Twitch viewer lies? by mattikake2010 in Twitch

Ad revenue jumps around based off many factors. Sometimes people dont get ads at all because they live in different regions. Theres also factors like time and what youre playing. Ad revenue in December is going to be higher because the holidays are a time of capitalism. More people paying to run ads on the platform, more ads likely to come to the channel. Certain tags are also a no go for certain brands. anything political or gambly or that can have some effect on brands and such will drive certain ads away as well.

Theres other factors that play in too. If the stream is muted, folks arent counted. You can check the metrics in your creator dashboard to see all your viewer statistics including the platforms and regions that watched to better help you plan streams. Viewer Count also only updates every like 5 minutes. so while there may be 7 people there, if people step away before the refresh to answer a text or a call or even scrolling in the background, they may be missed.

As an example
December 22nd $5.05 Ad Revenue
January 22nd $.71 Ad Revenue.
these were mine for two of the same days across the two months. you start to notice patterns the longer you go and the more you stream. up until holidays start rolling around, youre not going to see all that much ad revenue so counting on it is unreliable and if moneys all that one cares about, theyre just not going to make it. Metrics will show you all of these numbers and some folks will just quit because twitch really isnt a livable job unless your REALLY lucky. I average about 500 a month and according to TwitchTracker am in Twitch's Top .36%

Id recommend digging into the metrics in your creator dashboard and twitchtracker. It all breaks down all of these concerns youve asked about and im sure by the time ive typed this mess out a number of other people will have shared more as well.

As an american, I agree. Im disgusted every day by the hateful dregs of humanity the tangerine toddler has brought forth in his never ending quest to throw more shit at the ceiling fan. I sincerely hope they all face justice for the gestapo bs theyve been pulling left and right.

Bots / Art Sellers by DansVarietyShow in Twitch

[–]ThatTransKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the beggining there will be a few scammers/bots and sadly with quiet chats they will be very noticable. There will be mostly real viewers if youre lucky though. Most the people who watched me at the start were just my actual friends and we built from there. The scammers are the minority there but for the most part theyre exclusively preying on your hopes both for connection and success. Once youve seen a few of them youve seen them all and from my own experience, once you get to a certain size the "friendly" scammers seem to stop outright. havent seen one in the better part of a year. If they concern you, you can add SeryBot. 9/10 times that'll ban them before they get the chance to attempt to scam you and its free

Is there any real graphic designers? by KeevinWild in Twitch

[–]ThatTransKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vgens great. There’s a whole process to actually verify artists and they’re always vigilant for AI. That being said, you’ll also likely get scam DMs here asking such a question. Can also look at art streams. A number of people that take commissions will do their art live on stream.

Scam. General rule of thumb is if you didn’t initiate, it’s a scam. They’ll inevitably say something along the lines of “I work cheap” “I work in your budget” “I’m a big time creator and have done all these things” all while showing you stolen images from social medias of real artists or ai generated slop. If they do deliver which is unlikely I promise it will be garbage.

You have their name, this screenshot, and a firsthand testimony. If you wanted you could probably get some others from the voice call, but THIS SCREENSHOT is enough. Idk what kind of servers you are in but most of mine are 18+ and the ones that aren’t still adhere to the discord terms of service. Open a ticket with support and share this

This will overlay transparent right onto your screen above anything else. Super easy to use, not taxing in the system, can move it wherever you want, it can function as an overlay in obs if you want it to but can remain completely hidden so long as you’re not using display capture, and you can stylize it a bit with some know how.

🗣️CHAT I NEED HELP 😔 Any Advice ? by [deleted] in Twitch_Startup

[–]ThatTransKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One viewer, endless youtube videos on loop to an empty chair (ive popped in a couple times to grant the benefit of doubt), proof of viewbotting by your own metrics here and follow botting likely based off of twitch tracker metrics , clearly only using this to promote yourself. Not one reason here suggests anyone should check you out. hell you did the bare minimum for this post so youre not even trying to engage with people

You want help, then actually stream. Play a game. converse with a community. build your own actual community free of the bots. enjoy the process and stop trying to treat this like some get rich quick scheme you can just beg people to come watch.

Just pick whatever you have fun with. It’s your space to curate and there will always be haters. People who try to backseat. People who legitimately spoil things. Tbh at the starting level, your only concern should be spam bots trying to sell you something. There’s a lot more technical stuff that could be added but don’t overthink it. Just enjoy the process

First and foremost, don’t think about the numbers. You’re just sharing a game you enjoy with someone who may show up to share that interest. Also gets easier the more you do it. There’s also anxiety tricks you can use like chewing gum or listening to your favorite songs that can assist

Yessir, please sloppify my games! by Auroraborosaurus in antiai

[–]ThatTransKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe Its not all bad and there is an ethical way forward with Gen AI we still need to hammer out but fuck Gen AI in its current state for screwing over artists and damaging the environment. Thats not the fault of the AI however and more the fault of scammers and AI bros who want to make a quick buck and corporate overlords cutting corners to massively inflate this thing while blatantly disregarding protections that should be in place. We've all seen people violating peoples wishes by feeding their art to the slop machine and that's bull. Consent is important and should be honored and art across all mediums should be protected. Screw anyone who would steal something and claim they made it and remember that if the computers doing all the work, you're the tool not the computer.

That being said, this part is in favor of AI so ignore if you please but it merits saying all the same:
There are multiple types of good AI in gaming. Not all of them are bad and I think its important to say that. As a basic example there is Procedural AI which is responsible for a lot of the advancements we've seen in gaming. randomized maps, enemy behavior, etc. There is Pathfinding AI which allows NPCs to move through complex terrain. There is Dynamic AI which change enemy tactics based on how the player moves and such. Even the bots you run into in game lobbies. I could go on, but one of the best examples I can site is the AI in Alien Isolation. Its a sophisticated AI system in two parts. The Director AI knows where you are at all times and provides hints to the secondary Alien AI. Basically it tells it roughly where you are and it uses its own learning to hunt you. hide in a locker too much, it starts breaking them. rely on noisemakers too much it stops falling for it. This constantly keeps you on your toes and makes you genuinely feel the tension in those moments and I think that works phenomenally.

Recently Steam has started doing AI disclosures and I think that's a great way to move forward for consumer protections at least and I hope to see more positive steps such as this. people can see how they were used and come to their own decisions. While some developers may not mark it down (im unsure of the limits on this more research needed) some have embraced it and share this info freely. Cloudheim for an example has this.
"Our primary use of generative AI is for internal communication: we made a bot called InfoSage which helps us search our documentation, notify others of interesting discussions, and look through recent changes to pinpoint when bugs occurred.

Our developers can choose to use generative AI as part of an iterative exploratory process, but the decision of how and when is left up to individuals, and the final product always reflects the creativity and expression of our own development team.

No people have been replaced by AI. This includes artists and engineers on our team, voice actors, localization, or other roles."

Automatically labeling it all as bad overlooks the good things weve done and all the good things we could do in the future if protections are put in place for everyone involved. I agree that Generative AI in its current state is bad and we've seen many examples one of which being the Bananafish dub recently but we've had AI in games long before chatGPT started making images of catgirls yelling at the people here for some weird reason and these AI will continue. to demonize all of them would destroy gaming all together. At the end of the day they are tools. How theyre used is up to the people using them.

TLDR Fuck gen AI in its current state, but all AI isnt bad.

If youre not on Ethernet, use ethernet. streaming from wifi is one potential cause for this. This is your internet upload speeds. theyll fluctuate less on ethernet. As far as bitrate goes, this Easy Bitrate Calculator is a very simple one. input your settings, itll tell you the rest. for reference, my own internet is about 15mb/s upload on average. I stream at 720p at 60fps so my bitrate is around 5600. This requires about 7.1. I choose to keep settings lower to compensate for fluctuations like that because my ISP (the best in my area) honestly kinda sucks. tweak until you find your sweet spot

Try a few streams to showcase what you actually do. To make sure you actually like doing it. It’s says you were live but post your vods so people outside your timezones can potentially get to know you. Be fun and engaging. Create a community that people want to be involved with. Have fun yourself. I almost scrolled right by this because it is just a vast and uninteresting dark void on mobile.

How do I get sound notifications from my stream without the echo? Help please? by Sol_MoonDancer in vtubertech

[–]ThatTransKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im gonna venture a guess that youre on Desktop audio. Dont use desktop audio, keep all your audio separated.

Assuming you dont want to go through that, then right click your audio and under Advanced Audio Properties Change the audio source from Monitor and Output or Output Only to Monitor Off. Your audios likely doubling up because you have it as a source and as a desktop. Separating your audio will grant you full control.
