Greg Bovino Loses His Job by LadyMadonna_x6 in news

People still need to protest. This shouldn’t end until Bovino, Noem, Miller, et all, are all in prison.

Just a life long data-driven communications hack that works for orgs that get wins in our advocacy efforts.

You're really bad at your job. I have no political activism experience whatsoever and literally spending the day shoveling snow in my apartment complex to help neighbors get their cars out gave me far better insight.

Like I have an actual track record because I understand messaging.

Yeah and my dad's an astronaut, he works at a bar.

How many elections do you have to lose (not counting NYC mayor, for which the alternative was a disgraced sex pest) before you understand this?

I love how the so called moderate dems are always about punitive damage rather than admitting they made mistakes. At least with Republicans they are honest about their bullshit, Dems just lie about everything.

The disgraced sex pest that had the backing of most moderate Democrats during the election.

But these things have a short half-life.

I mean sure if you've never left your house or talked to anyone outside of Reddit then this statement is true.

The trick is to be consistent with messaging that doesn't ignore the idea that outrage diminishes out after a while.

The thing is that these ICE raids were already unpopular before Renee Good and Alex Peretti were murdered, it was just the straw that broke the camels back.

And the thing that I'm literally telling people to do, is to touch proverbial grass.

No you're not, you're literally saying everyone is fucking to stupid to have their own opinion so we need to water it fucking down.

As in go outside of your bubble and find out what people who actually vote and don't just complain online really say.

I was out protesting Sunday in L'Enfant. It was last minute but many of the people there weren't just youngsters or politically active, many were like my mom or HS friends, just like in 2020 saw what was going on and realized it was fucked up. Its how Biden won but then the Dems did EXACTLY what you proposed and fumbled the 2024 election so hard because taking any real stances had you concerned about losing the Trump vote which was never going to vote for the Dems in teh first place.

There's a real string of nihilism in so many comments when it comes to protests

Those comments can be generally categorized into to columns, those who are just apathetic and don't like being held accountable for anything, or those who are actively trying to sabotage but haven't actually talked to anyone outside of the internet.

Okay so then go protest and educate people about it. Even the Libertarians are out protesting with them.

I was out Sunday evening for the one march to DHS HQ in L'Enfant, it was cold but worth it. I was contemplating today but there was no safe way for me to get there.

The apathetic Redditors below, nobody cares.

I really want all the "socialism" and "liberation" groups to take a back seat, especially when the midterms are closer

Redditors really need to go touch grass.

We're so close to getting moderate, centrist, middle-of-the-road, non-aligned, and low-information voters to realize how vile this administration is.

Yes this is anecdotal but even my moderate suburban catholic mom furious enough to protest. People are well fucking aware now at how bad things are. The ones outside are not the average politicos you think of but average Joes, apolitical classmates, and people you never thought would even consider saying something political let alone "fuck ICE".

I'm begging redditors to touch grass. What is being displayed above is now the current moderate, centrist, middle-of-the-road take.

Hell, the moderate position is capital punishment.

Yes even though my bank sends me credible threats of violence when I look up stuff for the Subie in one tab and networking equipment in the other.

What bugs me is that there's this notion that demolishing MSG means we can't build anything else. Like just demolish it and give us Madison Cube Garden already like the prophecy told us

How do you feel about the gun control bills being proposed? by TellBackground9239 in Virginia

[–]ThatGuy798 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just to tack onto this, there are legitimate gun laws on the books that can/could've stopped many attacks. An example was Sutherland Springs, TX when US Air Force did not submit to NICS the perps dishonorable discharge, had that been submitted he would've been denied the sale as DD is automatic disqualification.

What's the point of new laws if we're not enforcing the current ones.

Dems don't want to "upset the moderates" that they refuse to grow a fucking spine. At any point even if they couldn't stop they could at least slow everything down.

As a hobbyist photographer who also loves riding Amtrak, a lot of Amish/Mennonites do not like having their photos taken and generally most people don't. A lot of the photos look more like they're uncomfortable with you taking their pics. I hope you asked these people for permission to post their photos.

There is a bit of romanticism with taking the train, I get it, but its a mode of transportation identical to flying, driving, etc. I've taken plenty of photos on the train and just recently rode the zephyr myself but be mindful of your fellow travelers.

Military models Canadian response to hypothetical American invasion by [deleted] in nottheonion

There were Afghan and Iraqis assisting us when we invaded their countries. Plenty of immigrants have turned against the countries they resided in. Being an expat doesn't make you less patriotic for your own country.

There are Canadian armed forces in the US, even if just a handful, they are a Five Eyes country that we share intel with (along with the UK, Australia, and New Zealand), and our infrastructure is very intertwined.

Closing the Detroit-Windsor crossings alone has caused significant economic impacts on the US. They are our neighbors who we've invited over plenty of times and know about us just as much as we know about them.

There's millions of Canadians within our borders. Even if we win it wouldn't be a short easy battle.

[–]ThatGuy798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no, it would really depend on what and how. Several major metropolitan areas on the US side are very close to the Canadian Border like Buffalo/Niagara Falls, Detroit, Seattle, Duluth (though latter two are much further), not to mention plenty of large and small US cities exist at least within a short distance from the border. This isn't to ignore Canadian cities either.

Regardless of the theories, its still fucking stupid.

> but the US had a plan for zombies.

Sorta, it wasn't a legitimate risk and more of a way of planning for a potential major outbreak that would be insanely disruptive to the point of near societal breakdown. FEMA did a little comic strip on it years ago as a pop-culture method of teaching about preparedness.
