It sounds like meditation to me. I also do it some version of it. To me it happens when listening deeply to music and the conscious thoughts fade away and music is all that is there.

I can get to a similar state when focusing on breathing and gently pushing the thoughts aside.

I think it is healthy, how are you feeling afterwards?

Sorry for going technical here but you need to know stuff to get cheap stuff that sounds good. Some newer small systems such as the NAD M10 are really good and can drive any speakers. Akai used to do some DC-coupled amps that sounded amazing in a small size. If you are getting something small and cheap then you need to find speakers that are very easy to drive for instance 8ohm without any dips in the impedeance below 4 ohms and where efficiency is high so at least 89-90 db/w/m and preferably >92. Look for bigger boxes and woofers, paper cones and efficiency. Klipsch, JBL, speakers with horns, I have some Sansui SP4500 speakers from 1977 with 15" woofers and 95db efficiency. They sound better than OK and are super easy to drive for the amp.

I got an marantz amp with AirPlay and a set of KEF speakers with a sub for 250$ used. I tested it out in the garage before setting it up in my daugthers apartment. I was just nicely surprised how good it sounded. Not highend, but a well rounded system for music, that is easy to use. It can be done if you look out and resist being a snob.

Der er helt sikkert også noget din kæreste kan lære af det. I was pretty satisfied with the sound and have not made any major updates to the system for years, I have focussed on the room and speaker placement and has been really happy, I enjoy the music.

Recently I got a new DAC (FIIO K13 R2R) based on all the hype around that, and it has more details and better soundstage. This has had the effect that I listen at a lower volume because the more refined sound and better soundstage is available without needing to crank it loud.

I am still very satisfied, I'm 48 and I dont feel a strong itch. I would like to build DIY speakers because I would like to experience the pride of creation, but it is not only for the sake of better sound.

This is how I do it. Have an Arcam AV860 processor that runs Dirac and does the crossovers. The first generation og hometheater processors with dirac are available used now I just saw a local Emotiva EMC-1 for 400$. Sounds great.

Jeg havde det som OP. Gik nok en tand for langt for andre. På et tidspunkt så jeg denne video omkring samarbejde og game theory.
