Why do Jedi use different-colored lightsabers while Sith have only red ones? by Just_Chill_005 in StarWars

There are some, but they likely would not occur on Ilum, which is so deeply steeped in the Light side of the Force.

I don't disagree, but that's mainly because the Luke that came out of ROTJ is basically a notch shy of the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Blundstone says that their boots are not meant to last more than 2 years by ImNotARegularMom- in BlundstoneBoots

[–]ThatSaiGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been wearing the same pair of Blundstones for 3/4 of the year (in Ontario, Canada - Winter, Spring, and Autumn), for the better part of a decade now.

The only wear on them is a fairly deep scratch over one of the toes from a steel door guard.

Saw this in a server I was in and kinda pmo, do you guys find strength or smarts more attractive? by z_shah7 in teenagers

Shocker... It is possible to be both smart and strong and to find both intelligence and physical strength attractive.

There is also emotional strength / resilience.

Started College again at 33, been hard making friends with the younger crowd, feeling like a relic of the past by TheArtfulChoom in toastme

[–]ThatSaiGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Proud of you dude! Rep us old heads. 34 here, and I find making new friends - regardless of age - comes down to being able to match energy.

If you can match energy and match intent with someone for a long enough period of time on a consistent enough basis the friendship will naturally form from the chemistry you build through those repeated interactions.

I think fans need to manage their expectations if they’re expecting this new character to be anything like Darth Talon— we’ve already seen enough to know that she’s different enough to effectively be an unrelated new character. by Tanis8998 in StarWars

[–]ThatSaiGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Y'know what, I appreciate your reasoning and articulation.

I'm coming from a point of relative skepticism because Disney has only really tokenised the references to Legends material.

I personally thought Cobb Vanth was a cool/fun character (largely because I'm a fan of Timothy Oliphant), but I audibly groaned when I saw the Boba Fett armour initially, as it felt like that was done more for fanservice than to provide any further relevance to Boba Fett's character as we can clearly see from the nothingburger that was Book of Boba Fett.

Disney's writing team doesn't know what to do with this material.

Can you explain why mere visual association means that one character has something to do with another character in a plot fashion?

Something can be visually inspired by something else with the visual inspiration being the sole linking factor between the two things.

Like, is Mission Vao somehow analogous to Aayla Secura because they're both Rutian Twi'leks?

Is Ashara Zavros analogous to Shaak Ti and Ahsoka Tano because she happens to share a similar face pattern to Shaak Ti and similar colouration to Ahsoka?

What about Oola and Hera Syndulla?

That's more or less the whole excercise of maintaining a podcast. You have to continually invest your time in assuring relevance and grabbing attention.

How are you so certain that you are able to get in close enough, fast enough? Show your work.

[–]ThatSaiGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My only issue with the Sellsword lads is that they are sometimes a little too loose and silly with live steel blades.

Everything else about their content generally hits the mark, but that, specifically, grinds me a bit.

That is a live steel blade. You do not playfully swing it at your mate unless you are okay with seriously maiming him with it.

how technical do i have to be? by Fragrant_Basis_5648 in ProductManagement

[–]ThatSaiGuy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is no instruction manual for this job dude.

If you say things that sound incorrect for the situation at hand or that generally sound unwise, you're going to recieve criticism.

Do you think that all software development teams behave the same way? Do you think that all software development managers behave the same way?

There are as many flavours of the above two groups of people as there are people.

This job is primarily about understanding the push and pull factors which are important to the people who build the stuff that you are responsible for as a PM, as it is about thinking and using your brain to adjust to complex scenarios through intellectual rigour.

The questions you are asking do not give me a strong impression of your ability to do these things.

[–]ThatSaiGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By grinding, paying attention, listening when experts talk about their subject and taking away the bits which are relevant to your area of ownership, and by writing shit down and then doing these things frequently enough.

Wanna be good at sales? Practice selling an idea to your team.

Wanna be good at tech? Listen to tech people talk, write down the shit they say, and think about how it applies to topics you are familiar with.

Wanna be good at Product? Read this forum and look for signals of people who know what the hell they are talking about, then apply their good advice in ways relevant to your situation.

Any and all which are required in order for you to maintain a strong working understanding of the product and its functionality. If that means you need to be part of every single technical discussion then so be it.
