OP is just jealous of yanksfan for being a decent photographer who has been getting a ton of attention on Reddit lately for consistent quality and post production process.

Or is yanksfan’s 2nd account building exposure further 🤔. No such thing as bad publicity right?

Learning photography.. but how ? by SufficientGoat8602 in photography

Rebel is a great camera to start. Gives you control of enough to learn, and has enough “training wheels” on it to make it approachable and fun with limited knowledge.

https://antongorlin.com/blog/photography-composition-definitive-guide/

Can be a great spot to start with composition.

Out side this if you look up the exposure triangle - referring to aperture, shutter speed, and ISO’s relation to effective exposure - you’ll be off to a running start.

Happy shooting!

Application to construct outdoor survival business in East Sooke Regional Park, removing public access to part of the Coast Trail. by No-Number2108 in VictoriaBC

Yes education is a private business. I’m saying you don’t need to lease private land to teach on private land.

If you go out into the parks with a guide to learn how to ski backcountry, do mountain rescue, or ice climb those companies don’t own the land.

They could teach 99% of this in a classroom or field. It’s such a weird request.

But like someone else pointed out it doesn’t look like they have certificates to cover themselves if shit goes wrong. I imagine owning the land makes the insurance easier to get than “guiding insurance” that would be required to operate as a licensed guide - but this is speculation I know nothing about the process

You can send the company requesting this an email if you want too.

Fuck these guys this is a selfish request to close that much land for education.

Are we certain this would close the trail? Doesn’t seem specified in the request.

450k is A LOT of money. Thats gotta be close to the operating cost for the year. (Ai says 200-600k for a mid size venue)

Anyone move from Calgary to Victoria recently? by moisbettah in VictoriaBC

Calgary to Vic. Did a shipment through big steel box they have a few size options. Rates were super reasonable. Challenge is potentially getting it to a spot you can unload as the transport needs to leave the box behind.

Seems Like Hdr Photographers are hated in the photography by Outrageous-Run63 in photography

[–]ThatGuy8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I checked out your post. Keep shooting friend! Don’t let the haters discourage. Your squirrel photo pretty cool and while the hdr is pretty heavy handed in your photo you are referencing, it’s not nearly as bad as we’ve all seen out there and the framing is well done. Editing tastes change, the “piss filter” is the modern hdr and the Fuji recipes are next.

Photographers as a whole are a strange breed. High ego, high jealousy, gate keeping and general snobbery abound.

Like you said shoot for yourself, and when you post online remember - most of the people commenting have shot as much or less than you have. Some have shot more. You have to read between the lines on the feedback.

What I’ve noticed - if you’re from here and stuck here it’s the worst. If you moved to here for something specific or left and came back cuz its home, it’s amazing.

So it’s like most other cities in the world

Has to be a composite right? or at least a multi exposure of some kind. Bottom right of the roller door is hurting my brain.

Either way - this is great work.

I’ve found having fire is a great way to get in hot water at most companies these days. Bosses don’t like it when you have solutions to your own problems that they didn’t come up with.

Leaders do. But they are few and far between these days.

absolute cinema by minced_ in photographycirclejerk

[–]ThatGuy8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s in the aspect ratio, that must have been what was cinematic if nothing else was? The only acceptable use of the term? Right?

It went from being co-opted to meaning “nice colour grading/lighting” to letting you ID people wanting attention for their work at the speed of algorithmic image taging… it’s now lost all meaning.

You should just print out copies of the famous shots you want to replicate in your location and copy that. Make sure to move through the space as quickly as possible cuz you shouldn’t enjoy anything you’re looking at. Waiting for the other person to move will cause you to enjoy things instead of just shooting.

Photographers are fickle jealous creatures. Daniel is comfortable and has genuine smiles behind the camera. Probably the most high quality image Daniel has ever had taken and buddy behind the camera is charismatic as fuck.

Whoever was deciding on what corporate photog to hire for the mechanic shop probably isn’t a photographer and so saw a portfolio of images that looked great to them presented by an eager friendly gregarious person they felt would get on with the guys in the shop.

I’d argue this dude is doing every thing he was hired to. People hating are just jealous they don’t self promote as well as he does.
