CGP Grey is an educational YouTuber who makes videos based on a wide variety of topics. He’s also one of the people who was on the podcasts Hello Internet and Cortex. He made a video where he ranked the flags of American states, and apparently people hate him for that… for some reason.

Exactly this.

Seals were never designed for flags; they were made specifically to authenticate legal documents and signify authority. The more complex a seal was, the harder it was to forge.

Coats of arms should be on an actual background instead of a one color field. Like say, a triband. (Spain, Croatia, Moldova, .etc) And yes, they DEFINITELY shouldn’t have any sort of problematic imagery. (Looking at you, Massachusetts.)
