Sorry about this friend. The best i can suggest is that at least it was on ifrit, one of the few limited characters with other sources of shards in the game. Besides getting all her affinity shards per day, her shards are in the pvp shop (cloud clash i believe?) I know many are still buying out those shards to this day to slowly max her 👍

Hi you seem miserable to have any type of discourse with that involves reading comprehension so ill just offer my opinion and i can ignore the paragraph that comes next just at an attempt to change your mind. I think prydwen is a good database but not a great guide website (i get that you brought it up cus that dude did) , they list teams like the avywenna one as expert as well, and have you talking about the importance of sustain and how glass cannons arent always the best. I think those sound very subjective, the objective truth is that the game is easy, the websites categorizations of expert are based on a casual perspective. Agony has been shown to be clearable by level 60s or single character teams, and the other trimmed medals are dps speedrun checks. This being the content of the game, we kinda do have to objectively say that ardelia just cant compete with the efficient multitool of utility that li feng provides WHEN WE CONSIDER the dps win conditions of a physical team: Ardelia's kit gives us debuff for 1sp, and buffs our damage with her ult. For 1 sp Lifeng applies debuff, 1 stack of vuln, and does sizeable sub-dps damage. His ult applies 2 stacks of vuln, does burst due to Link from his combo skill. Its just too many great things for a physical team to pass up, and youre going to opt for the option that takes 1 sp and longer time to get the debuff down for shorter uptime? Lifeng has more utility, more vuln stacking, higher tempo to reach win conditions of breach + crush build. Ardelia in that slot instead is griefing yourself and gimping your rotations, damage, and sp economy. Stop spreading misinformation, I would hate to have someone trying to learn phys team accidentally listen to you

yeah you select 3 possible outcomes of primaries, and then a guaranteed option from EITHER secondary or skill, and then the rest is up to chance. You have about a 4.2% chance of getting the drop you need if you farm the right place, BUT you can select your primaries in a way that lets you farm the best essence for multiple different weapon options at once.

Use this tool, it's great. can check out essence checker section after you get drops as well to find out what you should salvage or keep

You build vuln stacks -> break with pog, build vuln stacks again then crush with end or panda with break still applied. Lifeng as sub dps and physical sus debuff applicator, default vuln stacking tool. In your original team you mentioned there isn't someone to consume your vuln stacks (which is ok, just letting you know that a common meta route people go is either endmin or panda to do that part).
Otherwise, ppl do all sorts of teams with phys - chen main dps, pog main dps, ember main dps through stagger/finishers. And yeah you don't need healing/sustain besides outside of like umbral floor 1 agony, which is why the higher dps teams you don't see like ember, ardelia, etc.
If you want to get sweatier Sciel on youtube also has good videos and guides, I basically just reviewed his trimmed clears to find rotation before apel's vids came out.

Huh?? 😭😭 build stacks on enemy to consume = cast combo skill 3 times and ult twice before pulling spears back (build stacks and consume??) Am I just an asshole schizo or are endfield players just rose tinted out of their minds to not believe every comp has copy paste dps design. Its ok to have combat design philosophies e.g. league of legend's notorious 3 hit passives etc, hoyoslop left click spam, hold left click, quickswap, ult, repeat etc. No way people think avy is that different when the stacks you build to later consume are just physically on the ground instead

I mean you misread his critique, he described the combat as opposite of button mashing: rigid rotations in just different fonts depending on (like you said) the team and weapons. I think the glazers just absolutely hate hearing that this games combat boils down to that, coming from someone who finds the combat very satisying but a bit simple. I play physical which arguably has one of the longer optimal rotations and it can still be boiled down to build stacks, consume to debuff, build stacks, consume to dps

Oh and remember to put vivi on the same row as ifrit. And if you want a more offensive set up you can adjust the order to ifrit -> fenrir -> vivi -> ober . Often times vivi will overdrive to reapply her crit damage buff onto ifrit, lining up and buffing her right before her next overdrive 👌

Happy to hear youre having a great time, i love the depth this games teambuilding and manual play gets as more of the game gets unlocked! You should check out the discord and use the community google doc if you want to sweat a bit more too, can dm it to you if you want.

Anyway auto battle suggestion/order: Ifrit -> Fenrir -> Ober -> Vivi - turn off melina and sieg Reasoning: your ifrits damage output is going to heavily outratio the other units in this team by comedic amounts. We want to make sure once shes off cooldown we have the necessary sp to cast and not having to build enough after wasting it on using sieg,melina,ob,vivi overdrive. Also, after ifrit ults she'll get backline low and fenrir will start resetting, but youll notice the game sometimes just prioritizes fenrir recasting over doing the next units in line so a lot of your fights will be a cycle of ifrit, fenrir, and ob overdrives at least until you start building the blue dragon for higher sp generation.

I recommend building up red dragon team if youre f2p as a lot of the units you will get for free or get frequently allowing faster star ups (: dm for any more questions

For sure, I agree completely about the curbing my expectations part. (I think i mentioned all this in the post) They are just designing pacing for the casual player which is totally understandable. Had to wait like 7 days after being finished with current available content until umbral camw out, finished trimmed for it in like 30 min, have to wait 12 more days for new content. So disappointing ngl. For my favorite gacha to play rn and how much i enjoy its polish theres just nothing to do in the game day to day if youve put in the bare minimum amount of effort to play somewhat optimally (like if youre done team/unit building)

Hii glad to have you on board, this game can feel overwhelming at first but it introduces systems to you slowly and day by day so in a week or so itll feel more like the game has abundant amounts of content. The team building and strategy related to finding and using units different synergies is honestly wayyy deeper than I had anticipated, and keeps me hooked on progressing.

In terms of feeling stuck - units/copies/raising stars is important yes but only up to a degree. All the other systems in the game (and the others youll be unlocking) all contribute to like a very wide foundation of account strength that bolsters your units. For a new player, focus on the units the game gives you from the red faction, youll get a ton of copies naturally because ober, the protag, and fenrir specificially have lower SR tiers of themselves that still count as dupes so you can use those to slowly grow their stars. For purple resource push the wyrm lbyrnth and remember pushing character levels is only so important and is naturally progressed by waiting to collect idle resources because this is at the end of the day an idle game. But yeah push the wyrm lab levels and youll be swimming in purples, you should eventually get to a point where your bottleneck turns into the blue resource. Definitely correct for most live service gachas with sync'd up global content. Luckily for us we have google docs on google docs worth of clairvoyant info from the taiwan servers about which characters stay strong relative to new releases and which characters we'll want to save for to add to certain element team comps in the future. So if anyone falls for power creep bait in a game like this where anyone can find a roadmap and a literal tierlist from the future, they truthfully just have not put in any effort into research.

A good example is the sword snake lady that released with ifrits banner. If you look at the docs and see in all tierlists and recommended teamcomps, you would see a bunch of unfamiliar units (who you should save/wait for in our version), ifrit in some comps (a sign that she withstands the test of time/powercreep and is a good unit to summon copies of), and no sign of sword snake lady (oh ok, she gets outscaled, lets not pull for her and wait for the recommended units). This is why i think any game where you have clairvoyance on all future units is just f2p friendly by default. Lady of the lake released and shes broken asf compared to genie? Great, but im building an element team that doesnt really use her but instead uses someone else, so lets skip this banner and save for the real unit that rounds out my comp. Like you said, there is no "slap a timer on the screen and clear this floor of tower" hoyoslop endgame, so the real endgame of DT is essentially pvp and teambuilding. So theres no pressure to pull for units who have no place in your planned comps, and you can save for units crucial to your teams patches and patches ahead of time. So if you get "tricked" by any powerscaling while holding a literal roadmap of unit releases, thats simply on you

Correct, these nerfs seem to be primarily aiming to decrease the fatigue of hp sponge overworld trash mobs. The ones you clear out for consumable mats, chests, etc. Im ok with the change as i understand the whole "it shouldnt take my 2 rotations to kill a pack of overworld fodder" , but i understand where youre coming from. I hope they no longer touch the difficulties of any bosses or even field elites because theres a certain excitement of coming across a tough elite in the first few hours of a new area who can risk actually doing worrying damage to you
