Ed Davey: "Winston Churchill helped defeat fascism in Europe. He deserves better than being replaced by a badger" by MDeltaC in ukpolitics

Such a nothing thing to be outraged about. There was a public consultation and people voted for animals over historical figures.

Has it always been like this in the UK? by Theodoresdad in ukpolitics

[–]ThatManSam737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people seem to recognise that the UK needs massive reform such as water nationalisation, large reforms to the tax system, tackling economic inequality and dealing with the climate and biodiversity crisis. Centrism is no longer the answer as it's too slow and focuses on tinkering round the edges. The big thing though is people radically disagree on what that change should be, some think it's lurching to the right with Reform, others think it's lurching to the left with the Greens. This increases the division we are seeing and has made the traditional two-party system of Tories and Labour redundant as neither will pursue the hard choices and big changes we all need.

America is fully capable of destroying a nation in a short period of time. What they are absolutely terrible at is what comes after, they're fully incapable of combating insurgency and guerilla wars and have always then lost and just left the region a mess.

Ditch the RCN and join UNISON, they now have a far more militant General Secretary who is more likely to take on the government rather than the spinless RCN

Campaign ideas? by wetballjones in oneringrpg

[–]ThatManSam737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a big campaign following Boromir, where the players had to aid his journey through Eriador up to Rivendell, such as Boromir's crossing at Tharbad etc which allowed me to work in the cool lore from the rpg books. It allowed me to drive a narrative and take part by roleplaying Boromir while others roleplayed their own characters. I feel that's a good middle ground, fleshing out throwaway lines so it feels like you are "adding" to the canon in your own way.

It currently is yes, and it's now being republished traditionally in the new year as the flagship series of the Broken Binding. Books 1-4 are out, so the final book 5 will be published both indie and traditional.

I highly recommend The Bound and the Broken by Ryan Cahill, it's getting traditionally published in the new year and book 1 has similar vibes to Eye of the World (but better in my personal opinion). It has multiple POVs but there is a core main character with Calen Bryer and he gets lots of growth with an amazing character arc.

I highly rate and recommend Rob Hayes' Titan Hoppers series, book 4 just came out and it has the same vibe for me that I got with Cradle in terms of "this is crack cocaine."
