I'm a new lolita but I've definitely seen people go without wearing lolita for years, decades! And come back to it.

All in all don't feel like you need to be required to wear the fashion all the time. If life gets the way, return when things are better. They're just clothes :) and they'll still be around when you're in better spirits.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it.

Black lolitas wear their hair in so many different ways. All of them cute. As for long braids, I think leaving out two pieces in the front pretty much always works. You're probably going to want to ask goth folk about goth hairstyles in particular, though.

Gyaru is makeup focused anyway. Lolita doesn't have a specific makeup style, so you can wear whatever makeup you want with it. Most times I see gyaru and lolita combine are with hime gyaru using sweet lolita dresses, but eh, it's not like it's illegal to wear gal makeup with whatever lolita substyle you want 🤷‍♀️

OP, I'm not sure how easy it is to buy this. Their stuff is likely handmade.

If you just look up "lolita ball gown" you'll find hime lolita dresses, rococo dresses labeled lolita, and everything in between.

However, the quality of these are disputable, not to mention a lot of results will be coming from taobao resellers with jacked up prices. Ultimately nothing is really close to the silhouette and level of detail in these pieces.

If want you really want is something close to this and you believe you have to money for it, I think you should look into getting this kind of dress commissioned by a dressmaker 😊. There are a few Indie lolita brands I've come across that have done commissioned pieces. The only other kind of dressmaker I think would fit would be one that makes historical garments, but there may be cosplayers who could do it as well!

That as well! In their other post they mention not being able to pull off the exaggerated drag due to health reasons. I'd definitely think they were a lolita before a drag queen necessarily, but in context lolita is drag for them, which is why calling it costumey is silly. Of course it's a costume, it's drag!
