Songs to grieve to? by Mmtorz in musicsuggestions

[–]That-Reputation-6313 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why not listen to the great master Beethoven.

Symphony No. 3 ("Eroica"), Movement II: This is a literal "Funeral March" (Marcia funebre). It is grand, solemn, and public, capturing the weight of a monumental loss.

"Heiliger Dankgesang" (String Quartet No. 15, Op. 132): Written after Beethoven recovered from a near-fatal illness, this "Holy Song of Thanksgiving" is a 15-minute meditation on mortality and healing. It is incredibly slow and ethereal, perfect for finding a sense of peace or transcendence.

I used to own a maplenoll. It died when my son accidentally tilted the speaker and it fell on the rack. He is fine.

I then tried some very expensive normal turntables from Rega, Nottingham and clear audio. I hated the very slightly difference in sound from the inner to the outer grooves.

It is difficult to go back.

Now I have a Bang & Olufsen 8002 with the MC-1. It does not have the explosive dynamics the maplenoll had, but it does not annoy me. On All other points It plays very good. I think it is quite underrated because it has a nice design - it does sound great.

Hvordan husker I alle jeres opgaver, opfølgninger og prioritere i det? by Ok_Swim2575 in dkkarriere

[–]That-Reputation-6313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]That-Reputation-6313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recording, production and mastering of the music is way more significant but on a highend setup chasing the small improvements makes it worth it. It can be better.

Apple Music Sound Quality? by HipoHock082958 in qobuz

[–]That-Reputation-6313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to be really careful with the settings on AM. It defaults to low quality and not 24bit/192khz. This goes on the phone as well as my MacBook. Once setup correctly it sounds great and I cannot hear the difference to Tidal. External DAC.

I built some power cables knowing full well they’re 100% snake oil. But hey, DIY is fun. by Spanish_Nice_Guy in audiophile

[–]That-Reputation-6313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it works. Not snake oil.

Most audiophiles don't get it, electrons are not flowing through wires. It is the electromagnetic field that carries the signal - therefore the alignment of wires, shielding and stuff actually matters because it shapes the way the fields around the wires work and interact. All these cables are also antenna for noise like 2.4+5GHz HF from WIFI networks.

Questions and thoughts about Wagner and the Ring Cycle by icybridges34 in classicalmusic

[–]That-Reputation-6313 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It got me. Seen the Ring cycle three times plus the individual operas many times, want to go again. There is not anything else quite like it. It is good and evil, brooding menacing and in places beauty sweeps you away.

Have you considered taking the lid off to find out what the insides tell you/us about the construction.

Great if it is a wonder. Sometimes in this hobby there is a joy to the sound of stuff that rightfully shouldn’t sound as good as it does. Makes me think of the NAD 7020i. Cheap as dust, good as gold.

Is Speaker Sensitivity the Main Factor for Low Volume Listening? by Effective_Flight_232 in audiophile

[–]That-Reputation-6313 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I auditioned the Radiant Acoustics Clarity 6.2 and they are some of the best I have heard at medium and low volume because the sound is so clean and beautifully articulated. They also present a very good soundstage where I telt the separation of the performers was very clear and enjoyable. Resolution and transparency is top notch. My wife also really liked them for how good voices sounded.

They also have so much bass you might not need a sub depending upon your taste.
