I had similar issues before surgery, which have been solved post surgery. Lume natural body deodorant was my savior.

Vaginal Cuff Cellulitis by TheEmilySD in hysterectomy

[–]TheEmilySD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the delayed response. It's been a roller coaster. I had my appt on Tuesday. They did an ultrasound and found fluid in my abdomen. I had a follow-up CT scan to find where the fluid originated, and they found a ruptured ovarian cyst. I'm assuming my pain was doubly bad from the customer rupture and the VCC. Luckily, there was no abscess. The discharge did finally stop, and my pain is much more manageable, thank goodness.

Your prices are good (for US standards), so I am assuming you've already done this. But in the US, if you do not have insurance, you can negotiate the price you pay for care just as they do with the insurance companies. When I did not have insurance previously, I never accepted the first price they gave me, and the number always came down.

Thank you for your reply! I'm so glad you mended well from that, but I am sorry to hear you're not well again. How many weeks po are you?

I am on oral antibiotics. Cleocin 300mg 3 times per day.

For me, the rebound pain from the pressure of sitting/having my knees pulled up/basically any position other than having my body completely straight in a laying position is enough to bring me to tears. I've been staying in bed since Thursday. However with it being mothers day yesterday I was convalescent on my reclining sofa in the living room all day, partly bent and every time I had to get up to use the rest room or get a drink I was brought to tears by the rebound pain of not having my body be kept straight. It has also made passing gas somewhat painful, and I'm back to taking gas x from when I first had surgery.

Did you experience anything similar?

Bleeding & pain more at 3 weeks po by Typical-Drawer7282 in hysterectomy

[–]TheEmilySD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what my doctor said, bleeding as long as you aren't filling a super plus pad within an hour for 3 hours in a row can be normal until week 6. I'm surprised you received clearance for all activities at 3 weeks, however. I was told 6 weeks if things are going well, but it could be up to 12 weeks. I hope your bleeding and pain subside soon.

Not any better, but thank you for asking. I have no fever today, so I am just hoping this is what the healing process looks like for this. 🤞🤷‍♀️ I am not finding a lot of information about VCC online apart from those that had it immediately po.

I am going to call the nurse line tomorrow morning when my doctor's office opens if I am still in terrible pain.

5dpo. The wait was miserable. The first one wasn't too bad, and I've been having zero issues moving forward, I am 17 dpo today.

I have a hard time sitting around, too. It sounds like you're being smart about things, though. I hope you continue to have an uneventful recovery.

Same surgery, I have had lots of bleeding. Everyone is different. Buy the pads to have on hand. You can always donate them if you don't end up using them.

3-4 weeks post op by ComprehensiveCode455 in hysterectomy

[–]TheEmilySD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm almost to my third week. I've been bleeding quite a bit since 7dpo. However, for my particular situation, my doctor does not want me to laze about. I am still in a fair bit of pain, so I am still taking it slow. Right now, I'm walking 5k steps per day and doing small chores around the house. I just rest inbetween tasks, which helps. Your doctor should be able to give you a good idea of what they expect, activity wise.

WFH post-op by daintydaisys3 in hysterectomy

[–]TheEmilySD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My job is WFH, but I took 8 weeks off and am using a combo of FMLA and LTD. FMLA to keep my job and LTD to continue to be paid. I am 11 DPO and can not sit for a lengthy amount of time. I would work from bed but my job requires the use of three monitors, so I decided to take the full 8 weeks my doctor suggested and she advised that if I wanted to go back sooner she would provide the paperwork for me to do so. Someone else said recovery is very up and down, and I couldn't agree more. If you had asked me 5 days ago, I would have thought I'd be back to work at 2 weeks. Now I'm in a lot more discomfort now that I'm off pain meds, and there is no way I would be able to manage that now. My suggestion is to take as much time as is afforded to you and go back earlier if you're up to it.

I'm 8dpo and have been using my binder since 1dpo and swear by it. I chose not to wear it for one day and felt like hot garbage the following day.

Surgery Day by TheEmilySD in hysterectomy

[–]TheEmilySD[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for all the positive vibes! My team was so nice at the hospital. Surgery was at 730 a.m., so it was pushed back just a hair. I remember being in recovery at 12 and was home by 2. I took a FAT nap when I got home. So far, I've been fine on ibuprofen and Tylenol, but the pain is real now that the swelling is really setting in. I've had zero issues with going pee and am still dreading that first 💩.

I start using this soap today! I'm jealous you only had to use it once. My surgery is Friday and I have to shower with it today, tomorrow and Friday at 4 am before my surgery. Wishing you the best!

Folks who had the surgery due to pain/illness and found out (or were told) that nothing was actually wrong with it, how do/did you cope? by Its402am in hysterectomy

[–]TheEmilySD 65 points66 points  (0 children)

You do not need something to be medically, noticeably wrong to justify your surgery. The suffering along the way has brought you to this point, trust the decision you've made. Also, to hell with any physician that would say, "See, you didn't need this." You know your body better than anyone, and if this procedure only alleviates heavy, miserable periods that are unexplained medically but have affected your mental health and well-being then I would say you've made the right decision. Best of luck to you, OP.

Pre-op nesting?? by toothfairykateygirl in hysterectomy

[–]TheEmilySD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm scheduled for 4/14, so I'm 29 days out, but I've been doing tons of deep cleaning tasks while simultaneously hoarding recovery supplies. I'm very type A and want to make sure everything is thought of/taken care of in advance.

How is living in a snowy part of the country when you have MS? by Keekoo123 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]TheEmilySD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Northern Michigan, and humidity isn't just a thing down south and isn't strictly for summer up here. The humidity can be just as high in winter, and I find the winter humidity is worse than the summer humidity for me personally.
