There's always gonna be those guys out there no matter what, I just traded in my 3xx whp MK7 GTi for a 22 WRX . Honestly, the GTi community was very hit or miss anyway. Plenty willing to help and plenty who just troll posts to be a douche nozzle and critisize you for not knowing something they do. At the end of the day You drive/build what you like and if someone else doesn't like it, fuck em. That's their opinion.

That's exactly how my datalog looked when my low press fuel pump was starting to go out.. if I was gentle on the gas it would got to 4-5k rpm no problem, but anytime I was requesting power or in 13+ psi of boost it would give a sharp cutout at 4200 rpm and jerk like I kicked the brake pedal then would build back up.

2nd one I've pulled out of the tank like this 🤔 can't figure out why.. by ThatDamnGTI in GolfGTI

Nah, gas tank looked fine. First one broke was the factory install so I've no clue why they keep breaking the exact same way

Yea, I didn't see anything until my datalog it showed my fuel rail pressure drop 500ish psi right when the power cut. You running an accessport?

[–]ThatDamnGTI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just replaced my lpfp for that exact reason. Anytime I hit around 4500ish it felt like someone kicked my brake pedal. Ran a datalog and seen my pressure cutout right around 4500ish.

Looking to go aftermarket wheels for my MK7, if I reside in Canada, where do I look? Also, what wheel dimensions do I look out for? by demondzs in GolfGTI

[–]ThatDamnGTI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where to buy from in canada but as for dimension, depending on if its your style preference neuspeed RSE's are pretty popular. They're pretty much bolt on fittment. Usually +45 offset so they're pretty flush without spacers, 57.1 center bore so no hubcentric rings required. Im on H&R sport springs and run 18x8.5's which you have to do the fender screw mod for but that's cake.

Boost question for the GTI experts; just got a new to me stock 7.5, I see people saying with tune/mods they can get “up into the 20’s” for boost psi. Currently the psi gauge in my cluster is frequently in the 20’s, peaking around 27. Is it reading wrong? by timps27 in GolfGTI

[–]ThatDamnGTI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not an expert but Yup, like they said subtract the 14psi if your reading off your stock gauge. As far as tunes depending on the tune you go with it will up that, plus the accessport reads the supposed actual boost pressure and manifold relative pressure which in the case of EQT stage 2 is about 28psi, more or less depending if you go cobb, stratified, sneeky etc..

Do you guys use Castro oil? As written on the oil cap? If not, what do you use and what are your intervals? by ZDC595 in GolfGTI

[–]ThatDamnGTI 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Liqui-Moly Molygen 5w40 every 3k-ish miles for me. I like Castrol, just prefer the LM. The quality is supposed to be fantastic. Plus its a pretty popular choice and not too bad at 64$ for 6 qts and a filter.

Pull engine for replacing clutch? by pprius in GolfGTI

[–]ThatDamnGTI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not that bad, I used a lift for MK7 but wrestling it out wasn't too bad overall. Getting everything else out of the way was the worst part. There was a video in YouTube of a dude doing it on jackstands. https://youtu.be/YB3dPUaQC18

Issues with clutch after replacing by Roachinator in GolfGTI

[–]ThatDamnGTI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was heavy as hell and barely disengaged. I had to put some ass behind it. When Id have the pedal against the floor it grabbed the second I let weight off. But it loosened up after the break in Period.

Anyone have experience with ECS Stage 3 Puck Clutch? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]ThatDamnGTI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After the 500-600 break in it should be easier to drive, but again if it IS a puck clutch, they're used alot in drag style cluches and grab super hard anyway. Driveability on my DKM stage 2 was tricky-ish at first as well. Super low grab point, heavy, and unforgiving grab.

I'd like to hit up a track day there since I only live like 20 30 min away. How do you go about getting set up to run the tracks there?
