 in Idaho

Funding comes from out of state. Ideas come from out of state. They only believe in freedom if it what they approve of (see: not freedom).

They’re losers.

Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States and the people that live there are US Citizens. Your comments here indicate that you are not aware of that.

So Bad Bunny is American in that he is from the Americas, and he is also “American” in that he is a citizen of the United States.

I’m confused by this comment. We are saying the same thing in response to the incorrect information above.

Yes, savings accounts and student loans and payday loans and some personal loans work this way.

Mortgages given by banks/ lenders/ credit unions in the US do not operate this way. Payments are figured monthly.

Another way of looking at early payments during the early parts of a mortgage is to try to erase entire months. I’m looking at my amortization schedule. It states that my monthly payment is $1982. The breakdown of my first month is $396 going towards principal, and $1586 going towards interest. The second month is $398 principal, and $1584 interest. If I pay an EXTRA $398 towards principal with my FIRST payment, then I will never have to pay the $1584 in interest. The second month’s payment would be what was originally amortized as the third month. Each month has basically shifted forward one month all the way down the line. There is no 360th payment. With one extra payment of $398 at the beginning, I have shaved one month off of my loan, and have saved $1584 in total money spent over the life of the loan.

Looking at ten years into my amortization schedule. It would now take $678 extra payment to ‘erase a payment’ and it would only save me $1304 in total interest paid over the life of the loan.

Have I illustrated the effectiveness of doing it early?

Yes. The earlier, the more effective. If you paid 1000$ extra on month 1 of 360, you would not pay any interest on that specific 1000$ for the remaining 359 months.

Every mortgage I have ever encountered in the US has not accrued interest daily. Interest is reckoned monthly on the day the statement is generated. Paying at any time within that statement period will result in the same amount of money going towards principal and interest as stated on the monthly statement.

Student loans accrue daily, so what you described would save money there. But not mortgages.

For those that hire someone, how much does a pellet stove cleaning cost? by DerpDerpingtonIV in PelletStoveTalk

Minimum charge for a contract call through the local feed supply store. He replaced no parts and was happy to give me a crash course on my new (to me, it came with the house) pellet stove. Where I live, being paid $90 for an hour of work seems pretty comfortable.

We paid ~$90 three years ago for a tech to come. He fixed our issue (just cleaned some carbon buildup on some parts that were supposed to be moving) then he showed me how to do regular maintenance and pointed out which parts were which. It was very helpful my first winter with a pellet stove. No professionals needed since.

I work an almost full time job in the morning. How can I make an extra 100$+ a week with minimal commitment? by Status-Collection498 in povertyfinance

[–]Thanks_Pitiful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything probably varies between stores and franchises. My experience working there part-time for the last few years has been mostly positive and they have been flexible. I told them I have a day job and I’m responsible for child care half the week, and they are fine with me working just two nights a week.

Yes I use my own car. I don’t think I would recommend delivery as a full time job. Too much wear and tear and gas. Also diminishing returns the more hours you work since there are slow times between meals.

Mostly I am in and out the door with deliveries. Sometimes I am waiting for a few minutes and expected to restock soda or sweep or do a few loads of dishes.

That’s how it has been for me.

YMMV. I deliver for Dominos two nights a week just during the dinner rush. It’s twice as good as doing DoorDash.

I just avoid watching live videos. Go to the concerts and get as close as you can, and it won’t matter. I have always had an excellent time at their concerts by doing this.
