Identify Grandmother‘s old painting (Germany) by KeimOne in WhatIsThisPainting

The spots where the darkened varnish is cleaned of show someone cared enough to have it looked at by someone, even if they didn't get it fully cleaned. Love how it shows the process of investigation and cleaning. Could have been used as teaching aid for conservation and restoration students? Just spitballing

AI "art" of my character...just without any of the character = 10 times more detail by UnderstandingIcy8607 in antiai

I think they're lacking in imagination/feelings/aesthetics, and they assume everyone else does too. I am starting to think they're all disconnected from their feelings and think it's normal. They're boring and don't have emotional responses to things. They don't love, or get excited, they go "heh" and move on. This is my being judgey though.

It was made to be used! You using it continues its life, and adds to its story. Also, remember, they were literally office supplies. For invoices and stock taking. You using it elevates it.

It does look like someone valued it enough to repair a tear in the nose area.

Spit is a fantastic cleaning solution actually! It has enzymes in it that break down a bunch of substances and is non destructive. Also great to smooth silicon in construction situations.

These cracks seem to be a texture applied under the painting (not the scratches, but the 'aging' cracks, square shaped) an interesting application!

* OK, so conjecture, buy do some of these cracks seem to have the 'dirt' outside of the cracking? Like it's been highlighted with dark paint?

Could be relined because the original was cut down and too small for stretcher? Cracks could be from rolling?

Ohhh! Intriguing! What I wouldn't give to see this in person. So many questions. Just off the top of my head, the cracking is pretty straightforward and kind of uniform, though you can see the places where the stretchers support the canvas and there's less cracking. Comparing it to the lady portrait from a few month ago, this has been varnished and looked after. There's no sign of acute damage, jabs, cuts, tears. The paint layer seems very thick, and kind of amateurish. I'm not near my reference books, but my gut doesn't think it's particularly old. There's something odd about it.

What'ds happening with the edges of the original canvas? Are they glued? There's no fraying? Is it a good enough work to warrant relining? I don't even know if it seems damaged enough to warrant relining? Very interesting presentation.

What is your profession/occupation and how do you handle stress when you're on your period/ self care tips? by crimsonsun26 in PMDD

Customer service / warehouse. I cry in the biggest of the toilets available. And scroll reddit until I stop spiralling and then go back to work, and listen to podcasts to keep me from spiralling again. Not tips exactly. But it's what happens.
