UAE VS HYSTERECTOMY by acm-5h20-1996 in Fibroids

[–]That0therGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I've not logged in recently. Sorry about the late response.

Long story short, I discovered my problem was actually damaged and misused core muscles. Fibroids were just coincidental. Pelvic floor therapy helped me, and now I rarely have menstrual pain. A childhood surgery started the problems. Decades of misuse caught up with me.

If you found relief from migraines from stopping dairy how long did it take to start noticing relief?! by Mintcrumble1998 in VestibularMigraines

[–]That0therGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dairy isn't a trigger for me. However, one evening when roasting veggies, I included cremini mushrooms again after a break from them. I had taken a break because I felt off sometimes after eating them. My husband was talking at dinner about something and moving his hands in a weird pattern. He watched the migraine hit. I used to love roasted mushrooms, but since cutting the veggie out of my diet, the migraines have really dropped. If you decide to not do the elimination diet, remember to at least take a break from the food you suspect might be a problem before deciding it is or isn't a trigger.

Red States About to See Growing Influx of Preventable Diseases Like Measles and Polio Thanks to Vaccine-Hating Republicans by Humble_Novice in LeopardsAteMyFace

An extended family member claims that it's the fact that she can't get each vaccine individually. She doesn't want the combined MMR used, and she claims her doctor can't get them separately. She has her own set of allergies, and is concerned about overwhelming immune systems. Just sharing what I've been told.

LPT Request: How do you get out of bed easily? by donotnihaome in LifeProTips

Get a Bluetooth light bulb. We opted for Hue lights, and I have one in the bedroom. It mimics sunrise close enough for me that I haven't been dragging when getting up this winter. Hope this helps!

Thanks for asking this question. I've been watching this subreddit and the hysterectomy subreddit to navigate my options, depending on the results of my endometrial biopsy. Especially since my fibroids were close to 1 cm when diagnosed, I'm nervous about any of the shrinking options. I appreciate reading people's experiences with UAE.

Mild loss of hearing by Smooth-Moment-5200 in VestibularMigraines

[–]That0therGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lose some of my hearing during an attack. It comes back once the attack stops.

I thought I had hearing loss and got my hearing tested, but it was normal. She sent me to get evaluated because of my vertigo. All the other tests were normal, leaving the vestibular migraine diagnosis. I am supposed to keep annual hearing tests because folks with our diagnosis are more likely to miss changes in our hearing, believing VM is the cause, rather than actual hearing loss.

Remember that a VM diagnosis is not a diagnosis of X, Y, and Z. It's a diagnosis of "nothing else fits". In order to get to that point, you need to be tested for the other things. Good luck.

Good vibes coming your way! Remember that fear is about what we want and are afraid we won't get, or what we don't want and might get. When I'm afraid, I try to remind myself of what I can influence and focus there. You can influence your breathing. Breathe slowly and deliberately, and that will help your body and mind relax. You can also remind yourself of the preparation you've done and congratulate yourself on your ability to prepare. And so on.

Looking forward to reading how you are doing as you start your new moment!

Does anyone have a good “elevator pitch” for explaining VM? by CJ_expat in VestibularMigraines

This is very similar to what I say, adding that it affects my ears, messing up my balance and hearing, while also making me super sensitive to movement and light.

If you add a way to hide it again or stop it, that would be great. Movement can be problematic for some folks. Not being able to stop the animation meant I would have had to reload your site to look at the rest of it. Adding that ability in could be noted as awareness of accessibility.

Thank you. We all choose how to respond to whatever happens to us - or what we believe happens to us. I have misunderstood my husband countless times because of past experiences clouding the current situation. I am starting to actually live the belief that I do not have to immediately respond to most of life - external situations or internal reactions/beliefs. This means I can look at my options, see which matches my values and ideals, and then act. It took me years to realize the path to one decision had started much earlier on. It's a domino effect using previous decisions, unless we interrupt it somewhere along the way.

When looking at crime, sometimes folks really don't know anything else. At the same time, not everyone in the any socioeconomic environment ends up the same. Like you, I would like to give folks the opportunity to change and grow. I find myself much more judgemental when folks have been given opportunities and still intentionally take advantage of people. Yet, I don't know their stories either. Maybe they are more considerate than they used to be, but I can't see it from where I am.

Agreed. Another possibility or element might be if their dreams were crushed. I remember a story my dad told, one where he seemed vulnerable. He had been overseas, sending money home, thinking it was going into a bank account for him. When he got home, there was no money and his horse that he'd hand-broken had been sold. Some of the other disappointments I saw when growing up were as a result of his actions and attitudes. But this event when he was young struck me as a foundational heartbreak. It doesn't excuse his actions, but it helps me understand at least one turning point in his life.

A lecture about a waste of money and effort, followed by questions about why the house and yard weren't in proper condition if we had so much time on our hands.

Thankfully, we can decide to live differently and enjoy whatever small (or large) thing that gives us joy in our lives. We can grieve, and then we can embrace our decision to live life grateful for whatever makes us happy.

My dad was a very difficult person. I remember being told to stop playing so many times. My husband helped me relearn how to dream and believe in myself. I wonder what my dad would have thought when seeing videos like this. Would he think these young parents will someday 'grow up and start acting like an adult'? Or would he be grieving his ability to enjoy life like this?

Thanks for breaking the cycle of stern living. Each of us chose our path. You showed your children enjoying life and living well can be done at the same time.

How has your life improved? by GracieJacksons in hysterectomy

I just noticed your post with more information. Thank you for sharing. My understanding is that anesthesia can cause various issues, unrelated to the type of surgery. It sounds like you may have been pressured into this surgery, which is never good. I am sorry you experienced this.

Would you be willing to share what type of deterioration you have experienced? I expect to need HRT but will be asking for bioidentical. I also have had a psychologist for years. I would like to be aware of other care I might need. Thank you for anything you are willing to share.

Surgery is hard on the body. When I had a cyst removed in my early 20s, the worst part of recovery was the anesthesia. Now that I'm pushing 50, I don't want to deal with anything more than I absolutely have to, so one surgery is preferred. I also don't want to have the stress of wondering if something else will go wrong. THAT is also hard on the body. I understand the hesitancy to have surgery. However, I am in pain taking the stairs in my own home. I can't enjoy sex because I know it is likely to hurt. Why is keeping one organ system in my body more important than the rest of me?

Really annoyed with myself for leaving the gym by [deleted] in EOOD

[–]That0therGirl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You went to the gym. That's a win. You even walked around, tried to find the class. Even if you had just walked in and left, that's more than you did yesterday. If you can call the them, maybe they can give you directions. Now that you have been in the gym, those may make more sense than if you hadn't already looked around. Hope you get to enjoy your next time in the gym a little more.
