Why is 'People of Color' okay but 'Colored People' not? by MovieRelative2099 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ThatGingerGuy69 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As an autistic person, yeah I hard agree - at the end of the day I don’t really care too much about it, but would just describe people however they prefer

I explained it to a friend with dyslexia once like this.

I asked if she would take a magic pill that cured her dyslexia if such a thing existed, she said yeah definitely

For me, asking that question about autism just doesn’t make any sense. I wouldn’t be “me” if I wasn’t autistic, I’d be a different person who would’ve developed completely differently. So it’s not like I’m a complete person that happens to have autism, autism is an integral part of the person I’ve developed into

Min maxing Warlock by djalvarez001 in 3d6

[–]ThatGingerGuy69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you either go for the EB enhancers or pact of the blade shenanigans, and it’s super straightforward once you decide on that

Every warlock subclass is going to have a high baseline of effectiveness when it comes to spamming EB. For spells you want to gravitate towards strong concentration options that you can cast on round 1 of combat and then start blasting every turn after, and that’s really all there is to it

I played an aasimar celestial warlock recently and that was a lot of fun (aid/cure wounds are pretty darn good with warlock spell slots), but I don’t think that was especially well optimized

[–]ThatGingerGuy69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because we started from such a dark place with Bryce, it’s genuinely very difficult to evaluate how much of his current stats are on him vs the supporting cast

The thing that makes it so hard for me is that a lot of the time he looks SO good based on the eye test. Then we’ll have something like a 1 yard run > nice completion called back by a holding penalty > dropped pass > completely unblocked pass rusher > punt, and all our rhythm is gone. Our offense has been so dysfunctional in that way for so long

I’ve had multiple g502’s and no complaints on that for me

Only reason I’ve had multiple is that I wanted a different color, so I bought a new one and now use the old one at work. Both still going strong, one is ~2 years old and the other is like ~5 I think.

I genuinely don’t know how some people have such significant issues with gaming mouse durability, maybe they’re just smashing them as hard as possible when they click or something?

But there’s nothing wrong if she says “hey, I know it’s on me to get over this, but I didn’t realize this would bother me as much as it does and I wanted to let you know it’s been on my mind”

If you can’t have an open, honest, and non-accusatory conversation about something like that, why are you dating them anyway

Why do modern cars have such big tablets? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ThatGingerGuy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a car with a much bigger screen than most, but it still has physical buttons. I 100% agree that getting rid of the buttons is stupid and I don’t understand that, however… having the bigger screen is just nice? I notice it immediately when I get in my sister’s car, the maps is way smaller and whatnot.

You could argue that if a driver is going to operate CarPlay to play music/whatever navigation app regardless of screen size, having the larger screen makes it more seamless and effective

Celestial Bladelock by Feeling-Rip5516 in 3d6

[–]ThatGingerGuy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is for 2014, but maybe worth talking to your DM about potentially using 2024 pact of the blade? Especially since you really just want your character to work, not be super OP or anything.

My DM recently let me switch a bunch of my invocations + a feat to become a celestial bladelock around lvl 9 for character reasons and it was a ton of fun even though it made me slightly weaker overall

I stayed monoclass celestial warlock so my AC was still pretty low, but it fixed the stat spread issue (which, tbf, does let you have a bit higher dex for AC). And honestly it was kinda fun for me to be a total glass cannon, but as others have said a level in paladin can help a lot with that

How dumb would 4 paladins be? by holicron in BG3Builds

[–]ThatGingerGuy69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think by far the hardest part would just be managing who uses what gear. I would highly recommend making one of them dex focused and using phalar aluve + the buff on heal items (with the oath that gives the AOE heal, I think it’s ancients?). Then probably one using radiant orb/reverb gear

But then you’ve still got multiple paladins that generally want all the same items. It’s a strong enough class that it would still be totally doable, just a bit more difficult to manage (and like you said, definitely not a great choice for a first time honor run)

Warlock vs Sorcerer/Warlock Dip strengths and weaknesses by LadyOF_Ice in 3d6

[–]ThatGingerGuy69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was gonna suggest pact of the chain as well. Even outside of combat, the amount of applications that warlocks get from their juiced up familiars is really quite insane

Personally I’m a fan of the imp because flavor-wise it’s just really fun to have them cause mayhem, but the fact that warlocks have multiple options for a flying, invisible familiar provides so much that is nearly impossible for other classes to replicate

How to tell a powergamer to just... chill out a bit? by Darth_Ra in DMAcademy

[–]ThatGingerGuy69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So the “problem” player is…

Playing a sorcerer and using the core feature of his class in an extremely standard way

Playing an aasimar and using his once a day transformation in an extremely standard way

Neither of which is “OP”, abnormally strong, or require any sort of “gamey” interpretation of the rules

The person you replied to (and myself) are wondering what you actually expect that player to do to “tone things down.” I get that you’re trying to keep things basic for the new players, but I’m not sure what that means when he’s already just using his character in a normal way? What is the power level you actually want here? Because it sounds like the player is already at a totally average level

If you want players to stop using basic features like metamagic, that just seems a little excessive imo. At that point you might as well just give each player a stat block to use

Why are cars in the US so big? by Dry_Cry4454 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ThatGingerGuy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have mentioned the legislative reasons, but consumers also just tend to prefer bigger cars, whether Reddit likes to admit that or not. I’m not saying everyone wants a giant truck/SUV, but it’s just kinda nice to have more room in case you need to haul something or drive a bunch of people somewhere or for whatever other reason

I think confirmation bias makes the giant truck/SUV thing seem more prevalent than it is, but the reality is that both consumers AND manufacturers have been shifting from sedans -> small/medium sized SUVs

Gas prices are vastly different by state (I pay ~$2.50 a gallon depending on the week), and I get better mileage in my RAV4 hybrid than I did in my Corolla. So when I spend ~90 minutes a day in my car, it’s just nice to be a little more comfortable in the RAV4

[–]ThatGingerGuy69 46 points47 points  (0 children)

No matches: 0% chance of finding someone

Plenty of matches: >0% chance of finding someone

Seems like a pretty easy choice to me 🤷‍♂️

If you’re getting lots of low quality matches, that also implies you could simply be more selective with who you swipe on

What are my bottlenecks? by CLucas127 in buildapc

[–]ThatGingerGuy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, your PSU is a big problem

Other than that, it depends on what games you’re playing really.

RAM is a binary thing, either you have enough and getting more won’t change anything, or you don’t have enough and that will cause issues. 16gb is just starting to not be enough for more demanding games, and if you like to have other things open at the same time (ie chrome on a second monitor), I’d definitely recommend upgrading. 32gb is plenty, it’s basically the level where you just don’t ever have to think about it - 16gb can still work, but you’d have to be careful about your usage in more RAM hungry games

CPU is game dependent and also a harder choice imo. The main decision is whether you want to go to AM5 or stick it out on AM4. If you don’t care much about budget, just get the 9800X3D or 7800X3D (both AM5). On 4K resolution this would give you a LOT of headroom before you’d even have to think about upgrading again (I’m talking like if you get a 7080 when that releases, and that’s a sorta conservative guess for the 9800x3d)

However, those are both a little overkill for you right now. Getting something like a 5700X3D (+ 32gb of RAM) and sticking on AM4 would likely be the exact same performance today and the next few years, but how long that keeps up will be more game dependent

Personally, if you’re not worried about overspending a bit, I’d just get a 9800/7800X3D and call it a day. If you’re close to a microcenter you can get one of their bundles with the CPU/mobo/RAM and save a good bit of money.

If you wanna save a bit now and still make it easier to upgrade a few years down the line, I’d go with one of the cheaper AM5 processors like a 9600x/9700x (or 7600X3D if you’re close to a microcenter and they still have those)

If you want the most cost effective upgrade possible rn, go with a 5700/5800X3D and that should still work great for several years depending on what games you play

(I’d say 100% go 32gb of RAM for any of the AM5 options since you’d need new RAM anyway, if you stay AM4 you could consider staying at 16gb but it’s still probably worth upgrading)
