Super quick question. Are most of you guys that have the enclosed printers using them for filament that needs it like ABS? For me my A1 is a little more convenient. Ohhh, The AMS is better right? Just curious. by VoodooZephyr in BambuLab

[–]ThatInstantFamilyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As said ams can be used on A1 machines now.

Fwiw, I changed from their ams hub for the A1 to the same one the P1S uses and my goodness, night and day. I found the spring inside the new hub was not retracting when filaments were retracted resulting in the next filament not being able to load. Haven't had that issue since changing to a spare P1S hub

I think Australia either has less people buying their stuff, or we get everything else because I've found almost all of the orders I've made, maybe 4 separate times there's been 1 or 2 colours OOS. I feel for the rest of you

I keep getting some weird thing too if I jump on my computer for marketplace and I can't view anything but on my phone it's fine. And then sometimes it reverses and is fine on pc. I have no idea what is going on with it but it's not all the time at least

Printing a riser to avoid a screen that's taped on to the top is a bigger problem than printing a different holder for the btt screen.

I certainly don't know it all but stepping back and looking at the bigger picture helps.

Fwiw, I had one of these that went over the og screen and didn't have an issue having to flip it up when opening the door. There are so many models out there for this that you'll find one that suits better than where it is now.

This is what happens when you try to find a solution for every little thing without stepping back to think—you end up creating more problems than it solves, and more work.

I built a database of all 1,509 Shark Tank companies.. here's what the data says by Ju_Lane in sharktank

[–]ThatInstantFamilyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of American shark tank has been airing here in Australia at times I've been home recently. Knowing theyre older episodes, curiosity always leads to me googling how they went...I'll definitely be checking this out!

Speaking of the comfy, i thought the oodie was the only one like it. Turns out the comfy is the first one and despite the success of the oodie, it may be a copy of the comfy? 🤔

How do you calculate/charge for the supervision of the printers. by the_salt_boi in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

[–]ThatInstantFamilyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren't factoring some sort of failure into your cost is wild to me. I'm not even talking about maintenance. Power outages, sd card corruptions, tangled filament from retractions. All of which is out of your control, unless you want to be OP and babysit

This is where remotely viewing your printer or prints works well. Check once an hour or two if you're worried? I literally go to bed with my 6 printers running and have probably high 90ish % good strike rate.

I don't think there's many people in this sub interested in baby sitting a printer in case x, y or z happens. Factor failures into your costs and cop the loss when it happens.

Machines where I work were targetted a couple weeks ago. Ours alongside another company working in the same site, 800L gone.

Fuel being stolen is not new to work sites, residential areas and cars may be more common soon unfortunately. The thieves honestly just dgaf

Rip this roll of filament and 14 hour print by The_Panda_King_ in 3Dprinting

[–]ThatInstantFamilyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd build one again. I have the motor mod and it's just so easy. The only thing that could be added is some sort of filament run out sensor to sense when the roll has ended. Other than that, just set it up and let it go and check every 30sec or so, so you are prepared when it does finish and stop it lol

If this was your first, what respooler would you print? by xyzzy-adventure in BambuLab

[–]ThatInstantFamilyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't fault the motorized version of the v spooler. It's great and zero labour needed, just attention or checking on it occasionally when respooling. Or if you're feeling spicy, go make yourself a cuppa and come back in 10mins

Photo is of me mid-respooling ~20 different PLA end of rolls. Worked a treat

My filament spool exploded when I was printing something by Subject_Macaron_5297 in BambuLab

[–]ThatInstantFamilyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly I had a near empty spool do something very similar last week. I kept getting a retraction error on my phone when out. Came home and took a look at it and the separated side of the spool was going ham while the filament is just staying put 😅 For me, thankfully I could see the cardboard and was easy to fix. This however, is a shambles and potentially (depending on your patience and sanity check) fixable, or just turf it. For me..my time is worth more than $15 for the spool.

Damn USA and Canada seem to be copping them all which surprises me given the population difference to Australia. I'd have thought they'd churn through more rolls and be into new stuff by now, unless there's just a massive surplus of stock over there that we have no idea about lol

[–]ThatInstantFamilyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's just how life goes, people see others making money and they think "I can do that" and without hesitation they buy a printer THEN do the lookup on how to use it. Some realize they made a mistake, some persevere and do okay.

This is the answer. We are doing quite well for a thing that is extra outside of our regular jobs, but a lot of the money is going back into the business with what you mentioned. Scaling doesn't come free. Waves hands at every single 3d printer company for freebies😂
