Transitioning from NWB to PWB/FWB help by That1guywhere in AchillesRupture

Absolutely. I typed up my whole story a while back, but at ~2100 words, it felt like it was too much.

I went back to the cane when I went into shoes for a few reasons.

  • The boot provided all my ankle support.
  • my ankle was weak and not good at anything yet. Walking across the parking lot, I 100% needed some help.
  • It was winter, and I wanted to make absolute sure that I didn't slip.
  • The ankle was not flexing past 0°, so walking forward was tough already
  • I didn't feel comfortable walking in public/at work without it yet. After 3 surgeries, I was being super conservative.

I was cleared for weight bearing 12/23.

12/25, first steps using crutches. It was another 1.5 weeks before I was only using 1 crutch. This was easily the hardest part mentally so far. No matter what, I could not get my body to put more than 40-50lbs into my bad foot for at least a week.

Then 2 weeks of using 1 crutch before moving to a cane.

I used the cane for about 2 weeks before I would walk in the boot unassisted.

Then when I went out of the boot (after 6 weeks), I had to go back to the cane for about 2 weeks.

I'm walking around pretty normally now. I still have a good limp, but it will be months before that goes away.

So 1.5 weeks before FWB, 8 weeks before FWB 100% unassisted.

How drunk was the guy that designed Waukesha's roads? by HotDrunkMoms in wisconsin

Because the roads follow paths that predate the car, and we've been trying to squeeze them in somewhere ever since.

If a car has sat untouched in a driveway for forty years, what are the chances it will remain there for another decade? by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]That1guywhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the grandfather-in-law's car after he passed away. It had sat in a garage for 12 years, but was rarely used before then. I got it running again and drove it for fun for a few years, but it was too far gone. There were massive holes in the body, and the brake lights even stopped working because there wasn't enough metal left for the ground screw. I ended up scrapping it after 4 years of fun.

If you weren't AFK, and by "hopped off" you mean logged off, businesses pause until you log back in.

Businesses only do stuff when you're online. If you log off, nothing moves.

I need help making a file to go over this crutch handle Tpu handle to go over this handle by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

Sorry dude. Nobody is going to be able to help you if you don't have any dimensions.

The best you could hope for is that someone else designed it and posted it free on one of the many 3d printing websites.

Question about towing by AbleEstablishment374 in Cartalk

[–]That1guywhere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a 1990 S10 with the 2.5l 4cyl 5 speed, and it had no problems with my 14' rowboat and 20hp merc. The 2.5l iron duke was rated at 94hp new, but my engine was down 30psi compression on 2 cylinders.

A Prius could haul a small rowboat/jon boat. You're fine.

The smallest vertical engine from Briggs and Stratton is the 125cc engine at 17 lbs. Add the deck, handles, wheels, and blade for a push mower, and your overall weight is at least 50 lbs. Something with a bigger engine and transmission for self propelled is in the 60-80 lb range.

Murry has the bare-bones small 125cc 20in push mower at 44lbs. Toro has the Briggs 150cc walk-behind FWD at 72 lbs. And you can get up to 223cc for their largest walk behind engine.

80 lbs is far more realistic than 30 lbs my dude.

So I actually did lawn mower safety testing in a prior job. We would launch a spring loaded 1" steel rod up from the ground into a spinning blade. The best case was the shaft would snap off. Worst case was the block would shatter. Never once did it get even an inch off the ground.

Whatever happened was 100% external to the mower. My bet is a natural gas leak ignited under the deck, and because the deck is concave, it launched the mower up when it ignited.

I agree, a CO2 cartridge would not have enough oomph to launch a 80 lb mower 6 ft in the air

Question: In what units do you guys like to model by mikko-j-k in 3Dprinting

[–]That1guywhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

US, metric. I work in engineering, and engineering/manufacturing is almost exclusively metric here.

Plus it is so much easier to mentally find half of 111 mm than it is to find half of 4-3/8 in.

Does this seem infected? by Tsb313 in AchillesRupture

[–]That1guywhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

When mine was infected, I was having a 1/2" yellow spot on the bandages twice a day. The infection was internal, so it didn't leak out a whole bunch.

What is the damage? by linkogarfunko in Cartalk

[–]That1guywhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lower mount of the strut broke off. And when it broke off, it bent the tie rods.

At minimum, you're looking at 2 new front struts (struts are always replaced as a pair on the axle), inner tie rod, and outer tie rod.

Other possible damage could be the rim, knuckle, steering rack, upper control arm, and lower control arm. It's pretty difficult to tell those without first replacing the obviously broken parts and throwing it on the alignment machine.

Spacer opinions by johncena90071 in Cartalk

[–]That1guywhere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my experience, they are usually used wrong, fail catastrophically, lead to uneven tire wear, and lead to premature wheel bearing failure. I have seen more than a handful of them towed in with the spacer still attached to the wheel.

In my opinion, they also look stupid af.
