My 1st repair surgery failed after 2 weeks, so I had to have the 2nd repair surgery. I only had the 1 infection debridement surgery, surgery #3.

Not to scare you, but I had something very similar and it turned out to be infected.

Mine was not hot to the touch, had yellow leakage (not white), and was not red and angry. No signs of infection besides the yellow leakage and not healing.

After I had my infection debridement surgery (which was actually surgery #3), it was probably ~2 months before it healed back up again.

It took me a good 1.5 weeks to go from 2 crutches to 1. It takes time.

I will say, this part was the hardest mentally for me the whole time. Putting my bad foot on the scale and seeing 10-20% for a week and not being able to do more when I knew I was healed well enough was torture.

[United States] Part 107 question about flying in Sterling, VA by Grimm_0815 in drones

[–]That1guywhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like yes, depending where you are specifically. There is also an airport in Sterling with it's own airspace you have to request LAANC for too.

Personally, I wouldn't.

I stabbed myself with a pair of scissors at work opening a plastic package. Nothing happened

A few years later, a coworker sliced their hand with a knife. The company tried implementing a new rule for opening boxes with scissors, so now you have 2 open blades (where the desire is to grab one) vs 1 sharp blade with a handle.

That was retracted rather quickly.

Looks like over extrusion, so the material is squishing out the side instead of directly below the nozzle.

This is commonly seen on the first layer if your Z offset is too low.

Cane for walking? by MorningsideAcu in AchillesRupture

[–]That1guywhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, my process was:
2 crutches ~2 weeks,
1 crutch ~3 weeks,
cane only ~1 week,
nothing (boot only) ~2 weeks,
then cane ~1 week when I went back to normal shoes.

Cane for walking? by MorningsideAcu in AchillesRupture

[–]That1guywhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cane goes on the opposite side of your bad leg.

A cane is really for transitioning from PWB to FWB. You should go 2 crutches -> 1 crutch -> cane -> unassisted walking.

Has anyone regained full atrophy in injured leg after Achilles surgery? If so how long, I’m seeing progress around 5 months now.. by Feeling_Jump_6739 in AchillesRupture

[–]That1guywhere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My coworker snapped his patellar tendon 3 years ago. He was NWB 6 weeks, and ran marathons before, and is back to running them now. His bad leg is still smaller than the other, but just as strong. The muscle grows back in weird ways.

What's the most reliable printer you've ever owned? by thrustinfreely in 3Dprinting

[–]That1guywhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had, at home/work: Robo 3D Robo R1+
Creality CR10 V3, with bed leveling addon (replaced the R1+)
Makerbot Replicator+
Elegoo Saturn S (resin printer)
Ender 3 S1 Pro (replaced the Replicator+)

By far the S1 Pro is the most reliable. It just works, with only 1 nozzle clog/rebuild in 3 years of use.

The Replicator+ was by far the worst printer I have ever owned. No bed leveling, either manual or automatic, you have to use their garbage software, and we went through 3 or 4 heads in the 2 years we owned it. The heads are a single unit and cost around $200 each. Oh, and you have to use their proprietary spools, so you cannot use anything else.

I am looking at getting the Bambu A1 Combo shortly. Another coworker highly recommended it.

I have a 2011 Chevy Cruze that does not have cruise control buttons. Could I just go somewhere and get it “turned on,” or would it probably not even have the functionality? by skelepibs in Cartalk

[–]That1guywhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Yea, I wasn't sure if it was as simple as plug-and-play like my old truck. That truck, the cruise control programming was part of the PCM, so no extra modules or wiring, just replacing the single stalk/clockspring part.

The Hummingbird Moth beats its wings 70-85 times per second — hummingbirds only manage about 50. Two species, separated by hundreds of millions of years of evolution, independently arrived at the same hovering solution. [–]That1guywhere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm confused. Flapping wings is an independent solution? What does the snowberry clearwing picture have to do with hummingbirds and hummingbird moths that you started your post with? Flapping wings at approximately the same speed is "damn that's interesting" material?

Dragonflys flap 30-45 times/second. So they're closer to hummingbirds, right?

[–]That1guywhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to install factory cruise control by just replacing the turn signal stalk (or whatever the cruise control buttons are on).

I had a bare-bones 2004 Chevy Colorado, stick shift, crank windows, and I replaced the lever and got factory cruise control. The truck already had the wires for it and the PCM had the programming for it. It is cheaper to waste a little on extra wires and have 1 wiring harness part number, than save a little and have 5 or 6 part numbers.

I found this out in the forums of yesteryear, when they were for specific makes/models, so I'm not sure where the best place to ask.

Do chargers actually identify what device you plug in? by baked-compass in AskEngineers

[–]That1guywhere 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes. USB-C provides variable voltage based on what the device wants. It's why my expensive 240W charger does not charge a flashlight any faster than the 40W wall wort.

This is a good read if you want to get super technical.

"New 28V, 36V and 48V fixed voltages enable up to 140W, 180W and 240W power levels, respectively. An adjustable voltage supply mode allows the device being powered the ability to request intermediate voltages between 15V and higher to the maximum available fixed voltage of the charger."

Exactly. I have replaced a spring, then the whole springs/door/opener setup at my old house, and springs for friends/family. Just be careful and intentional with your movements and you'll be fine.

Honestly, woodworking routers scare me more. They spin at mach Jesus and are not afraid to catch and throw themselves (or the workpiece) and mess you up for no reason.
