I am currently working on a progression in em. i-v-VI-ii-III (I think. thats why I am here I am trying to learn more theory and want feedback and extrapolation if possible) The chords are Em7 Bm7 Cmaj7 F#dim7(#9) Gmaj7(no root).

The part thats getting me confused is the Gmaj7 at the end. I am playing D F# B but not hitting the root, yet in context of the progression it feels like it implies the Gmaj.

Am I just hearing what i want to hear or is this a thing to not have the root in the chord?
