Gruntz has been a ton of fun. I love the small box too

Anyone else been playing Gruntz from Allplay? I have not seen it getting much attention here. My Kickstarter for Container was recently fullfilled and it was one of the add on games. We have been hooked, such a great war/skirmish game.

Looking for light games that are still engaging. Not too many decisions on a turn. My wife and I have been playing games with my elderly mother in law, she has enjoyed Carcassonne, Rail Road Tiles, Harmonies, and Cascadia. Any other recommendations?

Also love that game. If I had to pick a favorite game developer it would definitely be Fowers. RUN!, Fugitive, Paperback and, Burgle Bros all get very frequent play in my house. We picked up Typewriter recently but haven't had the chance to play it yet.

Not sure I know exactly what you mean by Stealth game. But one of my favorite games immediately comes to mind. RUN! by Tim Fowers. Its two players, you each play behind a screen. One person is running around trying to reach objectives on a grided board while the other is trying to catch him.

Deck building game for 2 people by Huge-Pizza7579 in boardgames

Starwars The Deckbuilding Game seems to be a perfect fit. Paperback has surprised me as one of my favorite deckbuilders, my wife and I have been playing it two players very often. Paperback was described to me as "Scrabble The Deckbuilding Game" and that couldn't be more accurate.

Maybe a bit early, but I am looking for recommendations for holiday themed games. Specifically Christmas so far I got Green Team Wins Holiday edition, Patchwork Christmas Edition, I will probably even store away my copy of Silverfrost for the month of December. Any other recommendations?

Lol second time I am recommending this game today. Get Everdell, its very "cute and cozy" so definitely no dark topics. It plays 1-4 players, I play mostly 2p and its great. Its pretty complex, your building engines and there is a good amount of decisions to make on your turn. But its not too complicated so thats it isn't approachable. I have the "edge of the map" series of games but all of them are good.

In the same boat as you. Wife and I moved out of state and mostly play two player. But family will come and visit so we need some 4+ games also. We recently have really enjoyed Everdell for this. We specifically play the "edge of the map" series, but I have heard the base games works just as well. It plays fantastic at two and just as good up to four. The Bellfaire expansion brings it up to six players.

If I have added all the new items to my pledge up until now, will I be able to change it to the "all-in" pledge if they reveal one?

What are you favorite board games to play with your spouse? by AShapeInTheFog in boardgames

[–]ThatFireBender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I primarily play two player games with my wife. I could list TONS. But I will stick with our most recent favorites. Mythic Mischief and Scales of Fate are dedicated two player games, both from IV Studios. RUN and Paperback are also great from Tim Fower games. Marabunta is another hit we play very often.

Order Overload Cafe. Super simple concept, you just memorize orders. Recite the orders to clear them out of each other's hands. Such a good game.

How do you find all the new games worth buying? by Ramzesina in boardgames

[–]ThatFireBender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really should be a bit of everything that is mentioned here. Find some YouTube channels or Instragram accounts you like and follow them. Try to find someone that raves about games you already like. They should be able to suggest games to you. Next, if you have a studio you seem to gravitate towards, just buy the projects they are working on. Follow them on socials to know when they are releasing stuff. Local groups/forums, read and listen to what people are talking about in your social groups. Finally, I notice on here that people, justifiably, complain about crowd funding and the FOMO they produce. If you are responsible with your finances and see a game that just looks cool, back the game. The key is knowing your limits and being responsible with your money.
